Poledouris is indeed in debt with classical masters such as Prokofiev and Rosza, nonetheless his work is a brilliant re-elaboration. The wide range of motifs, from brooding darkness to joyful epic, to intimate sensitiveness and the masterful combination of instruments is one of finest in the history of epic movies.
In fact I do like it more than the original. There is a lot of new things here that change the way it sounds. But its simply great. There is a broadness to the themes now and there are new bold themes introduced that I like. Definitely a great piece!

Hey there! I'm a writer, and I was hoping to use this in a book I'm working on. Is this a quote from somewhere? Because if it is I'd like to credit it properly.
I purchased this superb set back in 2010 when it was released by Tadlow Music and Prometheus Records . For me, it has become my preferred recording of this classic score. The attention to detail in reconstructing the score is remarkable. The sound quality is crisp and vibrant. The performance excellent. Had Basil lived to hear this recording I suspect he would have been thrilled with how it turned out. Buy this one up today!
I do agree, but it is not flawless. at times it is oversaturated, which is really a shame. But it is so good anyway. I am going to skate to this, next season.
Wow! While the new Prometheus rendition of Riddle of Steel was a bit of a let-down, this one's absolutely bombastic. I might like this one even more than the original. Fantastic job.
I need to bring this to the front once more. It is not the same without Mako: "Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. so fantastic again here are really people who only release half of a soundtrack most of the tracks are missing or you can't even write I call it bullshit
I listend to "Riders of Doom," eh.. not impressed. Went into this one with low expectations and... holyyyyyy shittttttt. This was outstanding. The nuance was nuts!
Thanks for uploading, though the original recording is classic and I grew up with it, this one is objectively of the highest quality. Played on a good system it really let's you hear that throbbing, hard, wet percussion.
I think the trumpet sounding parts in the original were a French Horn. Later in the soundtrack, Poledoris has a slower version of this, and that is played on a Bassoon (I think). Great soundtrack!
I listen to this whenever I need motivation for a workout. Works in no time. It's either this or listening and watching the Rocky 4 montage. They just don't make stuff like this anymore. You can have all your technology today but what has it done but made people lazier. I much rather go back to the 80's when men were men and we had testosterone fueled action movies and musical scores. Now with the emergence of the SJW movement infiltrating all forms of entertainment and making it a crime to be Alpha. I mean they already ruined StarWars. Now their in the process of doin it to the Terminator franchise. God help us all. No wonder young. and middle aged men are so confused these days. It's by design. We must unite and fight back. I hope Terminator Dark Fate is the biggest bomb of all time. All men should boycott that crap. Avatar too since Cameron greenlighted it.
I'm in my 50's and my doctor prescribed me this soundrack as a testosterone replacement therapy.

The original manthem with brawny, thundering percussion and clarion-calling brass. A most excellent performance!
best soundtrack ever
