Hey, I’m retired from the grocery industry in East TN - interesting connection there! I’ve been grilling all my life on charcoal, gas, pellet, and Kamado. Just now getting into griddle cooking. Thanks for the very informative videos. Really helps newbies like me!
I like your use of already ground beef for a cheesesteak sandwich. After a few attempts of trying to make a cheesesteak more authentic using thinly sliced beef and chopping it as it cooks, I said what the heck, just use already ground beef, cook, season, add cheese of choice and call it a day. It works. It works well for a homemade cheesesteak. Nice video.
To be honest, I enjoy doing these! I pretty much use the same process, works great with ground sausage as well! Give it a try with pepper jack cheese next time!

Wasn't here last week. Wife had surgery. Now on these cheese steaks I was thinking about that cheez wiz. The only thing I have ever used it for was this ground beef, rotel tomato, cheez wiz, concoction for a dip. It is really good. Now I am pretty sure there is a place in Philadelphia that swears by the cheez wiz on their philly steaks. I have never tried aged gouda, but it sure looks tasty. As far as steaks, well we are fortunate in our area to have "Rouse's Supermarkets". They actually are based out of Thibodaux, la. and have stores from Louisiana to Mississippi, to Alabama. About a month ago they had the whole rib eye racks on sale $6.99lb. sliced free. About 2 weeks ago it was T-Bones for $4.99lb. Of course my first job at age 16 at National Food Store rib eyes were $1.99lb. everyday price, a very long time ago . I know not everyone can get deals depending where they are in the country, but always be on the lookout. Now I would eat these too. With all that being said making sure you mentioned you haven't been right in 20 years made for an awesome video, especially since your wife was doing the filming lol. Great Job!
Wow...great insight...we get some deals like that as well...We stayed In LA for a week during New Years right before Covid and had a blast...that grocery store was our go to and really enjoyed the difference in the options there vs here and there were a ton ahahahaha This one oven had dry aged beef hanging...
Made that pepper steak last night, Taste was out of this world. Every take your cheesesteaks and wrap them in foil for 10 mins? Everything just blends together.
Definitely has the feel but I think still completely Different because of the ingredients not in it...mayo ketchup, lettuce, tomato, Sazon or adobo...but has the feel of one
Not sure if it's better than a real cheese steak or not but I guarantee it's damn good regardless. I been buying some either chuck roast or bottom round roast when on sale and using those in cheese steaks. Is it as good as using ribeye? No but it's still really tasty and inexpensive.
thats the whole idea and you nailed it...dont get locked in on the meat you use...you can substitute a large variety for little effort and great flavor

Great Job!
Wow...great insight...we get some deals like that as well...We stayed In LA for a week during New Years right before Covid and had a blast...that grocery store was our go to and really enjoyed the difference in the options there vs here and there were a ton ahahahaha
This one oven had dry aged beef hanging...
YUMM! I might wear a hole in the Blackstone whipping up this one.
hahahahh add your spin and go for it
Made that pepper steak last night, Taste was out of this world. Every take your cheesesteaks and wrap them in foil for 10 mins? Everything just blends together.
Typically we let it cool down...you are correct...allowing the bread to absorb the juices and grease is key
The poor man’s cheese steak sandwich. I’m gonna give it a try…
Absolutely
Cheez Wiz has it's place and, in my opinion, a cheese steak is one of those places, along with broccoli, cheese, rice casserole.
Nachos....

Perfecto 😊
Did you use 80/20 ground beef for those?
Cheese whiz is the way to go, way better.
Kind of like a Chopped cheese sandwich the sell in Bodegas in Brooklyn and the Bronx
Definitely has the feel but I think still completely Different because of the ingredients not in it...mayo ketchup, lettuce, tomato, Sazon or adobo...but has the feel of one
Grocery store gang!
I'm not going to do cheese whiz on anything. You made a believer out of me and this is going on my blackstone soon.
Yeah i am Definitely not a fan of the wiz
What part of East Tennessee? Sevierville and pigeon forge area here.
knoxville....northwest...
I think this is a chop cheese. Still looks delicious
This is called a chopped cheese and is very popular in NY
Dig the shirt Brotha 😉👌!! What a great Budget friendly cook. All meat prices are ridiculously high lately. 💜 the Po-mans Cheesteak idea. Im with ya on the Wiz… no thanks. Now Gouda, heck even provolone is the way to go (in my opinion)!! Awesome episode y’all, cheers 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
I just saw today after filming this is smoked hot gouda and I about fell on the floor...thats what Im talking about...I wonder if they heard me.ahahhah
@@TheFlatTopKing wait what😳😳??? I would of fell out also. I wonder where i can SCORE SOME 🤣🤔🤔!!
Wow yummy another great recipe 👌🏾❤
Thank you so much
Kroger here has shaved ribeye, but also has packages of simply shaved steak which is less expensive. The shaved steak makes great cheesesteaks. I'm not a Cheese Whiz fan either; prefer the sliced real cheese, provolone for me.
Absolutely great tip...thanks you
Perfect idea, just add what you like and use what cheese you like and there you go you have a cheap easy meal.
Absolutely.
You have to Brown the hamburger until it gets crispy and then use it
ilike to do that with cheese steak steak-ums ...they crumble up nice and are pretty good
We have yet to try steak ums...I think we were going to try on a video one day
