Horror, at its core, is primal. You don't need a multi-million dollar design budget or advanced realtime bullet physics to make something scary. You just have to have an idea that is raw, and the honesty to execute it. P.T. perfectly illustrates this point. It takes place entirely in one hallway. It didn't have complicated AI. There weren't a dozen characters to design and model. Hell, there weren't even that many scares. And it was absolutely terrifying. It distilled the concepts of the ill-fated Silent Hills into a dense moment of terror. It was its own compact experience, and a glimpse into something much more. Many games have tried to imitate P.T. in content. A million spooky hallways with a trillion collectible notes. Some of these are fantastic. But what about that concept? To distill your dream project into something condensed, raw, and real? That was the question posed to 10 brilliant creators. Make a PT for the horror project of your dreams. Both a game on its own, and a window into a much larger world. Make it raw. Make it real. Make it a reflection of your own fears. Make it in just 7 days.dread x, dread x collection, summer nights, summer night, summer night airdorf, horror, survival horror, indie game, indie game, horror indie game, scary indie game, scary indie games, scary, mrkravin, cjugames, jonh wolfe, outlast, P.T., PT, silent hill, until dawn, scariest, scary games, horror games, silent hills, dread x collection gameplay, dread x collection review, the pony factory, jumpscare, And they did. Allison: I’m on a mission in space
“Wouldn’t it be crazy if Allison was in space and Micheal was on Earth”
Also they misread the 9 month job as Michael’s, not Alison’s. 🤦 The wording was weird there though, and it is kind of confusing having Michael(?) voice a letter from Allison
@@DeathnoteBB No, it's just voiceover guy voicing all the "letters". The letter was supposed to be Allison to Michael, female to male, but because a male is voicing it it gets really confusing.
@@Raidenze precisely, i was confused to why he gave a shit about someone banging his gardener until I realized it was from a wife (assumed to be divorcing) to her husband
the male voice over confused me, it made me think you're michael who got the letter, read it, and somehow... followed allison, or something? as i said, confused.
I also love how they mentioned Space God and that part at 32:50 where Davis pokes the bear LOL
The funniest part of the whole video at 32:50 where Alex says they've stopped. Davis just has to get out the camera and poke the bear. So funny. You just had to agitate them, didn't you Davis?
22:40 Jirard doing the AGDQ commentary impression _"So for those of you watching at home, Davis is doing a tactic where you just kinda glitch through the wall..."_
and then 35:07 happens :D
comedy gold. :') Thanks for playing these, Spoopy Squad bois. Love ya.
Ever since he got in contact with those speedrunners, Jirard's been at least one parallel universe ahead of the curve. Still nowhere near Pannenkoek2012's QPL (Quantum Power Level), or even that of Speedrunner Mario, but he's getting there.
"Someone take a picture on their phone"
*Literally pulled a camera out 2 minutes into the game*
I love the moment in these playthroughs where Davis eventually just gets so pissed/scared that he goes into this mental state of just dominating the game. It always happens eventually and it is always so beautiful to see.
"You are Allison" he exclaimed with confidence
At 35:10 Davis got literally scared right out of the game. 😂
Not the first time Alex jumps to Aliens xD
Jesse: Do you hear that?
WELL I SURE DO NOW O GOD
At the transition from menu to title card at 4:45, this is how I imagined their conversation in my head:
*click, title card shows*
Jesse: I recognize this!
Everyone else: ???
Jesse: This is totally Ohio!
Everyone else: *groans and laughs*
this ENDING! HAHA
Alex hates the "laughing till I'm crying " emoji.
why do they not stream together this would be gold
OK that was fun. Now play it again in VR.
The squad started arguing about the plot of the game before playing it - Trouble in paradise?
Nah thats just how they are lol
I love this
It's got every thing I love about scary game squad:
Davis pissed at stuff, Davis scaring himself, internal conflict about plot points, the whole gang howling with laughter and confusion.
seeing Davis taunt the guy, then he bursts upstairs, was one of the best SGS moments in quite awhile for me. I put these collection videos off, and now I'm so glad I can watch it all at once! And Collection 3 is probably gonna be on here soon
It just occured to me 20 minutes in that the Camera is probably so you can remember the wall passwords ect. Davis literally asking someone to take a picture when he has a legitmate in-game camera for that purpose is now in hindsight funny as hell. Partly because I would have done the same thing without question.
There's 1 combination in the entire thing, and it's skyrim dungeon level easy. I think it's more as a clunky light source in case you misplace the tripod
Alex: "So where are we?"
Jesse: "On Earth!"
....
Jesse: "Why are you saying we're on Earth?"
"Every fiber of my butthole". I never thought I'd find a term to describe my feelings for this game, but that did it wonderfully.
