These are notorious for moisture right! I've sprayed some sealer on my circuit board which works well and I pull it apart every few months (after heavy rain) to dry it out. I've also installed super bright white leds. Easy enough to do if you're skilled with a soldering iron.
Thank you for the super informative video, after seeing it I felt confident enough to open my dash to remove some water that had managed to enter it during a rain and was making my odometer's display malfunction ( all bars were half on and it was almost unreadable ). I owe you a beer dude! :-)
I have the same issue and it also led engine light & all sorts of other issues. It's almost dry now but I'm gonna take it apart, dry completely and try to seal it properly.
Excellent video. Thanks. I was afraid to take it apart, but it seems easier than expected. My speedo needle is off by 30mph that I need to open the gauge in order to adjust.
@@ducatinyc that was really lucky... by the way I am doing a DIY for the oil change will the KN-153 be ok? It is the only 1 available here in my country.. hope u can help me
Yo dude do you think its possible i open my m620 dashboard and replace the background + gauges with something else? I have a 2002 m620 background but miss the 2003 one :(
Once upon a time somebody smashed the dash glass/plastic of my BSA, an old timer mechanc , back in Melbourne, just made a new plastic thing and = voila - 10 dollars later it looked like brand knew. In the 80s when you could still find people able to FIX things
That's the way to do it. This repair also cost me nothing, I think I actually made $ by selling the unused broken part on ebay :) Fixing things yourself is where its at.
Did you have any issues with condensation getting under the cluster? My screens are super faded but I have heard that if you take them apart you ruin the weather seals and risk condensation problems.
There is a tiiiiiiny bit of consensation on the lower part of the cluster when the weather is weird. Like 1" x 1/2" spot. Not big enough to even notice, really. In my case, since my tachometer plastic was smashed/broken and i got a ridiculous amount of wetness/condensation and just ugliness before - this was a huge improvement,
vassili1234 ok, looks like I will give it a shot. My glass is really faded so I will try to clean it from the outside and if it doesn't clear up I will disassemble it. Thanks for the prompt response!
+Ducati NYC Vlog By the way, since you have had a look inside. do you think it is possible to change the leds inside to a different color or are they soldered on? i would like to change the color of mine to green ones
Thymen Ruiten, Van Yes, I believe that is possible, I've seen some videos of people doing just that and I believe they even sell kits on ebay. I've considered replacing my dials with the white ones from a s4r, but decided black looks better.
Black looks most definitely better! i want to change my grey ones to black, and also the middle thing to a black one. Do you maybe have a link for the ebay sets?
+Thymen Ruiten, Van just tried to look it up, cant find it. i def saw it before, little LED light kit. I think i first saw it on the ducatimonster.org forum.

Yep, super sensitive to moisture. I put those silica packets in there against moisture. Seems to work fine.

My pleasure brother! I'm glad you got in there and got it done. Nice and easy.
I'll take a good ol Budwiser :P
I have the same issue, what did you do/use to clean the thing?

Yea, open it up and see whats what. Pretty simple in there.
If only we could FIND the bezel cover. They're like unicorns. You got lucky to find it.
I had to buy a whole broken dash to get the bazel cover
Thank you for the video! Do you think an after market speedometer would work for the ducati? I have a ducati 695. Thanks.
Yes, it would most definitely work - you would just not be able to have the immobilizer function.
Grazie mille per la descrizione accurata....è proprio il problema che mi si è presentato a me. Grazie...
+Fabrizio Beccati prego! il piacere è tutto mio! Grazie mille per la visione e il tempo di commentare!
Do you still have the red key sir? Or just the black one..mine was not included.. thats why parts are hard to change
Yes, i was lucky and my bike came with 2 black and 1 red key, and a key code card as well.

Ducati NYC Vlog How do you remove the gauges properly?
+Paul Huisman Good question. Might have to get creative and be careful.
Ducati NYC Vlog Will do, thx :)

Is it plug and play please if i get a speedo from another bike? I trashed mine i have a mosnter 620 dark 2003 just like yours ...thanks mate
No, its not plug and play at all. You have to match it to your ECU and keys and all that.
@@ducatinyc really?? :/ i ve watched a video saying that if its a second hand speedo you dont need to reprogram the ecu
Where did you get this housing I need one
Ebay - it was a long hunt - good luck!

How did it work out? :)
I never quite took it apart. As soon as it's warmer and dryer out I will probably take it off and try to polish out the haze
Where did you find the dashboard? Cannot find one
Took me weeks/months of hunting Ebay. I guess I got lucky.
What would of happened if you just swapped two identical dashes?
It would not work at all - the dash is paired to the key and ecu
Where can I buy this? please man
Hunt on eBay
El mío tiene el metacrilato transparente del cuentarrevoluciones fisurado. No hay recambio de solo la carcasa exterior.
Yea, unfortunately its a big long ebay hunt to get these pieces now day
Tengo el mismo problema en una mts 620 y no encuentro nada al respecto salvo comprar el cuadro completo
Yea its not easy to find a cheap replacement - i had to hunt on Ebay for a long long time

BASICALLY - the best word in the world.
Have you ever thought about switching out the dashboard to an entirely new model? -- I want to switch it out for a digital display.
I actually prefer the classic dash on this classic bike but i do want the 821 for its color one....
@@ducatinyc Apparently, switching to the updated LCDs requires a bit more know-how
