You can actually prevent mean look from trapping you by using full heal before the circle appears. That is because when umbreon casts its mean look there is a time gap between when the eye icon is closed and when its open ( when the eye opens the circle appears). If you use full heal or any unstoppable during the time the eye is still closed mean look will not be able to trap you.
It might sound weird, but I'm honestly looking forward to using wish. I enjoy playing healers already and having a defender that can heal teammates really apeals to me
Umbreon is kinda weird it acts like speedster with foul play. It acts like supporter with wish then acts like an attacker with mean look and finally acts like a defender with Snarl.
@@blackice3661 gameplay wise he’s an incredible mon. Mean look alone will be such a good pick/peel move and being able to pocket heal a carry that’s been jumped on while peeling for them is a godsend the unite is just the icing on the cake. Umbreon is going to be amazing in team fights
@@blackice3661 I guess it depends on your team and how competent they are tbh, foul play is better if your team doesn’t know how to play around meanlook support but even so against something like a dodrio I think mean look will always be better since it’s just a straight hard counter most of the time
I noticed that foul play does damage based on opponent’s attack, but snarl lowers the opponent’s attack, so either go foul play and wish or foul play first and then snarl
I love that they seem to have doubled down on the VGC role of this pokemon as a stalling tank. Considering the motif, it seems like they're giving incentive to run leftovers just like when it was meta in VGC. Since the unite move is so good, I wonder if running amp would be worthwhile here
Love that about it since I've used it like that in battles. For fun might have to try X-Attack + Leftovers&Cookie with the 3rd item as either Barrier, Score Shield, or EXP-Share.
It's so hard to choose what items to run. After the umbreon craze dies down, buddy barrier will be great to stack with stolen shields. But for now I'm thinking leftovers, exp share, and energy Amp. Maybe replace the first 2 with rapid fire and float stone? Aaaaaagh. I'm thinking I'll mostly be playing like glaceon. Staying in the enemy's jungle to steal all their farm and score as much as possible. Self sustaining and escaping would be best then, so running mean look, wish, x speed, float stone, rapid fire, and energy Amp will probably be my setup. If I was defending, leftovers would be better than float stone cuz combining the passive, leftover, and base healing would be super fast and you never have to leave it unguarded. Defending is boring makes my numbers stay small and feel unimportant though so I'll go with the first setup. Using him with my plan will feel like how I used him in Coliseum uwu
@@Subreon Running leftovers on a pokemon that is extremely good in teamfights (or on any pokemon) is like gimping yourself with only 2 active items the whole game since you're only getting the passive recovery out of combat. Very excited to use this as my main Defender/Support 😅 Had no idea the passive recovery was just a natural thing once you got the unite, wow! Love the subtle nod to Moonlight. Think the first items I'll use are Potion + Cookie/Muscle/Scarf. Probably X-Speed too. Though I'm so tempted to try a set with Leftovers in it now too, lol! X-Attack + Leftovers/Cookie/Score-Shield is probably what it'd be 😝
If you intend to defend bases, leftovers, potion, and energy Amp or exp share will probably be best. Cuz then you get the passive, leftovers, wish, and base healing, plus an emergency potion for crazy healing. Attackers will be forced to use their unites on you to do anything, but then you just steal their shield, then with energy amp you'll always be ready to do it again when they come back to try again. After the umbreon craze is done and the enemy doesn't have them anymore, buddy barrier would be great too. With all this stuff combined, you could probably defend against the entire enemy team. You could also keep trapping them if they beat Ray so the shield wears off before they get to your base, then you get the base shield and fight them off. As for me I'm gonna try to keep fighting like I do with glaceon. Self sustaining, stealing all their jungle farm, and scoring as much as possible.
@@Subreon Yeah, definitely some things to consider. I'm totally willing to swap Score-Shield with exp-share but the reason I wanted to try it is the greater amount of given HP and even if your passive activates while scoring with the shield I think that means your shield will be even tougher to break because of the added defenses. Even once less people play Umbreon I think the Barrier shield will be a bit overkill in most situations. The reason I like Cookie is not only the higher survivability but also increasing your healing from the Boosted-Attack and maybe even Wish!
I can't wait to use Umbreon as a mostly main defender in this game, but I think my favourite move will be its Unite move. The hability to steal everyone's shields and become a mostly unkillable beast during the big fights is going to be gamechanging in some matches.
Me who used leftovers cuz I'm new:...what....have i done... But tbh, Umbreon is quite OP. Used the guy as free trial and he is quite the absolute tank.....whom also is a lot more of an annoyance to fight with. Looking at mean look, that is cool yet also annoying. It traps. However, about 3/4 of umbreon's moves are just a counter to mobile hit-and-run units. Foul play lets you stun someone after that second strike, snarl also stuns right after it ends and mean look is just straight up bullying someone trying to flee. He's even more tankier with that shield of his from using snarl and gets absolutely more with wish(which honestly sounds support for my liking, being that you can give hp to teammates....but the fact that you can also grant yourself wish is also a game changer). What's makes him a more pain for those using shields is that his unite steals that crap. As for my conclusion, he's definitely doing more damage than he was intented to due to all these movement restrictions.....and shields(and quite mobile too with foul play that can act like a 'gtfo' ability). He would probably get nerfed with all these movement restrictions, being more flexible with foul play and having shields to improve his overall good bulk.....but if not, I say it's best for teams to immediately target umbreon for the time being.
