Boss Hogg, Rosco and Scott Baio on CBS Saturday Morning Cartoon Preview 1983

This rare clip, edited to improve visual and audio clarity and to focus on relevant Dukes content, features highlights from the CBS Saturday Morning Cartoon Preview Special which promoted the new fall cartoon lineup in 1983. By this time, "The Dukes" cartoon, an animated spinoff from The Dukes of Hazzard, had already survived over a dozen episodes with animated versions of Coy and Vance substituting for Bo and Luke. (at the time, Tom Wopat and John Schneider were on strike against Warner Bros.) There was much hoopla as Tom and John settled their dispute with Warner Bros. and returned to their roles as Bo and Luke, in both the live-action Dukes of Hazzard and The Dukes cartoon. Sadly, "The Dukes" managed only several weeks of new episodes, and last aired Oct. 29, 1983. Scuttlebutt has it that Wopat and Schneider's contract terms were pricey enough to discourage WB pursuing the animated series beyond it's 1-season debut. Anyway, at the time of this promotional special, "The Dukes" was one of several Saturday morning cartoons proudly announced by CBS in this special hosted by Scott Baio. I've left small bits of the other cartoons in this edit, but mostly focused on the antics of Sorrell Booke and James Best, who enjoyed hamming up their Boss and Rosco roles.

The other real reason that The Dukes cartoon didn't really last, was because of how cheap Hannah Barbara was. They had a constant stream of one season shows that nobody actually remembers

Kind of weird for countryside folks, like JD and Rosco, to be in a city club, like this one.
