I also think it's going to be one of the shoes of the year. I also said that about the regular prodigio and was so sad about the ankle collar. Really seems like La Sportiva nailed it with this one though!
Great information! I'm hoping US retailers will be on board with caring more La sportiva trail running models. 195.00 is a bit much for the three letter word, Pro.
On to my second pair of standard Prodigios and I think there is a subtle difference in the ankle cutout shaping: not night and day but I got pretty instant comfort even on cambers rather than a break-in period needed this time.
I've got the prodigio pro now and the sizing does feel the same as other La Sportivia models. I assume the Max will be the same, but won't know for sure until we get review units 👍
Looks like they are based on the white frixion X, which is great. Any idea on Lug Depth? Had the Prodigio's and loved them, but the lug depth was just a touch too short.
So instead of just a single piece of foam being the cushioning of the shoe, they cut out a big chunk of it (creating a cavity) undef foot and then they insert a different foam. In La Sportiva's case they inserted in a piece of super foam right under foot. The idea behind this is to get some of the energy returns of super foam, but control it with the casing of foam so it doesn't get too wild out on the trails.
I tried the prodigio’s on recently at a large outdoor department store and they were awesome except for that tongue digging in to my ankle. Think this is me or there are still some of the old ones out there? Otherwise they were fantastic!
Oh I'm sure there are definitely some old ones still out there. Either that or the change they made still wasn't enough of a change. I haven't gotten to try on an updated one to compare
Same question as for the Kjerag2: Is the tongue fully gusseted all the way up and down the vamp (as is the current Prodigio)? I want No Dirt In The Shoe
The Prodigio Pro has a full knit bootie that includes the tongue and it wraps all the way around the foot. The power wire exterior is a 2nd layer, but there were't any openings within the knit for anything to get in, so you should be good
The Prodigio Pro is going to be more suited for faster running while the Prodigio Max will be better suited for the long days. I imagine they'll probably do pretty good on the opposite though. You'll probably just have to get both 😅
Pro version need a pocket lace or something close to it even if BOA would have been even better ! It's still the shoe that seduce me the most ! No arcteryx norvan LD or brands using BOA this year ?
It feels a bit stiffer and perhaps more protective underfoot. I need to run more in the Prodigio Pro to know for sure, but it feels like it's going to hold up better on rocky or more mountainous terrain. They definitely do line up pretty close to each other on paper though!
Can you please come out with a booklet that gives definitions and pictures of all the 100 most used words when talking about the overview of a shoe? I wish I spoke shoe
Prodigio Pro is my 2025 trail runner of the year prediction.
100% agree. This is my most anticipated release hands down!
Always wanted to try La Sportiva but like you said they were always too narrow and hard !
I also think it's going to be one of the shoes of the year. I also said that about the regular prodigio and was so sad about the ankle collar. Really seems like La Sportiva nailed it with this one though!
Very stoked about both of these! I got a tester pair of the Prodigios and I can't wait to see these developments

195 is a bit steep, but I do think it is 40 dollars better than the regular Prodigio. Problem is that the regular Prodigio should be closer to 120-130
Excited for these two models and always happy when I see claims of taking down Hoka 👏🏼
Both of these look really nice. Definitely interested in trying them and hoping this changes La Sportiva's direction in North America.
This really feels like a turning point for La Sportiva in the North American market. Really excited for these ones

I’ll be picking up a pair
I’ve been wearing the Bushida’s 3 as my first LS trail show! Definitely a tight fit for me that’s snug and I find offers a lot of traction n grip
Prodigio pro is extremely exciting.
forgot to ask, will the sizing for the PRO & MAX be similar to the Prodigio (European/US)?
I've got the prodigio pro now and the sizing does feel the same as other La Sportivia models. I assume the Max will be the same, but won't know for sure until we get review units 👍

I didn't get an exact number, but it looks nearly identical to the current Prodigio lugs
what is a drop in core & casing? Thanks & great content!

Really liked the shoe a lot!! I like a wide toe box and was surprised how wide this shoe was! Maybe I’ll give it another go!
Disappointed to hear about the wider fit. The current Prodigio is too wide for me to get a secure lockdown. Other than that this shoe looks 🔥🔥🔥

@@ConversationalPace That's what I want to hear! Thanks man!
Which is better for intervals at the mountains and for long run???
The Prodigio Pro is going to be more suited for faster running while the Prodigio Max will be better suited for the long days. I imagine they'll probably do pretty good on the opposite though. You'll probably just have to get both 😅
If you were to do ~50k on say the Hardrock course, you think the Pro would be well suited for comfort and performance?
Pro version need a pocket lace or something close to it even if BOA would have been even better !
It's still the shoe that seduce me the most !
No arcteryx norvan LD or brands using BOA this year ?
I wasn't able to report on Arc'teryx due to embargoes on their upcoming shoes. They are planning a big launch event with more details in February
How would you say the Prodigio Max stacks up against the Trabuco Max 2 or 3?
I think the Trabuco Max will still have a few mm more foam, but it might end up being a pretty direct competitor!
How does the Pro Compare to the Agravic Speed?
It feels a bit stiffer and perhaps more protective underfoot. I need to run more in the Prodigio Pro to know for sure, but it feels like it's going to hold up better on rocky or more mountainous terrain. They definitely do line up pretty close to each other on paper though!

haha oh man, that shoe index would be constantly changing so fast. I even have a hard time with some of the terms that these brands are coming up with