I think my favorite moves are gonna be Mean Look + Snarl! Having an are where your opponent can't escape and then when they think they can escape, BAM Snarl Stun.
I LOVE mean look. It's so fun watching the enemy try to escape haha. Or when they're about to go into their base and you stop them at the last second? Priceless.

Surely umbreon as a defender isnt gonna outdmg attackers, while having insane amounts off cc and healing more than a trevenant and goodra combined while having a better clefable gravity. Also good job devs for making crustle even more useless.
I tried Lefty's for the HP bonus, and forgot about his passive and it was my first time using Umbreon. And when I tell you, I ended up fighting the entire team alone and holding them off for about 20-30 seconds before my team pulled up to clean them up lol.
It's kinda difficult to balance the viability between Mean Look and Foul Play. They can make the upgrade of Foul Play a regular one to compensate multiple autos inside the circle during Mean Look. Maybe increasing the power of tackle from Foul Play or its radius would be a solution. Nevermind, I can see them just nerfing Mean Look to resolve this issue UPD: Adding an additional passive from learning a Unite move is something new, isn't it?

Muscle Band, Rapid and Weakness policy is a great combo too
I use mean look to escape with low health
Jake…are you going to make an updated emblem video? We need it
Yeah I should soon
mean look is so, so mean, it's gotta be my favorite. I'm eager to try it!
Hey Carutsu! You won an Umbreon! Message me on discord or twitter and I can get you over the code!
my favorite move will definitely be umbreons mean look. will be one ofe the most unique and meta countering abilities to have on a team
just 2 days more for my favorite pokemon… I’m so excited I’ll definitely use mean look/wish
Mean look is going to be great for pokemon that like to run away from you, Dodrio, Sableye, etc
mean look is my favourite move atm, but will also most likely end up being my least favourite when he's on the enemy team lmao
bro imagine enemy wiggly unite moves with theit entire team then umbreon unite moves a second later
Love your content, my favorite move still is blaze kick cinder :)
Mean look will be so mean that it might be broken. The entire kit is to brawl. Feels like goodra but in attack form
I am for sure getting Umbreon as soon as it comes
i’m looking forward to using wish for a fully sustaining brawler build. i love brawling in this game and wish fully enables that with mean look
My favorite move will definitely be its UNITE! It simply a game changer! Absorbing shield, and stunning opponent! It’s simply a game changer! I can’t wait to use umbreon when it release and hope to be able to win your Twitter giveaway :) so excited to try it when it’s release without the need to wait for a week if I manage to win it from your giveaway:) thanks for organizing it!
so glad that my actual main pokemon actually coming to unite
Question why not drain crown? Better recovery and more healing from the attack and basic attacks?
Can pokemon that flies like Eldegoss' ult escape mean look? or dragonites ult
You can escape with talon's fly if you use it immediately when it is cast. If you wait too long and the circle is already around you, I dont think you can escape.
I'm surprised you didn't mention about Umbreon running rescue hood since it's wish can heal allies...and rescue hood can Increase the healing on the ally..
True, but I think a lot of the time you’d rather use Wish on yourself rather than an ally.
@@RyansChannel0203 I haff agree with you.. I feel like he can also being kind of supporter healer tank..
But I agree that most hippest set seems to be more defensive attack then support. But luckily the game allows you to do whatever the heck you want within reason.
the attack speed triniy of drain rapid band could be a nice meme build xD
Wish is actually like a potion where you can use it almost after every 3-5 seconds 😂😂
Pedal dance Venu will probably be a decent counter
Very excited about this. Looking forward to having 5 Eevees on the screen. Mean look is gonna be busted.
Wouldn't raising Umbreons atk mess with foul plays damage? Since its attack damage is based on the difference between Umbreons and the target? Or does it work differently than that's
I think Umbreon would do well with drain crown aeos cookie and attack weight maybe rapid fire scarf
for me mean look it’s very broken and usable, can’t wait to have umbreon, my fav of all the eevolutions
Umbreon is my second fav pokemon of all time! Getting it in the game finally is incredible. Mean Look gonna be insane!
Can't wait to play with and against umbreon. Mean-look will be my go to move
I play Umbreon and I am still undecided with which attacks I should go with. I am an offensive player who likes to score and kill. I think I will go with Mean look and Snarl, and try Foul play from time to time. Any comments? Thanks.
Umbreon healing is unbelievable
So since it steals assault vest shield. I guess that means you can steal the score shield from The score pad held item.?
does snarl’s attack debuff affect foul play’s damage?
Really liking these new thumbnails
