I remember the day I realized I had more money in my savings account than my mortgage and decided to transfer it all over to pay off the house since I really wasn't saving up for anything. Once you pay off all of you debts, you finally get to realize how fast your savings can grow. Also once you start making more money in your investments that your job paycheck is when you finally see money, savings, and investing differently.
I completely agree that your money is your business. My perspective is that maybe the person thought that an emergency fund is for unexpected necessary expenses. Rent would usually be an expected expense rather than an unforeseen expense. ANYWAY love your videos and have watching for a while. Keep it up and I look forward to your next one!
Agreed. Yes not being able to pay your rent is an emergency, but why can't you pay your rent? What else did you spend money on that month that prohibited you from paying your rent without dipping into your emergency fund? I think that's what the comment was getting at. Rent should be the first thing you pay. So your emergency is essentially paying for everything that caused the not being able to pay rent, it wasn't really for the rent itself. But at the end of the day yes your money is your money. But I also agree with the comment that paying your rent isn't an emergency unless like your monthly income is less than your rent etc. I also don't think you necessarily shouldn't have any fun while paying off debt, but if you can't afford to pay rent without dipping into your emergency fund then I don't agree that you should be going on vacations personally but everybody manages money differently 🤷♀️
@@droid2D2C3P0 Great points. However, I think she is fine with her emergency fund, so it was really not a big deal for her. She is not that strict about it. Also, lots of people don't even have that much saved for their emergency fund if at all.
@@augustek5382 she's not even halfway to her goal, she said that in the video. "Lots of people have nothing saved" is a terrible justification for your own poor money management. I'm not denying that she has the savings and can do what she wants with it. But I think the way she handled the comment, called the commenter negative etc, was off base. Just my 2C
@@droid2D2C3P0 my own poor money management? lol. I have no issues managing my money. I was working all through my college years and after, and now... And my parents did not pay for me or bought me cars or anything. I have no loans or any debt and have enough saved. So do not assume that someone has poor money management. You sound like your parents covered all your bills all your life until you got a nice job after college...
@@augustek5382 I was using "your" in a general sense. It wasn't directed specifically at you. I don't know anything about you. You took my comment way too personally, it had nothing to do with you.
glad it's getting colder in the northern hemisphere, cause I LOVE this pink egg sweater! And, also love the monthly money updates! I love how you talk about the psychological, mental and emotional sides of spending, budgeting and saving!
Love the update Zoe! As a rule of thumb for myself I NEVER buy products advertised on podcasts or pushed by influencers, I always see that as the creator getting their well deserved bag and just ignore the plug lol
Hey Zoe! I really like this type of videos because I can relate so so much. I have been working on changing my money mindset because I share with you that horrible feeling around spending and guilt. I am trying to improve my relationship with money as if money was a person. The fact that you are budgeting means you are really conscious about how you spend your money and if spending money is in fact an exchange of energy we should not feel guilty. For me that lack of trust in having enough comes also of lack of trust in life and in my self. That is something I am working on too. I am from Colombia so I am very happy you had a great time. I am living in the US right now but you made me want to save money and go to Irotama!!! Have a great month!!!
Soooo happy for you having so much fun on your trip. Also- great point about being in debt doesn’t mean you have stop living entirely. It just means it’s time to rein in the frivolous spending party. You put me in a great mood when you wear the sunny side up eggs cardigan 🍳 ❤
I'm excited for the cash envelopes video! But also don't be hard on yourself if it doesn't go exactly as planned, I 100% agree with everything you said about it being your money and you can figure out what's right for you and do what you want with it. I think hearing about the mindset shift with the cash envelopes will be most interesting.
thankyou. this made me feel a bit better about my budget for the past and current month 😅i've had a spendy month with starting to make bookings for a domestic trip and overseas holiday. i've also spent quite a bit on gifts for family and spontaneously bought some gym clothes, but have to remind myself that most of these expenses align with my values and/or future goals!!
Hi Zoe! I love this videos! Good luck with de new method you are applying 😁 You can do it! (...and if you can't reach the goal, its OK, you have many other months to make it 😉 dont be hard on yourself)
I smile every time I see your sweater (that’s such a random comment), but that’s what you were wearing in the very first video I discovered you with, a few months ago and it brings so many cute memories. 😅✨💕

I am so desperately trying to save money , but theres one thing i feel amazing splurging on : travel ! I really dont have much money, my friends buy houses and stuff and im nowhere near This , but i will always always ( when its not covid ) go on one amazing trip a year to wherever i want and eat all the food and travel around, these experiences are priceless ! I swear, people feel so entitled to judge other people's spendings ESPECIALLY when they feel like the person they're judging is making less money than them or has debt. Just because you don't have $100k saved up and a house you fully own, doesn't mean you can't enjoy life!
