The thing that makes this song unique as a breakup song is that there is no bad guy -- just two people whose lives (together) have gone in different directions. Then one day they discover that they are strangers. Great song, great singer, great reaction.
I completely agree with everything you said Miss Tasha. When people are ranking the best of Country women, no one should ever look past Patty. I'd put her right up there among the greats; Dolly, Reba, Patsy, Loretta, Tammy, and Carrie. To name a few. Patty's voice is so unique, her tone, her inflections, and the power behind it, all make her a legend in my opinion. 🤠
She's one of my favorite vocalist. Makes me Proud to be a Kentuckian. Check out her singing live You'll never leave Harlan alive. I think the reason she gets so emotionally invested in You'll never leave Harlan alive is the fact that with just a few differences she's almost singing about her own life. In her live performance she gives some context that will help you understand.
Tasha I knew you would love this one!!Speaking of Patty Loveless, she along with Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers performed at a sold out benefit called “Kentucky Rising” concert at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY Tuesday night to help the folks in Eastern Kentucky that were devastated by the flooding in July. Over $2.5 million was raised and 100% of the proceeds went to the aid relief! Patty sang “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am” and “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”.
Patty Loveless (born Patricia Lee Ramey, January 4, 1957) Lovelees has charted 44 Singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including five which reached number one: "Timber", I´m Falling i Love", "Chains", "Blame It on Your Heart", "You Can Feel Bad", and "Lonely Too Long". Thanks Tasha! For a great "Patty Loveless" song! 🙂
Some wise person said that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. This song is about two people who got there a long time ago. And, like you said, the vocal that Patty delivers live in this video is chilling. Great reaction!
Good Morning, Tasha. I love Patty Loveless. I love how her voice still sounds so...Kentucky. Lol. I had the privilege of meeting her in Detroit when I was in the late 80s or early 90s and having my picture took with her. She was a very sweet lady and hadn’t been out that long then. I got to meet Aaron Tippen that night too. Another very nice guy.
Patty Loveless is definitely my all time favorite singer and is one of the greatest, most criminally underrated singers of all time. Not just in country music, but in music in general. She and Loretta Lynn are distant cousins so naturally, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
When you fall for Patty, you fall hard. Not only is she beautiful and has that wonderful voice, but she is also a very sweet person. I met her in 1992 and she so down to earth and caring to her fans. I even managed to get a kiss on the cheek and a hug from her that night! 💋
Since you are into Patty you should try some of her Bluegrass music, check out you’ll never leave Harlan alive, and pretty Polly with Ralph Stanley live at the Grand old Opry. 😊
This was written by the great Gretchen Peters who also wrote Faith Hill’s ”The Secret of Life” and Martina McBride ”Independence Day”. She also sings her own songs. Check her out, try ”The Matador”, ”Blackbirds”, ”Circus Girl”, ”Waiting for the Light to Turn Green”
I agree with you, Patty is awesome! PATTY is also Loretta Lynn's cousin. She has a very interesting story she tells about her being at a Loretta concert and reaching out for Lorettas hand and Loretta taking it, patty was a young girl..then later finding they were related...ty, you also do an awesome job with LL...
"He called her to say he was sorry, but he couldn't remember what for." Two people get married and forget to care for the love they planted until one day it dies--and they didn't even realize it.
One of the greatest & most under rated voices in the history of music- across all genres. On top of that she is a wonderful, humble, & generous human being.
The woman who made Vince Gill a star. As you said Patty's live performances are incredible! Great reaction, exciting fun and relaxing all at the same time!🎤🔥👏 Patty's masterpiece: 'You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive', Live, on the stormsontheocean yt channel.🏆
If you like Patty, and you like story telling, then listen to her live version of "You'll never leave Harlan Alive" It's her best work ever. Plus its got all those cool instruments you love so much.
Patty and Trisha Yearwood are 2 of the best country singers. Saw Trisha in concert and she can sing this well live. So glad others recognize Patty's incredible voice
Another great Kentucky artist. Patty has one of the most powerful voices. She was also one of George Jones's favorite artists. I saw her live She had a phenomenal show
Patty Loveless is my favorite female artist. Her voice is reaches deep to the depth of my soul. She sang a song about her family heritage and live. You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. There is a live performance. Amazing!!!
She is awesome. Just a stunning vocalist. I never got the chance to see her in person but I had all her music. She has many awesome songs. Try "If My Heart Had Windows" or "Don't Toss Us Away" Thanks for the reaction. T
Yes! Today’s country is missing artists like Patti! You could hear heart and soul and sadness through every aspect of this song. You don’t hear it really much at all these days. Top notch reaction!
I am so grateful this is not my relationship but having parents and in laws that were divorced after 16 and 30 years respectively this song hits so hard
You nailed it when you said that it’s two people that have grown apart and if they had had this conversation sooner then maybe they could save it. I know I relate to this song because my ex wife and I grew apart. Maybe if we’d had a talk like this before it was too late we might have been able to save it.
I remember the first time I heard this song, it stopped me in my tracks and had me crying. What a pure voice! thank you for reacting to this song. I needed to hear this....

