Impressive day! You really did a lot. Better exposition on this day. I liked it. Footage was amazing. When we went up & over the Divide from Twin Lakes to Rock Lake, the willows were very wet & very dense. It was like taking a shower. But the views were epic. Keep up the good work!!
Ha! The willows are my nemesis. They “stole” my favorite pair of sunglasses that day. I’m glad they were dry rather than having a car wash experience like you experienced! I still loved it though…all part of the adventure!
Just fantastic 👏 The most exciting day I've seen filmed in the Wem since Cocanato did it. Very courageous off trail navigation. The moose! The views from the passes! You've inspired me. New sub here.
Thank you SO much for making this video Michelle, I'm hopefully going to be following this route this July. I want to ask how safe you felt going up and particularly down the ridge after half moon lake. I'm a beginner backpacking and have never done terrain that rocky and steep before so just trying to see if this is something that should be left to advanced backpackers only.
I think you could do it. The route finding is a little tricky on the Moon Lake side due to all the willow trees, but just take your time. The terrain is steep and rocky on the Rock Lake side, but there is a fairly defined trail to follow. Just plan your hike to give yourself plenty of time to not feel rushed. You don’t want to get caught up on that pass in the typical afternoon thunderstorm. That was my first time backpacking alone or on that type of cross country terrain. It was challenging, but I never felt unsafe. It is definitely worth the effort!

Also, if you find a pair of Tifosi sunglasses, let me know😜. I lost them somewhere on the way up from Moon Lake!