I really wanted to love it, space archaeology, mysterious dead planets, first person puzzle solving, it should all be right up my alley. But the platforming and merciless enemy design just make it frustrating. It felt a little like someone took all my complaints about the second half of "The Story Of The Blanks" and based a game around them. Frustrating isn't scary. Familiarity, annoyance, and rage are all natural enemies of horror. Unfair deaths leading to having to constantly repeat the same sections can undo even the strongest atmosphere and tension.
It was especially bad since my controller worked for moving but not jumping, so I had to use my keyboard which seems to be sticking, should really clean it. I saved this for last in the collection, so I ended on a bit of a sour note. Though the devs also did the Scythe series which I've heard good things about. Might do one of those tonight to see if I like it better. Also the music in this game is really good, anger and disappointment aside, I did really like the music.
35:05 Davis’s fear breaks reality.
MORTIS!?
Jump scared right out of the map!
He has gone PLUS ULTRA!!!
This. 😂
ultimate defense mechanism. phase into the ether
So I guess when Allison said she needed space, she meant it.
Wow Davis really impressed me with those platforming skills
why is the letter so confusing for people? It say. FROM Allison TO Michael. And it is read by the Voiceover guy like every other "intro".
The failure to comprehend something as simple as that is rather astounding. I guess that why there's always folks that keep jumping to false conclusions both IRL/internet.
@@acedias12 There 4 are not better then most single LP'er which is at times... ASTOUNDING. Then sometimes they predict wendigos. ...
Honestly I think it’s bc the punching walls in anger, finding the spouse fuckin the gardener, and losing custody of ur kid bc of a dangerous job is usually something that a man does in fiction. That plus the voiceover makes it easier to assume the names were a mistake.
I think it was the male voice was what threw them off. It does make one assume that its a guy at first glance. This is like the fourth game they played in a row too, so who knows how late it was when they played this.
I'll be honest bois. You're all taking this way too seriously. It's a video of four dudes playing a video game
I don’t even think Davis’s own parents call him Michael. He’s Davis. Haha
Jesse is the only one of them with any reading comprehension lol
I came here to say the same thing lol
Well he was a teacher before he did UA-cam.
A really sad standard to set :(
Jesse : "We're on earth!"
Jesse 15 seconds later : "What would make you think we're on earth?! There's nothing to imply that!"
@@Triple-Four I've rewatched this more than a dozen times already and only today I noticed the comments about this. Funny people praising Jesse's comprehension if you actually listen to how the conversation went.
I still love Jesse tho.
SGS is at its best when Davis is in the driver's seat
Excalibur would have never happened if not for him. "I'm gonna come all over you," would never happen. Good times, man. lol
Davis is the chosen one!
Couldn’t agree more. We all love the Dragon Rider but Davis at the controls is where it’s at.
“I’m a fucking man!!”
@@GradnLordTad Whelp, time to rewatch RE 7 again.
I laughed so hard that I cried when Davis fell off the world.
Jirard jinxed him with the wall hack
Hell yes!!! Just what I need to chill before bed, my favorite spooky game team. thanks for all the amazing content as usual, jessup
seeing the squad play this, I wanna see what they think about the Haunted PS1 Demo Disc
Yes please!
I'd love to see them play some old school horror games.. like PS1 and old PC.. like D on PS1 and Shivers on PC.. I think with the puzzles of Shivers it'd be hilarious watching them try to get through it..
I love how aggro the skeleton guys are, they scream at you like scp-096 lmao
Lawnmower maaaaaaan!!!
He's got some really sharp haaaaands!!!!
Made up of many golden straaaaaands!!!!
He is LAWNMOWER MAN!!!!
Great video! Davis showing us why he is on the squad. His playthrough he became The One.
13:30 LOL isnt it amazing that "this" is our life now?
Like... Who would have predicted this? Are we living in a movie right now?
The old home movie VHS filter does so much for this game
when they were looking at the wall/guide thing...that jumpscare got me oww I hit my arm
24:42 David went ultrainstinct on those platforms. xD
I love how they took a pic to remember something when there's an in game camera.
While not a real scary game I would love to see you guys play "The Talos Principle". There are a few jump scares but watching you all solve the puzzles and try and figure out the plot would honestly make me watch all the videos several times.
It's difficult to express how perfect this moment is 32:51
Funniest SGS episode in recent memory. The impressions, the references, the hysterical laughter, the spoops... textbook SGS
29:54 had me scared laughing so hard omg.
13:40 one year later, and "after" still feels like a really long way off...
Spooky scary mini-games send shivers down your spine!
Low-key butthurt that Davis kept refusing to believe that Alison was the one in space and her husband was the cheater.
