Exploring wilderness solo in the western US 🌄
I make hiking films with an ethereal ambiance and no talking, similar to the silent hiking genre.
I often design my own routes with off trail sections, visiting remote locations where I can find real solitude.

Hiking Alone in Sequoia-Kings Backcountry, California: Tablelands Loop | No Talking
I backpacked alone in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (part of the Sierras) September 24-30 2024 starting at Lodgepole.
Check out my other video about Kings Canyon:

About the route:
I created this 42 mile loop that provides access to both Deadman Canyon and Cloud Canyon, one of California’s most remote trail-accessible locations. Navigation can be challenging in upper Cloud, so this route is recommended for experienced hikers. The Tablelands and canyons are best visited in the fall to avoid thunderstorms and bugs.

Special
Filming all of these camera angles must be quite a chore to do alone. You are really a hard worker.
The back ground music reminds me an old fantasy game that I loved. And it makes me feel I'm watching fantasy world. I love it!
@@EMPHoon do you remember what the game is called?
I have never seeing something like this. I love it. Glad to find your channel. Just pure beauty…

Great video and fantastic landscapes!
This is an absolutely breathtaking video! I look forward to seeing more of your adventures!! I also really appreciate that you put captions on important features! That's a really nice touch.
Beautiful video! I also create silent hiking content and love how this style lets the viewer feel immersed in nature. It’s inspiring to see how others capture these moments-thanks for sharing!
Nearly brought me to tears. Just got back from 5 days in Yosemite and just want to go straight back out. Thanks for this.

ta liste de matériel n'est plus valide !! 😤

How is it going off trail? I assume it is allowed. Did you have any difficulty navigating the terrain or finding your way? I have never done any serious backpacking trips, only a few days, so I am not very experienced with this type of stuff. Would you recommend sticking to the trail? following an off trail route that I found ahead of time (like yours) or is it easy enough to navigate the terrain, that with some planning I would be fine to go off trail through the wilderness and not get lost?
@@crispyraids1531 I think if you’re new to backpacking, there’s not much reason to go off trail, since there’s so many amazing trails to hike. Getting lost isn’t always your main concern, it’s the micro route finding. Following a gpx track isn’t enough, you need to find the safest way through the terrain. Going down upper cloud canyon for example, there are right and wrong ways to go down… you have to avoid hidden cliffs and the slot canyon carved by the river. But that’s not obvious if you don’t know how to read the terrain.
This was an incredible video B&R! I like the Skyrim map finding sound at each location!
Hello! What an awesome video, thanks for sharing! The trout catching/cooking was my favorite part!! Did you use GAIA gps or anything for this & would you mind sharing your track with me if so? I've only been using GAIA for a couple years now so definitely still figuring out all the features. The Sierra range is my most favorite & I would love to give this a go someday here soon! Also, is there anything you would have changed about this loop? Or were you overall happy with the route?
@@TrilogyHiking thank you! Yes I use Gaia, are you able to DM me on instagram? I could send you the gpx track that way. I think the route is perfect, I love how it goes down one canyon and up the other. I’ve done the 50 mile deadman loop, and another 75 mile loop starting at kearsarge pass that goes through cloud canyon and up Colby pass. Both of those routes are on trail only, they are great but I wasn’t totally satisfied with them because they both only visit one of the canyons without doing detours. The cross country is pretty tame on this one, but the exposure on copper mine pass might be intense for some people. It’s best done in the fall, it could be tricky to get through the tablelands in monsoon season and bugs are really bad in the meadows.
This is almost Harmen Hoek. Like the Wish version. Pretty good!
Great trip and experience.!!Such a wonderful place to visit stunning visuals gorgeous shots and enjoyed watching.Thank you for sharing😉🤙💗🐶💗
Very well done! I am an old guy at 66 and have done the JMT, but I'm always looking for other sierra hikes to do and the loops you are making video's of look like great future trips options for me. With some of the less traveled passes you cross in your videos it would be great if you could share a sketchiness factor like 1 for "easy peasy" and 5 for "you'll probably won't do that one again" so we can get a better idea of what we might get into if we were to attempt the same trip. Keep up the great work and I hope to see a video on Mitre Basin and Crabtree Pass in the future.
@@michaelmineart1889 High sierra topix is a good resource for learning about the passes, I like to bring screenshots on my phone. RJ Secor guidebooks are good as well, although he wrote his books when the passes were more consistently snow covered.
@@basinandrange Thanks for the resource recommendations! I have an account now on High Sierra Topix which looks like an excellent resource as it has a thread on back county fishing (I always bring a fly rod on my Sierra trips) and I found RJ's book High Sierra: peaks, passes and trails that I'll probably pick up. Thanks again, Mike
Such a beautiful trip and video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing this and for expending the effort to produce it! You capture in video the feeling of the place better than other videos I’ve seen. I visited the Bear Lakes Basin via the East side (Pine Creek Pass trailhead, Italy Pass, Dancing Bear Pass) this past September. Those views of Seven Gables brought me right back! I found Feather Pass a bit of a challenge but went right instead of left at the top 😅. Best wishes for your future adventures, I will be thrilled to see what you post. Cheers!
Beautiful video. I’ve been atop the Glacier Divide twice, last time 2 yrs ago checked out the Keyhole. Most of my BP trips have been on trail, but u inspire me to go off trail. I backpack every year for the most part, I may just do this hike summer 2025. Ur videos are awesome and I look forward to the next.
Thanksfor sharing. I hiked the Deadman Canyon loop about 10 years ago and ill never forget it.
Spectacular. Nice job. Cheers.
Just WOW! The music and shots are just fantastic! Love the scene where you set up your tent with Darwin Bench looming in the distance. Excellent film!
Muchas gracias, a perfect film.
Amazing journey❤ congratulations ❤
This is one of my bucketlist here. Exploring the JMW and climb mountains there. I also like the Skyrim sound effect you put when you pass and/or explore new locations. Keep up the great work!
Beautiful. Would love it tenfold if it were 100% silent though, but for the crunch of earth under boot, the clack of poles on granite, wind and water. The reason I, personally, love to play outside - to escape the hand of man and feel like the miniscule part I am.
What do you think about when you hike in places like that all by yourself?
@@smellybearc7411 Hmm, a little bit of everything, things I didn’t have time to unpack at home with all the distractions of life.
Totally amazing video. Very beautiful, enjoying and soothing. Well done on the production. In an amazingly beautiful, wonderful place.. Thank you.
So serene and peaceful. Thanks for taking us with you. I'm so glad YT algorithm found you. I'm planning to start hiking for the first time for my physical and mental health. I can't wait to start. Maybe I will hike the same path one day.
