Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been cry panicking tonight because my machine locked up and I have a lot of custom work to finish. It’s literally midnight when I found your video. You’ve saved me and now I can sleep peacefully and start working fresh in the morning.
Thank you so much! Eight years later and you are still helping people. Your video clearly showed me how to unlock my machine by releasing the finger and being able to remove thread stuck in the hook! Perfect instructions to fix my thread jam!
Thank you ! After perusing countless videos on how to clear the jam, yours I found to be straightforward visually and verbally. I was able to fix my machine thank God using your demonstration.
You just save my weekend deadlines. Thank you thank you. I thought my machine was totally messed up - first time it's locked up in 2 years and it was exactly the fix your video showed.
Thank you I just timed the hook on my Pfaff 138 by watch the first half of you video, about 25 times. Been working on it for 2 days...found your video an an few attempts got it right on, again thank you
Many, many thanks for this great tutorial. I broke a needle last week on my jack f4, changed it but it wouldn't pick the bobbin thread. After not been able to sew the whole of this week, I was able to adjust my hook timing thanks to your fantastic tutorial. Really appreciate it.
I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. My machine was completely locked up, and it is 2 days before Christmas with projects still to complete. You just saved Christmas for me. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!!! I'm in the middle of sampling jeans for range selling. I'm already behind schedule and over budget 😬 This just saved me $300.00 and a weeks wait. Thank you you have no idea how relieved I am!!!
You saved my bacon today. I've got this juki and for the last couple of years its been problem free and wonderful. its only issues are only ever purely my fault. We live waaaaaay out in the woods on a small island with limited resources at best so I'm hooped for help when i really screw up. I massively jammed my machine yesterday doing something stupid from being too distracted. Anyways it required me to take so much of the underside of the machine apart to dig out a wad of thread. got it back together but the timing was still slightly off today despite fiddling with it to death yesterday. This video helped me get it back in order. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to make it. Explained so clearly. this isn't the first of your videos I've used to get me out of a jam either.
Wow you really saved my life here! I was on a deadline when this problem occurred, and I never would have thought I could fix it on my own. thank you so much!
Thought maybe it was the timing. But after removing the feed dogs I found thread that was jammed underneath from the bobbin. Now my machine works. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I Tried to follow the manual for my machine, which made no sense. You explained it perfectly. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😘
Thank you sir for this video , you have help me big time unlike the company that purchased my machine from . I am having problems with thread breaking and the chain stitch not being the same on the underside of the fabric .
By the way, the hook timing is set as follows. Put in a brand new Schmetz needle with the long groove to the left, ensure it is pushed all the way up into the Needle Bar Hole. Turn the machine over slowly in the normal direction, when the Needle Bar is at the bottom of it's stroke, keep turning the hand wheel so the Needle Bar lifts 3-1/16". At that point the point of the hook should be as close as possible the the needle without touching it, it should also be 1-1/16" above the top of the needle eye. Richard Australia.
Good Tiffany, after a while (years) every time the needle is changed a little more lint is forced up in to the needle hole above the needle, thus making it lower. That could well be what happened in your case. Glad all is ok now. ASCMCo.
+Richard Francis on that model there should be two lines or marks on the needle bar, they show where the bottom stroke is & if you keep turning your wheel in the correct direction to the last mark or line that is where the point of the hook should be for timing the needle to hook relation. so it is easier then trying to use a small steel rule for measuring it. I also agree that you should never put a screw driver in the basket where this guy says to do it, cause you can cause a bur to develop from that. I would just remove the positioning finger & turn the machine wheel to you get at the three small screws that hold the basket in the hook and remove the basket to get the thread out. I think that the guy in the video should not be aload to be in the same room of a sewing machine much less repairing it
Hi Kickstart, well said, however if the machine is an older one the needle bar could be from another machine. I am a bit of a perfectionist mate so that is why I always use a 6" rule, the lower bush could have also been moved. There is another way, use a Vernier Caliper and poke the slide down onto the top of the needle bar or even in it. This is my preferred method but most people would not know or have a Vernier. Thanks Mate, Take Care. Cookey.
Please what to do when you run the motor and it turns very fast by itself, however when you hang on the belt and the machine running very slow. Why? Please help me. Thanks
Mr. Levy thank you for the great video . L.G. Scarf It's called the "scarf". The hook has to pass through the SCARF, on the back side of the needle. The "groove" is on the front of the needle, to provide relief space for the thread as the needle punctures the fabric.
Thank you for this video. The only problem I have is trying to find screwdrivers that will fit the tiny slots in the small screws on the bobbin case and carriage. Do you have any suggestions for screwdrivers?
Thank you, Worked on my Chandler DY-337 You are a project saver. one more vinyl dining room seat to go and only about 22 inches to sew on a boxing. Thank you very very much.
Mr. Levy. I have an industrial sewing machine, singer 281-1, but the thread is not catching on the fabric. Does it have to to with the hook timing? I would appreciate if you can tell me why is not sewing. Thank you. Also thank you for the excellent video.
Thank you so much for this helpful video! Unfortunately I have had to refer to it twice as we've had thread stuck in the bobbin case twice. Is there something to do different to prevent it? We have a Consew P1206RB.
Thanks for the video. I accidentally put a scissor underneath the needle and when i switched the machine on, the needle hit the scissor and broke. Now my machine can't sew. What might be the reason? Was needle holder affected 😢
Budget Juki - Free We were given by a friend a JUKI DDL-8700-7 Comes with a computer that is said not to be working (JUKI CP-160) When the power switch to the machine is turned on the CP-160 turns on and everything seems to look ok. But when I push on the pedal nothing runs. It does not show any error display or code to work with. With your experience, I was hoping for any advice as to where or what I should try?
Good explanation but this did not help me at all my bobbin holder and then thing around it moves at the same time and my needle won't go through it there's no thread stuck
Hi, I just wanted to say, thank you so much. You really helped us tremendously with this video. You really know your stuff, that's for sure. Do you sell a binder attachment foot for this machine? Thank you so much for your amazingly helpful videos!
