We all were Elliot when E.T. first came out, whether we were 7 or 70, so when Elliot and E.T. reunited, it was like seeing an old friend. God, I wish we still made movies like this!
Sadly never again because movies are now fully about how it will sell, these were times when movies were still going outside of the box doing something different without just following the "what already sells" formula.
This! I think Drew said something similar during the reunion episode of her talk show, where she says ET wouldn't have worked if they hadn't gotten Elliott right. He was every kid. We saw ourselves in him.
Im crying like a baby watching this. It's so cute how ET takes to Elliots family so quickly. ET is the cool uncle all the kids love at family gatherings
OMG Same and to believe it's been so many years since it came out blows my mind it only feels like yesterday I saw this in the movie theaters I really liked seeing this.
When I first saw ET my daughter was an infant, she is now a 40 year old wife and mother and I'm a grandmother. This movie had a profound effect on people. It just seemed to have everything. I read one story that an autistic child that had never spoken before began talking after seeing ET. I wish we could return to this kind of entertainment again. The world needs it desperately.
Society has lost its way in terms of imagination and epic storytelling in the last 40 years. More so in the last 20 years....and I think its correllated to the advent of the internet. Movie makers now just produce woke garbage with political identity messages and its sad really.
I saw much remember the first time I saw E.T. movie at the cinéma. I was with my father and only had 4 years old. I quite have 50 ans my father is death.... Thank you Mister Spielberg for this movie, I 'd never forget it.
I remember growing up in the late 80's and watching this with my father. When E.T. said "I'll be right here." That got me because it's something my father has always said, even until the moment he passed away in my arms this past year. I can still feel his presence as I visit him every single day. Thansk for this. ❤
I'm so very sorry for your loss. You're dad is always with you as long as you remember him and the good times you had, including watching E.T together. You will see him again someday. In the meantime, make wonderful memories with your family. God Bless.
This truly had me in tears there seeing ET meet adult Elliot with his family, and warms my heart too see his kids get to experience meeting ET in person.
Spielberg never actually wanted a sequel to E.T. because he thought it would spoil 'the virginity of the first movie'. The sequel was originally going to be evil aliens who kidnapped Elliot and his friends, and E.T. would save them all. But this makes a much better idea for a semi-sequel, an ad that wanted to not be annoying so it essentially extended E.T. canon
@@MusicBound Actually, the original idea for the sequel of ET was rewritten and eventually became the 1984 movie "Gremlins." Take a look, you'll see their heads are similarly shaped, lol.
I'm a grown 41 year old Mum and E.T was in just the other night I sat there and cried (yet again) at the ending whilst my 6 year old nephew was just lost for words as to what was happening to me. I just didn't care as this movie is a part of mine and my sister's childhoods and will forever remain so until the end of time x

There was a full movie sequel to E.T. being planned & from what i was told it came very close to fruition. I am so glad that they left ET alone & dumped the idea of the sequel. I was 14 when it came out & watched it around 6 times at the cinemas & over the years on VHS, DVD,BLURAY well over 50 times. To me the movie partly defined my life as a child ,adolescent & Adult & it's soundtrack was the main reason as to why i became a professional Musician. The movie taught me how to love, respect others, respect people who are diffrent, trust, honesty, integrity & being loyal to ones beliefs. It is still my favourite movie & IMO the best movie ever made & musically the last 15 mins of the movie the best music i have ever heard & played. The world needs more movies like this.
This is wonderful and yes the music and the commercial made me cry. I watched E.T with my kids many years ago, and I still watch it even today. Merry Christmas Everyone!
Oh Sky, now you've made us cry again after 40 years. It's nice to somehow see a happy ending to that sad moment when E.T. left Elliot to go to his home planet. It's Elliot' skids turn to experience flying through the sky on their bikes. "Twas magical 40 years ago, still is now.
I picked up on a Peter Pan parallel (remember how Mary was reading Peter Pan to Gertie while E.T. healed Elliott's cut finger). In J.M. Barrie's original Peter Pan, Peter came back when Wendy was a grown woman with a family and took her daughter Jane to Neverland. Here, E.T. returns when Elliott is a grown man with a family and takes his children flying. And Elliott doesn't seem to mind, because, like Jane, it's their turn now.
If this is the only sequel we ever get, I'm happy with it. It's enough to know, not just that E.T. has a wife and child now, but that Elliott has a happy family life and is a better father to his own kids than his was to him. (Before this, some people who speculated about where Elliott would be now thought his life would go down the tubes in adulthood because something something childhood disillusionment something something grimdark is kewl something something edgelord. Nice to see this little mini-sequel proving that wrong.) I also love that the vibe I get off Elliott's wife isn't "MY GOD MY HUSBAND IS BFFs WITH AN ALIEN" but "So THIS is the alien Elliott told me about," because of course her husband wouldn't hide such a vital part of his past from the woman he loves. But the one and only thing that would have made this better? If the siblings and their families were ALSO visiting for the holidays. Can't you imagine Drew Barrymore as she is now, stopping dead in her tracks and whispering, "...E.T.?"
E.T. is a movie that is near and dear to my heart ❤️. A timeless classic. I'll always cherish the moment I met Henry Thomas earlier this year at Atlanta Comicon in February. Very nice and down to earth person
This gives me chills! What a wonderful ad. They managed to put the magic into it. It was great to see "Elliot" again, along with E.T.! And the little girl who played his daughter looked so much like Drew Barrymore did in the movie that she really could have been Elliot's daughter.

