- Historically, men have dominated the Ukrainian military. But positive changes in gender equality began to appear after the start of Russia’s war in eastern Ukraine. Since 2014, more women have been joining the fight. Currently, there are nearly 24,000 women serving in the armed forces and at least 55,600 working in the military. The efforts of Ukrainian women to carve out a place for themselves and change perceptions has not gone unnoticed.

I salute the Ukrainians for their courage to fight Russians despite overwhelming odds. Russians thought that they will overpowered Ukrain within 48 hours but inspite of their best efforts they cannot conquer Ukrain even after 44 days. Hatts off to the Ukrainians. This is a good lesson to people of other countries that however weak a country might be a spirited and determined will of the people to fight for their own motherland will save them from foreign domination.
