@MK Because the company failed in their management and supervision of these employees. The company and management created a business environment where this could or is allowed to happen. I highly doubt this was the first customer vehicle abused and damaged by these two employees.

Which is why I do my own work now. After the mess of mt last car, and the 5 star yelp rated with hundreds of reviews mom and pop shop butchered my car (they put the engine back together wrong, with incorrect timing and the engine blew again), I realized you can't trust anyone with your car.
I agree with the victim, this incident should be treated as "racist " clearly it was. For America Tires to ask him to have his friend remove the incriminating footage was even more of an insult.

It is company policy to beat up customers cars at America’s tire. Unfortunately no dash cam video were available then. Wind shield glass is cheap and the incident will be forgotten. If you think you can get better service elsewhere think again. Customer disrespect is the new normal.

Ok I if I showed up and my car was damaged and I had dash cam/audio footage of the incident the tire shop has insurance. I wouldn't leave until my insurance company contacted their insurance company and the damages were fully paid for. The guys joy riding a customer car is absolutely unacceptable yet sadly happens. What happened at that tire shop to cause the windshield to crack and other damages? Was the windshield already chipped/damaged before and then it cracked later ? Why would a licensed/bonded tire shop offer 5k dollars and free tires ? Has this treatment to customer vehicles happened so many times their insurance/bonding is about to drop them due to past claims ? Did the shop actually terminate the employees or put them on unemployment or transfer them to another store location ?
What happened to the vehicle owner should not happen to anyone period. I hope his vehicle gets repaired and this never happens again to another customer.
i guess the media has to cut off some of those parts to avoid lawsuits.

That's why I always opt to go to small mom and pop local tire shops over corporate chains. They're more appreciative of your business and will hook you up if you're a repeat customer.
Same reason why I only go to hispanic tire shops. Don’t car if I gotta drive 40 miles. Respect goes a long way.

That is the right thing to do if you are really offended but this guy isn't. He just wants money that's why he is going at the company and not the two guys. He will never get a large settlement in court against the guys. But you are right if he was really offended the course of action would be to sue the two guys in a civil suit the offer the company gave should have included getting his car painted but that's it. New tires new windshield and new paint he is completely whole not to mention $5000.00 on top of it. But he doesn't care about the racism so he goes after money instead. The company didn't do this to him. The two guys did and the third that was throwing valve stems.

There are things I don't understand:
• Did the staff crack his windshield? Why? With what? Was it captured on video?
• Did the customer drive away with the cracked windshield when he picked up his car?
You know I was asking myself some of the same questions about the windshield. I would like to see what caused the crack or if that was captured on video. I would think a person would notice right away if it was cracked after and not leave until the tire shops insurance paid for the damage. I don't doubt what happened plus its disgraceful to treat a customers car that way or have idiots who are that much of a liability working in a tire shop. I think there are parts of this video and story probably being withheld for legal reasons by an attorney who is working with the owner of the vehicle. My fear is if they cracked glass, scratched, damaged, and joy rided the car what else was done wrong or overlooked during the installation of the tires.

Im glad my nephews friend has a shop now. Went to America's Tire once and they scratched one of my wheels. You gotta stand and watch those guys when they work on your wheels/vehicle 🤦♂️
Where I live its called Discount Tire. My husband took my car to get a tire changed. So one time they broke the door handle, I went to pick it because my husband had to do something else nobody wanted to be accountable for the damage. So I told them that if my car is not fixed I was going to file a police report against the company and the manager, not the employee. So the manager handle the situation quickly, I understand accidents happened and that's fine with me but what it gets me upset is the fact that sometimes companies don't want to take account of their mistakes.

I had a bad experience at an America's Tire. I tried Les Schwab next and had a bad experience there, too. Now I go to Big-O. I've had good luck there. They even fixed a flat for free once because a mix-up made me wait for almost an hour. They had free popcorn and a car restoration show on TV and I didn't even notice the time when they told me..

Companies do nothing until it effects their bottom line. It seems if you want companies to take reasonability for their own actions or the employees action, you must bring it to a new network or have a huge following on social media. Bad publicity will cause people to not use their service, which effects their profits.
Companies should take reasonability without having to do such things. They will not respect anyone if they don't lose money, if they do lose money they'll "turn around and do the right thing"

Something I learned recently...when you go to a tire shop (Big O Tire for me), and they say they will perform a "Complimentary inspection", read the fine print...they are going to "inspect" areas of your car that have NOTHING to do with your tires/wheels/brakes. And they WILL find something that needs repair. To cover their a**es, they *do* have a list that says what their inspection will cover, and you *do* sign off that you allow it, its just that a customer assumes they will not look at things other than tire/wheel related things. So its a trap, when they should be sticking to the tires/wheels/brakes as their "complementary inspection" instead of looking at other things under the hood or other places where they have no business (or expertise).

I had an incident with a local Acura dealership that I had to go to repeatedly for vibration and bump steer issues and found a video on my dashcam of the tech calling my car "f***** junk". Ended up getting rid of the car at a loss due to the ignorance of their service dept. They were never able to replicate any of the issues. Had to get some of the repairs done at an independent shop.
Absolutely despicable.

The manager/supervisor who hired those racist also should be terminated. Those workers were too comfortable, I'm sure it's not the first time that kind of behavior was done around the shop. This behavior does not start and end with those employees who were fired. It's enabled by management.

We have been America's Tire/Discount Tire customer. They should have fired the Shift Supervisor/Manager too for harboring that kind of behaviour in their shop. It is either negligence or incompetence; negligent if he/she knows about but didn't do anything and incompetence if he/she did not know what's going on in the shop. Racism is the big issue but also the way they treat customers' cars. Properly installing the tires and properly torquing the lugnuts' in doubt now...if they cannot be professional on basic things, then what else they cannot be trusted?
