I’m thankful for my wife of 18 years and my twin daughters. Nearly 3 years ago they were born, addicted to heroin. We became their foster parents at 9 days old and visited them at the NICU every day until day 18 when they went home with us. In March we officially adopted them and in April bought our first home. I quit using drugs about 2 weeks before they were born and quit smoking cigarettes a year later. I’ll be 3 years sober December 12. Without them I know I would not maintain sobriety or even have quit smoking

The one thing I'm thankful for is. I met a beautiful girl in highschool we fell in love instantly but due to circumstances beyond my control I had to leave town for 2 years and she had moved on by then. That was 50 years ago and in August this year I left a comment on the video of our song save it for me by the four seasons. She saw it and put out an APB online to find me. An old friend of mine saw it and gave her my phone number. She called me we met for the first time in 50 years and plan to marry next year. That's what I'm thankful for

Fun facts (in my grand-father case).. When such classic cars were available in Europe because of building quality (these engines are long lasting very reliable with little maintenance) but for its purchasing price it was considered a high end top class limousine compared to other cars back then and most of the owners who afford them were like from the upper class : doctors, executive directors, business-owners, lawyers, members of the parliament & diplomats.. etc Really glad you guys decided to save this "swallow tail" - Mercedes (called like that because of longer extensions forked tails over rear lights)..

I suspect the "leather" is actually MB-tex which is a Mercedes_Benz vinyl product that will outlast Cher. The rear design of these models was unfortunate with a somewhat Rambler vibe.

ALSO, I never used a high pressure washer either, just wet it and gently wash it with microfiber wash mitts. Hold the spray nozzle
farther away from the car or the paint will come off. be carefullllll!

Popular cars here in Europe. Most were the 4 cyl Diesel versions. Bomb-proof but sluggish. These cars were designed without an accountant at the table. No bean counters. Only after the the cars were built, a pricetag was put on them. That's why a lot survive in great condition The parts supply is great.

The leather you mentioned at the 14 minute mark is MB-Tex. A highly durable vinyl offered on Mercedes models even today! I had these mb-Tex seats in multiple cars including a diesel w123 from the 80’s.

Always sit an external container of fuel attached to the fuel line before starting as the pump will suck up any contaminants up from the tank in to the carburetors then drop the tank out an clean it. Of course, a full service and replacement of tires is mandatory! Also to much fooling around by you guys was hard to follow where you were coming from maybe you had a few beers before hand , a much more mature approach would be better from a viewing prospective 😉

This makes me cringe. Not smart to crank a car that has been sitting for decades in this manner. Should remove the spark plugs and spray some good penetrating oil into the bores and let sit for a few days to free up the rings and give a little lubrication to the cylinders before turning the engine over. Also drain the oil & replace with clean dino oil & new filter. But hey, this gets views & likes, which is all that matters.

Great job on this car. Gorgeous. The quality of those Mercedes is simply astounding. I suspect you are going to need traditional chrome polish to get the beauty rings back to the proper look. I believe they may be aluminum that was highly polished. Either way they should be as bright and shiny as the rest of the trim.
That is not leather on those seats. That is a vinyl called MBTex. It is still used by Mercedes-Benz. My brother had an 85 300SD with it. There were 3 interior trims offered. MBTex, cloth, or leather

Suggestions-On cars like this that are nice enough-consider cleaning the headliner, underside of hood and wheel wells. Also, never start a long-sitting car without flushing the fuel tank and fuel system first; you can damage the engine. As a local, Cleveland, 45 year car detailer, consider using Q-tips for getting into all the interior nooks and crannies like air vents, stuff like that. BTW-Despite my suggestions, for what my opinion is worth, you guys do nice work.

My entry to my passion of classic car restoration began 60 years ago washing cars at the shopping center at Edwards AFB in California. The car culture their was strong. In 1967 Bill's Auto Detail was my after school job my senior year. The summer of 1967 I detailed cars for Shorty Harper in Santa Monica at the corner of 7th Street and Wilshire Blvd. We detailed many movie stars cars and amazing cars. You are wonderful. Back in those day, the number in the trunk gave away what engine it had. A 230 was a 2.3L, a 280 was a 2.8L etc. The S designates the model of the car. E class, C class,S class etc, if I remember correctly. Both BMW and Mercedes did this for years. Nowadays it’s not necessarily a correlation between number on the boot and engine size.

Back in the day my mom had a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190e and it was a really beautiful car. It was black with tan interior. It wasn't a Cosworth or anything, but it was a fairly quick car that got good fuel economy and it lasted well into the 300,000 miles range. The only reason that she got rid of it is because it had one single windshield wiper and the motor would go bad and it was $1000 every time it would. Then the speedometer stopped working at 257,000 miles and she drove it every day for another 3 years before the water pump went bad and the mechanic said that it was going to be $1500 to replace it. She sold it to the mechanic and bought a 1990 Toyota Camry.

I think it’s a little concerning that you all mess around with engines when you know a little to nothing about them. Doesn’t seem like you check how old the gas is or make sure the oil is OK before trying to start it. You can damage the engine! Maybe have the owners hire someone that knows about Mercedes’. 😮

When the top layer of paint comes of, it's called oxidation and it is dead paint. Sometimes it's so bad that you have to use abrasive rubbing compound, sometimes non abrasive compound is required.

Transplant that body and interior onto a late 90s/early 2000s S class chassis with a V8, and you've got a winner!!

I owned one of these, definitely one of the worst automotive experiences one can have. It is beyond a money pit, it is a catastrophic money cavass that opens to the pit of hell. Sell it while the shine sparkles,,,don't let it get dusty, get your money and run!

What a beautiful car! Terrific job on this 1967 230. I think you are the best detailers on YT, always finding the most interesting cars to bring back to life. This car shows the precision and workmanship of older Mercedes...it's a classic tank!
I look forward to your weekly videos and the buried treasures you find!
Thanks so much for sharing, and have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Why do you Always Start at the bottom of the Car NOT the Top, All the dirt from the top runs down the parts you have just cleaned then you must clean it again

I am an old man stop trying to start cars off carb cleaner. One of the times you will wash out the cylinders and then it will need new rings yes they will start but use gas or 2 cycle gas remember the top of the engine is totally dry. And you are doing it a lot more damage than you think. A little checking on what to do will save you from wrecking, an engine down the road

I would prefer you didn’t try and start the engines in these videos, without doing all the proper checks, like has it got any oil in it, is the fuel in the tank rotten, you could ruin a perfectly good engine. Stick to cleaning and polishing.

230 merc they always use the badge on the backs to show the engine size so it makes it a 3.0 litre and so on so a 500 is a 5.0. BMW do the same so a 635 is a model 6 and a 3.5 litre