I always cry at the end of the movie, so this got to me as well! Such a touching commercial. I don’t think a second ET movie would be great like the first one, so when they got the okay to make this commercial, I was happy bc they did it well! Absolutely love it!!
I was keeping my grandson for a few days, he wasn't even 2 yet, and I wondered if he would like this movie or if it would affect him. He was glued to the screen for the entire time. He was beginning to talk, and when my daughter was driving him back home, all of a sudden he said, ET phone home! Blew her away, LOL
OMG... I fudge-rucking LOVE this! As I watched, my heart felt that same sense of joy & then the heavy sense of loss that I had felt when I watched the movie for the first time...
When I was a child, my grandparents gave me a VHS for Christmas, it came with the ET cassette. I was around 6yo. It was the best gift ever. I used to watch ET after school every single day for the next 2-3 years wishing to have the same experience as Elliott (lol). My grandpa passed away 20 years ago and my granny just 5 years ago, and now every time I heard ET's theme soundtrack or the movie I cry as it reminds me the best old days when we used to have christmas together. A grown man crying... so embarrasing. Damn! I miss them so much
I'm at the same age as Drew Barrymore and I saw this in real time at the cinema. This brought tears to my eyes on an instant, remembering my father who took me to see it.
Born in 1994 & never saw ET Just went with my AMC A list memebership to watch it for first time ever on big screen & I loved it so much. Coming to see this after the fact, so well done
This advert somehow touched my soul...as E.T was my first cinema movie experience as a kid. Brought my 1st experience right back like Marty McFly in 4 minutes!
I think it´s better than a proper sequel. It was a fantastic idea to remind us of the wonder we experienced so many years ago when we first saw E.T. I am 90 now and I thought that my well of tears was already dry - evidently there are many happy tears left.

Amazing!! Well done Sky ❤️ Who knew a 4 minute ad could be so emotional. I had tears in my eyes watching this. Just fantastic. ET 2 in 4 minutes with lots of nods to the original film. One of the best Christmas ads I’ve ever seen. 👏🏻
They need more ads like this. I also enjoyed those extended Seinfeld and Superman commercials.

Impossible not to cry with this video :,)
Omg. Please make this a movie. What a legendary movie
Thank you for this! It made my day, my week, my month and even my year.
Was just listening to some John Williams scores and remembered this commercial. The bond between ET and Elliot always has brought tears of joy …
Wow,they met again🎄and flied together,what a lovely xmas present💜
OMG OMG OMG! WTF! As a 47 yr old those day.........tears are flowing
I always cry at the end of the movie, so this got to me as well! Such a touching commercial. I don’t think a second ET movie would be great like the first one, so when they got the okay to make this commercial, I was happy bc they did it well! Absolutely love it!!
I wasn't a big ET fan when I first saw it as a kid but this made me grin from ear to ear.
When Elliott reunites with ET... It's one of the most wonderful moments of pop-culture in the last 35 years...
Aww just loved seeing ET again ☺️
OMG... I fudge-rucking LOVE this! As I watched, my heart felt that same sense of joy & then the heavy sense of loss that I had felt when I watched the movie for the first time...
Precioso y emocionante.el reencuentro entre Elliot ya adulto y su familia con E.T.
This made me tear up. So heartwarming ❤❤❤
OMG I FEEL FEELING!!! This made me sob and cry like a baby
Damn! I miss them so much
90s baby here checking in all the classics that made my childhood golden and to die for. gets me emotional lowkey lol. Thank You
Amazing idea, and amazing work..
Brought back many memories, of a great time period for growing up..
Thank you
Who ever had this idea deserves a raise
Damn tears are coming all over again 😭
This is precious as heck
I'm at the same age as Drew Barrymore and I saw this in real time at the cinema.
This brought tears to my eyes on an instant, remembering my father who took me to see it.
DAMN IT!!!!! i watched the classic film on vhs and it amazed the hell outta me, this brought my childhood back to me, thank you so much
Born in 1994 & never saw ET
Just went with my AMC A list memebership to watch it for first time ever on big screen & I loved it so much.
Coming to see this after the fact, so well done
This advert somehow touched my soul...as E.T was my first cinema movie experience as a kid. Brought my 1st experience right back like Marty McFly in 4 minutes!
Sometimes i feel emotionally set up... and i love it! I remember watching this with my Mom and Dad at Christmas that year. Simply lovely.🥰
So emotional. I’ve only just realised who he is. And found this 🥰
This is how you perfectly introduce Nostalgia into films or in this case, shorts!
Hit me hard in every good and tearful and nostalgic possible way
Holy crap! I can’t believe I cried.
This is like the sequel we all hoped for.
I think it´s better than a proper sequel. It was a fantastic idea to remind us of the wonder we experienced so many years ago when we first saw E.T. I am 90 now and I thought that my well of tears was already dry - evidently there are many happy tears left.
