    I am a Chinese and do not understand English. I use AI to translate messages, hoping that it can accurately express what I mean. I like your videos very much. I follow many anchors who make hiking videos. You are a very special one. I don’t know how to describe it. I just feel comfortable and happy watching your videos. Smooth screen switching, appropriate soundtrack, and the position of the characters in the face-changing, everything is just right. I don’t like most anchors to show their faces frequently in the video, often occupying 2/3 of the screen, which makes me feel uncomfortable. Looking forward to appreciating more of your works.

    I absolutely love your videos and artistry! Your photography, sound, and music, and the ways you capture light and shadows and all the smaller parts that make up the larger whole of the lands you travel through make for a very peaceful and reverent experience. I know there is a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make these videos available. Thank you for sharing them!

      @@basinandrange 👍🙏 You're welcome! And I agree, the little things are ironically a big part of the experience. For me, connecting to smaller things when hiking, especially in this timeless and beautiful mountain range, always leads me to a profound recognition that I, too, am just a very small part of it all.

    Thank you for this -- splendid smart cinematography and editing, a beautiful smart route through great terrain -- I'm sold on Cloud Canyon and Deadman Canyon -- like nothing I've seen in the northern Sierra -- thanks for that too. Gotta wonder who named Moose Lake -- no self-respecting moose ever got within a thousand miles of the place. Why, though, when you plainly worship them, too, insult the High Sierra Water Nymphs by filtering their delicious virginal vintages? That quibble aside, though, thanks again. This is truly a delight.

    How is it going off trail? I assume it is allowed. Did you have any difficulty navigating the terrain or finding your way? I have never done any serious backpacking trips, only a few days, so I am not very experienced with this type of stuff. Would you recommend sticking to the trail? following an off trail route that I found ahead of time (like yours) or is it easy enough to navigate the terrain, that with some planning I would be fine to go off trail through the wilderness and not get lost?

    • @basinandrange
      @basinandrange  18 днів тому

      @@crispyraids1531 I think if you’re new to backpacking, there’s not much reason to go off trail, since there’s so many amazing trails to hike.
      Getting lost isn’t always your main concern, it’s the micro route finding. Following a gpx track isn’t enough, you need to find the safest way through the terrain. Going down upper cloud canyon for example, there are right and wrong ways to go down… you have to avoid hidden cliffs and the slot canyon carved by the river. But that’s not obvious if you don’t know how to read the terrain.

  • @TrilogyHiking
    @TrilogyHiking 18 днів тому

    Hello! What an awesome video, thanks for sharing! The trout catching/cooking was my favorite part!! Did you use GAIA gps or anything for this & would you mind sharing your track with me if so? I've only been using GAIA for a couple years now so definitely still figuring out all the features. The Sierra range is my most favorite & I would love to give this a go someday here soon!
    Also, is there anything you would have changed about this loop? Or were you overall happy with the route?

    • @basinandrange
      @basinandrange  18 днів тому +1

      @@TrilogyHiking thank you! Yes I use Gaia, are you able to DM me on instagram? I could send you the gpx track that way. I think the route is perfect, I love how it goes down one canyon and up the other.
      I’ve done the 50 mile deadman loop, and another 75 mile loop starting at kearsarge pass that goes through cloud canyon and up Colby pass. Both of those routes are on trail only, they are great but I wasn’t totally satisfied with them because they both only visit one of the canyons without doing detours.
      The cross country is pretty tame on this one, but the exposure on copper mine pass might be intense for some people. It’s best done in the fall, it could be tricky to get through the tablelands in monsoon season and bugs are really bad in the meadows.