That was a really good song. Patty’s voice is a thing of beauty. The steel guitar, her voice, the lyrics, just perfect. ❤️

Well that made me cry...never has before...just hit home this time! 🥲
Powerful...Powerful Stuff.

I'm not prone to celebrity crushes but I had a big crush on her back in the 80s & 90s.
When you fall for Patty, you fall hard. Not only is she beautiful and has that wonderful voice, but she is also a very sweet person. I met her in 1992 and she so down to earth and caring to her fans. I even managed to get a kiss on the cheek and a hug from her that night! 💋
Hell i still do !
Same here.
Patty is one of the greatest. She and Loretta Lynn are second cousins.
When Tasha brings out the “Dang Patty!”, you know it’s a good one 😂 🤠
Beautiful song with haunting pedal steel guitar! Love Patty Loveless’ voice.
Since you are into Patty you should try some of her Bluegrass music, check out you’ll never leave Harlan alive, and pretty Polly with Ralph Stanley live at the Grand old Opry. 😊

Fantastic Song ! Lyrics are 💯 true ☝
SAME COIN flip DIFFERENT SIDES shows depending on where you're standing 🕯🕊
Isn't Patty Loveless related to Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle?
Yep they cousins
She has always been one of the most underrated singers of all music. Very few singers can sing live like she can.
Patty can SANG
Great reaction
Patty has always been one of my favorite female singers. Doesn't hurt that her and Loretta Lynn are cousins. Something to be said about genetics.
Thanks for that info...I had no idea they were related. I'm a big fan of both!
Don't forget Crystal Gayle is Lorettas baby sister, another of Patty's cousins.
Great reaction to a great song
Peace, Love Girl!!

Yes! Today’s country is missing artists like Patti! You could hear heart and soul and sadness through every aspect of this song. You don’t hear it really much at all these days. Top notch reaction!
Patty is the Queen of Country!!
Have you listened to her song "You'll never leave Harlan alive"? If not you should. It is about her past.
I love her voice. I love the story in this song. I've pretty much lived that with my first husband.
You should give Patty's song Halfway down a listen another great one from her.
I am so grateful this is not my relationship but having parents and in laws that were divorced after 16 and 30 years respectively this song hits so hard
This sounds way better than the studio version. How is that even possible ? Blows my mind !
You nailed it when you said that it’s two people that have grown apart and if they had had this conversation sooner then maybe they could save it. I know I relate to this song because my ex wife and I grew apart. Maybe if we’d had a talk like this before it was too late we might have been able to save it.
Patty Loveless
"The Trouble With The Truth"
It’s funny. I always said I feel the the steel guitar sounds like it’s crying in this song. We need more of it.
Tasha, you nailed it in saying that today's Country is missng some, (if not all) of the elements that Patty delivers! She still has the talent.
This is so beautiful write to the heart what a misunderstanding so real ❤❤❤❤😮
Can someone tell me if that was Emory Gordy on the mandolin? He never looked up.
I feel the same way about that song Teresa Jackson
Seen her in Cadot Wisconsin! Wowsers!