"The Karnak Temple Complex, commonly known as Karnak from Arabic Khurnak meaning "fortified village"), comprises a vast mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons, and other buildings near Luxor, in Egypt" from Wikipedia. There you go SGS and Co.
That was a horrendous amount of effort for such a weak ending.
How the music is sick! Love it!
Ps: Poor sweet little Davis xD
Watching Davis clip through the wall is absolutely hilarious!
Is Alex _finally_ getting his aliens?!
Gotta love the lawnmower references
32:48 peak comedic timing
I dunno why but hearing Alex's absolute disgust and hatred for wet eyes in thumbnails is hilarious.
What should we do to scare the players? Jumping puzzles! Clunky controls! Getting stuck on terrain!
One of the Starship Troopers movies thought darkness would be scary, and filmed most of the movie in real, barely penetrable darkness. It didn't work that well.
27:00 he's right, what the fuck is up with Mark and other youtubers doing the big wet eyes on every thumbnail? It turns me off from watching everything they've posted.
Equilibrium was a hidden gem! Ngl, i also didn't hate ultraviolet. Same director and writer, kurt wimmer
This game was a weird mix of things, but I enjoyed the way the enemies were like "maybe we'll leave you alo- NO WE'RE GONNA GET YOU!"
"Whats the game that teaches you that jumping puzzles in FPS's are a bad idea"
Me: Destiny
i didnt think it'd get funnier after the bear poking bit and then he fell off the fucking world.
"After seems like a long way off"
Yeah... yep.
What great timing! You uploaded this right as I finished watching your play through of Resident Evil 3!
Of course you guys upload this when im awake at 1:22 am, and of course im gonna watch it
jesse called 35:10 during the jumping puzzle
Have to admit, I've not seen the other you can I'll be watching this the moment I've seen the others. So happy you're still uploading stuffs lately Jessie. I always get worried whenever the channel goes silent for a while. Hope ya well, mate.
4:29 "I've never seen so much over so little." *Looks at 4 hour Last Jedi Podcast on SWNCBC.*
Tbf that movie was a huge deal. It almost buried modern day Star Wars.
@@WeMissDimebag It really didn't, but shout out to From A Certain Point of View for almost burying SWNCBC
Joel Cox Huh what do you mean?
@@charlesgray6385 Star Wars New Canon Book Club is Jesse's Star Wars podcast. As for my second comment, it went on hiatus for about a year because of the book called "From a Certain Point of View".
People who hate when Davis is steering are people who want the game to go well, with every secret found, and gameplay done correctly.
People who love when Davis is steering are people who love just the fun of the crew with wild antics despite less than stellar gameplay.
Life and opinions are not binary.
@@bigbrotherlop87 Deep.
Can I just say how happy I am with all the new scarygamesquad episodes they absolutely make my day when they pop up
Loving the Offspring vibe. Love you guys.
They literally just spent 5 minutes discussing if they're in space or on earth....
5 minutes out of 50 minutes.
That's literally 10% of the whole video gone already before even starting the game. LOL
29:53 my soul escaped my body
the blocks rotating at 15:30 sound kinda sound like Tim Allen
The sound from the light being put down sounds like an ftl noise
Anyone else here went looking for some old Offspring songs?
I can never take the voiceover guy seriously. Always sounds like he's got a sinus problem. XD
Perfect morning, Yasssss more SGS ~~~~
11:50
Has an in-game camera with a better picture quality than his phone and refuses to use the in-game camera
Aww yea go Davis
“Somebody take a picture!”
-has a camera in game
11:50 you do have a camera in the game for this you guys know that right?
Props to Jirard for the Mario low health sound effect 👌
I love watching Davis rage play games.
I kinda wanna listen to Offspring now
So what was that ending? Did they get trapped in there and die? Is that the only ending?
Why does Allison sound like Adam West?
Omg! Davis was super on point!
Yall have some Trump proproganda in your ads rn
“This indie game is deeper than some indie games”
This ended up being unintentionally funny, more than scary :')
THIS WAS HILLARIOUS
yknow where is the payoff
5 minutes in and we’ve confirmed that none of you has written or read a formal letter before. A letter to Michael (Michael, at the top there) from Allison (-Allison at the signature) she’s got a job in space and will be back for custody.
Oh wow, that's a bad timing situation. "I don't have that many fibers on my butthole" - pause - Jesse: "Oh my god, there are two!"
So much deciphering and having theories about the story and its characters...and the game hadn't even started yet! xD
That was way more frustrating than it needed to be.
Waaaait a minute... the green symbols over the altar, wasn't the first one the logo of Black and White?
I both thought the message was TO Allison, and that the sender was an alien. XD
Cartagena, Columbia? Its pronounced with an h.
The chasing music reminds me of Serious Sam
Yaaas!
good bro
