Beautiful. You don't see the machine as a thing, but as a partner. You've been through a lot together, and with careful maintenance, you're giving back to the princess 620 the experiences she brought you.
Nice Vid, I got my Ducati Monster 620 because of you and your early video, I have had the same issues with the clocks, and it's true all the sensors come from cars and are cheaper. I got mine from Alfa 156 and FIAT. Nice to know they get high mileage i'm only on 14000miles got mine at 10000 miles but she did live in a barn for 13 years.
That is a beautiful thing! I'm honored :) Thats one of the things I love about these bikes, lots of solutions and options to fix things - and everything is exposed!
@@ducatinyc Before I got my big bike I was researching loads and the monster was the bike I kept coming back to. and your videos helped me get my first bike. I think people get scared of the belts and honestly not that hard to do. That's dope! got the same bike as my first, she's giving me some minor issues but she's really great and fun to ride everytime I hope i can manage to keep alive mine that much like you because finding another bike like this can be reeeeeally hard
hey man i’ve been watching your videos for a while. Im not sure of you have had issues after washing it. I really dont want to pour a ton of money to repair it. Though for context i washed the bike then it didnt want to start. It does prime, turn on electrical, their is sparks, cleaned the air box (not sure if theirs is water within the system), spark become covered in fuel, backfiring, and that’s it for the moment. Still love the channel!!!!
Look at the sparkplug boots and coil wires and connections to the coil. Things might be loose and water gets in. That has ALWAYS been my issue after wash/bad rain. Backfiring included.
Your vídeos are awesome. I saw you since years ago. i love your ducati 620 but i bought 821. Awesone person and great canal. Sorry for my language. See you sir!!. From spain
@@ducatinyc Well you are the reason I got mine, and now we have a ton of their products. I even created a mount for my Chubby Buttons using their products.
Hi there Duc bro how you doing ? Don’t ask where I’ve been , it may have been a vet hospital for all the good it did . Had certain vax now I’m listed as chronic , damn shit. Proof is bud you went and got another Monster good on you. 👍😀 I lashed out got another Duc as well , a 1200 S Monster . I’ve had Ducati service tech say he has seen air cooled ones with 90,000 kms on it. So keep up the oil changes and belt a valve checking , she’ll last a while yet. Congrats on ya new Duc good decision cheers mate
@@ducatinyc So far it's been great! I had an electrical gremlin that I think I can finally say is fixed now. I was blowing the 15A headlight/tail light fuse. I think it was due to a pinched portion of the wiring harness. No damaged wires luckily. I cut the sheathing for the harness to inspect the individual wires. It's been about 3 weeks with no issues on that. I also did a tail tidy on it, former owner did Rizoma turn signals, I upgraded the headlight bulbs to LED for low beam, Sylvania Ultra for the high beam, I did a tail tidy as well, that custom mounting for my tail bag (I cut up the pilion cover), Installed wiring to the battery to do charging, android auto screen so I don't have to risk my phone being on the bars, and currently, I'm on about 50 miles on new tires. Next: chain and sprockets, belts (no clue how old the current ones are), and exhaust wrap. I'm changing my gear ratio to 14t x 46t. Instead of the 15t x 45t.
I lost my 2000 fuel injected monster 900 because of a cracked engine mount. only had 3k miles and unfortunately when I crashed insurance would have covered the minor damage but I discovered the previous owner cracked the engine mount... making a $1000 repair bill into a $5000 bill and parts are very difficult to find for the engine. I would have had to buy a whole donor engine and rebuild the existing one with it.
Did you try and have the opinion of an expierienced aluminium welder? Ducati engine cases are pretty high quality and can be welded by someone who knows what he is he doing.
Very nice! Is the rear hugger stock? It's nice and long (that's what she said). I wouldn't mind having one for my new sv650, but they all look pretty short. What brand is it? Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving
True that - meanwhile I already got nearly 15k on my new bike I got last year :) Its easy for me cuz I got a parking garage. Could have 4 bikes if I wish :)
hey man i just wanted to know if you can help me out. I have a ducati monster 620 2003 that i washed. Unfortunately after i washed it didnt want to start. Before hand it started up perfectly. From what i can see it does prime, there is sparks on the lower cylinder and little to none spark at the top cylinder. I also pulled the spark dried them though when i went to take the out they were covered in fuel (mostly the top cylinder spark plug), and black residue is also starting to build up due to the starting attempts. I’d really appreciate any tips or advice. Love videos by the way!!
In my case, whenever I had issues starting or running after a wash or a heavy rain it ALWAYS had to do with coils connections, coils and boots/cables running from spark to coils. I would honestly check that. Hmmmm
02 620, How do you reset the maintenance light off? Getting 160mpg & my fuel light has not come on. I hit 270 deg. over the summer in stop & go traffic.
If you're talking about the "MAInt" message, with the ignition off, hold the left-hand button on the dash down and then turn on the key. Wait about 15 seconds, and the light message should clear.
Yes, typo on my part. 160 to the tank and then I go fill up. I use super from good gas stations. I am gonna push past 160 and see if my light comes on. I plan to carry a small spare tank on this test, for just in case I am not near a station so I don’t run dry 👍🏾

As a fellow Ducati monster owner, let me just say you deserve a medal for 65grand on a Duc!
Ha! Thank you thank you :)
Your best video in a long time man.

Always great to see the old 620!
Always a joy to pull it out

Love that you still have this bike and continue to treat it well. Whoa rebuild comin’ in hot 🔥
I've been talking about this rebuild for far too long. SLACKIN.
@ are you literally swapping engines out or rebuilding the existing?
@ swapping. Already got a “new” 3,000mile engine and wiring harness on hand.
@ this might be scope creep but if you’re swapping engines you’ll have nice trellis access for painting!
@ unfortunately there is a big difference between swapping the engine and taking the bike to the frame. I am not stripping it to the frame.

GREATEST BIKE EVER! Just look at it! So awrsome! 0:53
Its so epic. For such a simple and small and inexpensive bike - its timeless
Thank for the bike review, man! Have you consider any alternatives at that time? How tall are you? Thanks!
You're welcome! My only alternative at the time was a Suzuki SV650, also a great bike. I'm 5 feet 9 inches.
I love the idea of a Ducati. But my old air cooled 865 Bonnie is simple.
this is an old aircooled 620 Monster - as simple as it gets

@vgstb didn't try that or know any one who can.
Oh man, that is a shame. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. As Vgstb said - you can have it welded but that is also some $ and time.
Great video! Any issues with oil consumption? I’ve got a 2011 Monster (803 motor) with around 26k and it likes to eat oil.

It either shows the time or the temp, hit the button a few times. Or perhaps your temp sensor is dead?
