This is one Brahms composiution that should be more widely known than it actually is, IMO. I have loved it since the first time I heard it many years ago.
I liked this version, but sometimes they sound disconnected.. there is a version with Maria João Pires, Augustin Dumay and Jian Wang that is perfect! they are so into the song in a way that you can feel the energy os every note
Wang's cello sound can be a bit grainy, almost like a violin in the higher notes. Ma's is more mellow/warm. For tonal purity, Starker's cello really excels and there is a recording with Starker doing this piece. In this piece there is already a real violin and there is no need for the cello to pretend to be a second violin.

見事な演奏です。ブラームスの抒情、歌心が心に染み込む。それにしても冒頭のテーマは素晴らしい。こんな旋律はブラームスにしても滅多に書けないのではと思います。

@@tt-ew7rx I like the fact Jian played with more power and personalities, unlike most recordings with plain generic cello sound.
Agreed!
the first part of the third movement sounds like beethoven's piano sonata with a violin and cello attached ;o

+Benjamin Moss-Horwitz Crying when listening to good music isn't automatic with most people even if it is with me.
+Benjamin Moss-Horwitz If they just sway back and forth when listening to it that should be enough to convince you they are enjoying it.
Song?
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh.
Brahms substantially reworked this early piece much later in his life. This is probably the revised version.
It is.
