Well if the game isn't to easy while playing properly it isn't really a bad thing, esspesially seeing as Civ isn't the type of game series where you play all of them, and the steam page mentions something about a tutorial so presumably once that is done it will allow for more stuff
Would have liked a more sophisticated AI to scale the difficulty levels, of course there needs to be lower levels for new players - but so far not much in the way of seeing improvements mentioned in the AI tactics vs Civ 6 - that’s concerning …
Beginner friendly, more inclusive, global warming 😅 people complaining they cant finish the game because they dont have the attention span. Then dont play. Lots of us have no problem "keeping up" and not getting "bogged down"

You don't lose your existing stuff, you basically get to pick a new set of abilities when you switch to a new civilization, lots more things unlock, etc
So as the interview does mention, this game has been in development since pre-pandemic (2018 or 19). Humankind did not come out until 2021. When they started Civ 7 they would not of been aware of Humankind's mechanics and thus a lot of similarities between the two are mostly coincidental. Hopefully they saw the failures of Humankind's attempts at the multi-civ and tried to avoid the same mistakes.

Have a tutorial campaign for beginners, don't dumb the game down for everybody else who's been fans of the game for years.
