The woman approached the soldier on Thursday, who can be seen holding a large machine gun, before asking him, "Who are you... Why did you come here with weapons?"

Also you have no idea what military is like and definetely no clue of how life is in Russia and generally in east europa. You don't just drop your weapon and go back home and pretend nothing happened, there are severe consequences including court-martial and direct prison. It also has consequences on their families.

I do feel bad for the conscripted Russians, they don’t want to be there but it isn’t as simple as they get arrested for a short time over not going, at best they lose everything they have and are thrown into prison for decades, and at worst are practically executed

Secondly she is so emotionally immature she won't even listen to him, only she gets to shout and cry her piece like some child. 2nd edit: I didn't make this comment to say that the soldier isn't in the wrong. I know that if he really wanted to he could have just been sent to a Russian gulag for treason and not fight in Ukraine. Well, Poroshenko and Zelensky have continually been asking for assistance with weapons and handouts from Europe and the US before the came to power. Russia is concerned that Ukraine will become a defacto military base for attacks on Russia. The endgame is to take over Russian oil and gas. Just like what happened in Iraq. But this time could lead to all out nuclear war and destroy the world.

The fact that a fully outfitted and armed soldier in a vastly superior army conceded to an unarmed civilian in an exchange like that shows that he doesn't want to be there in the slightest. The soldier is acting decently and professionally and does not try to escalate and actually agrees with her at a point but knows he has to stand his post and has no choice. The woman's reaction is as you would expect from any average citizen in that situation. Looks like they both on some level agree with each other but are forced by a maniac to be enemies. Weirdly enough the Soldier actually seems to sound like a pretty decent guy. However, for not carrying out your duties as a soldier in Russia you won't get Court Marshalled , you'll be 'targeted' for execution. i.e. covertly put on a 'hit' list and probably get killed buy supposed 'friendly fire' or something like that.

@@LP-mo3sh you gotta remember that Putin basically “saved” Russia from economic ruin after the soviet collapse, so the public opinion of him within the country is actually priddy high. They also do have some priddy valid reasons for the invasion that a lot of people aren’t even aware of (not to say it justifies starting a war for) but the people in Crimea have been suffering due to the closure of a canal that Crimea depended on being shut by Ukraine, they basically have zero water over there and people are really struggling. One of the main objectives here is to reopen that canal to save the 2 million ish people in Crimea, that is by no means the main reason but I think you could understand that this would affect the Russian public’s opinion of the attack. As such there is no way in hell the people collectively would wanna kill Putin.

A large amount of Russian soldiers don't want to fight. I've seen videos of them surrendering and saying they don't want war. Many Russians have family/friends in Ukraine and know they could be shooting at their loved ones. The Russian army is built on fear, fear that they will be severely punished if they disobey their leaders. Any Russian that surrenders or disobeys their leaders are just as much hero's as those fighting for Ukraine. The real and only enemy is Putin and his puppets. They don't want what is best for the people, they want power and to exploit the people that support them. There is no reason Russians should be scared of the west, only the corrupt leaders are scared of losing their power and money.

How do you tell who you're shooting? at soldiers on both sides look exactly the same.
There have already been situations in this war when Ukrainians confused their soldiers with Russians. Who had previously come and captured their stronghold, but these Ukrainians did not know about this, and the Ukrainians helped the Russians defend this stronghold by shooting with them at Ukrainian soldiers, after which they were captured by the Russians
I think the reason this guy is dressed up in this kind of camo is because he is a part of some "national guard" brigade, usually russian brigades carry the green EMR camo while ukrainian forces use tan camo

The woman is speaking informal Russian, but the soldier sticks to formal Russian the entire conversation. It is openly very rude to speak informally to a stranger, even if they're a child. Just an interesting note, everybody else has already commented on his reluctance to argue.

Amazingly, the driver survived but needed help from people who saw it to get out of the car because it was crushed in around him.
