The rear end looks a bit awkward and I’m not a fan of the non-Turbo cars going turbo (as that takes away the awe from the proper Turbos), but otherwise; it’s pretty nice.
Can Tavukçuoğlu - The turbos are a big thing for me though. They aren’t better for fuel economy or the environment. They are only better than NA cars on a dyno and operating under perfect conditions. Plus, having them on the mainstream 911’s take away the awe around the Turbo, Turbo S and GT2. But that’s my take on it.

Same here. It usually takes me a few months to really appreciate Porsche changes but I tend to come around. I bought a 2018 GTS last year so I'm still partial to that style.

It still has buttons and knobs for climate control and volume adjustment, just not drive mode...........so if your concern is safety, only change the drive mode at a stoplight. What are you gonna do? Drive a 1997 Buick Century for the rest of your life?
And thats why i like BMW these days. They have a good balance. No unnecessary buttons you dont need, but the right physical buttons you frequently use. Not cluttered and still the superior function, convenience and safety of physical buttons.
By the way i agree with you. The worst piece of crap out there is the range rover velar. It's slow, its not intuitive, therefore obviously less/not safe. Greasy finger prints galore That thing is the best example of everything wrong with the overblown touch screen trend im afraid we will have to live with, dont think its going away. But that car actually pisses me off.

I bet the actual 0-60 times for the Carrera S will be closer to 3 flat, maybe even into the high 2s. The 991.2 Carrera GTS can pull off 3 flat with the PDK and it has about the same power as the 992 Carrera S. The 997.2 Turbo could hit 60 in 2.9 with the PDK, so that's something.
I think the opposite. The interior really reminds me of the classic 911s with separated dashboard gages and with that horizontal flat shape of the IP top hat.
Didn't neccesserily lose the 911 character but I just much prefered the tall and steep center column with the shifter high up next to the steering wheel. Made it feel much smaller and sportier. This is more of a GT layout in my opinion

992 is a stunning impression of a 911 for me. The retro touches from the 70's models plus the well awaited new digital and analogue interior, i'm all in for. The purist on rennlist can buy the 964, 993 they are plenty out of there on the market if you're gonna be so critical of everything.
Blazed you gotta be a 911 fan to notice or you could just watch the premier video. The hood is from the 70’s 911. The interior dash as well is horizontal like the old days. The full rear light strip. Etc .
Great job Harry, I was definitely right there with you in pure 911 bliss. Great vid! Not sure about the rear end of it. I don’t like how all modern cars are getting bigger & bigger wheels, it ruins the ride quality, 19inch wheels are big enough for most cars to fit their brakes etc.
Not only that, but using paddles constantly gets tiring. It's great for track days, but on the back roads you sometimes just want to lean back and keep one hand on the wheel while resting the other on the shifter. What a shame.
It's way too big, such was the case with the 991. The 997 was the better generation of modern day Porsche's, these last two generations have been ridiculously huge.

I think it’s lovely. I drove a 981 cayman GTS for about 200 miles yesterday, that car in sport plus with the rev matching and sports exhaust is epic, saying that, in sport you can match the revs yourself. I think they’ve made a mistake here on the 992 not leaving the proper lever in for the PDK. Any performance car I’ve owner that was an automatic I’ve always enjoyed thrashing the lever back and forth even if it’s not the same as a manual it harks back to that either way. Good to know that there will be a manual. Also on the design front I think it looks really nice and will grow on me even more. Really great looking car.
You had to get the word "Beetle" in there somewhere, didn't you?! I used my PDK central shifter for 1st-2nd out of junctions because with a rotating steering wheel I could never find a paddle. Also, at a visit to Santa Pod, I came up against my mate in his manual. We decided the fairest way for me to do my run was to use the central shifter. Not only did I beat him, but I recorded my personal best time out of my 12 runs! Faster than the paddles and faster the fully automatic. Great video, Henry. Plenty to digest - thank you.

But that said the 812 superfast is 1.8 million kilos and everyone seems to rave about it. I've just noticed that my armchair is oh so comfortable.

People use the column mounted shifter. Much more satisfying to engage. Paddles are boring unless you are on a track.

Victor K From what I've heard, Porsche believed that people weren't using the gear shift capabilities of the 991 shifter, so they discarded it.
Buttons are better than screens. I'd prefer it to have no screen.
