Just posted a “long” comment on a video of yours from 4 years ago about saki. Can’t wait to enjoy the goodness here (in Japan and this channel) for the next few years. This channel will be my unofficial guide to curing my American “dumbfoundedness.” Looking forward to all the insight!!
Hey Justin, Martina here, just read your sake comment! And no judgment to be sipping' on boxed sake, although make sure you get some savoury snacks to go with it 😜 I'd also say, check out my King Kogi channel because I will be updating more frequently over there about Japan.
In Panamá they serve like this but all in one plate except for the dessert, that comes separate. But the salad, beans and rice all together with a protein of choice.
"Teishoku" as a term does exist in other countries! It just means "set meal", where you get a small salad/app, main, carb, side, etc. It's just what you get that's more unique to Japan.
Another great video Martina! I will say I have not had a problem with airline food myself, however, it's probably because I have not traveled very much so I've only gotten a few airplane meals. One memory I always go back to is my first time travelling to Newfoundland alone to visit my grandparents for the summer. The sandwich I had that day was so good!
Hi Martina! I really like this kind of video to be honest. I did plan to go to Japan before the pandemic, haven't plan again since I'm not sure when I can go, or whether Japan has opened its borders or not. But anyway, I really appreciate content like this, with chain or easy to find restaurants. I mean using Tableu or going to mom pop shop is great and all, but as a tourist I won't actually have time to find and search those mom pop shop, and maybe they're not that great, or they are great but not to my taste. So this one in dept store, or the previous video about Royal Host is great. I especially appreciate it since the places are easy to find, and they have lots of food options, and picture or food display, which makes it easier to choose. I hope you do something similar in the future. Thank you! Also, just another idea, I know usually you focus a lot of places (food or travel) that is not as crowded, or not well known, but would it be possible for you to review touristy places and give your take on it? like whether the touristy spots are actually worth it, or just overpriced, or whether there are other alternatives that are not known by many?
That sounds cool, especially if she also talks about how accessible friendly they can be. Japan is a high tech retrofit of alot of stuff and not everywhere is available to everyone. I know that was a key deciding feature for her leaving korea.
@@colleenshaw1607 My family has disabilities issues as well and we keep worrying about Martina in that regard (although she hasn't needed to wear a brace lately it seems). But a disability focus -- at least footnotes -- would be welcome and would help make the channel more unique.
Don't mind me asking these questions. 1) Do you consider Japan as a highly developed and advanced country ? 2) How would you personally rate Japan (from culture to technology, architecture, food, local products, scenery/landscape, standard of living/quality of life, etc.) on a scale level of 1 to 10 ? 3) How would you overall describe the characteristics of Japanese people ? 4) If you have 3 words or more to describe Japan, what would it be ?
In Ottawa we're more of less done with masks. I still wear mine. I was at an event, the only person wearing a mask. Maybe felt a little goofy. Found out that one of the attendees tested positive for Covid. Felt much less goofy.
agree, i am still masking up most of the time too, also in canada (i finally got covid in may this year, so now that ive been sick i feel a little more relaxed to go maskless for quick errands and such). its so rare to see one now that i feel silly wearing one too, like, did i imagine this whole covid thing? so bizarre, i wish that we in the west would be more open to wearing masks in relevant situations (allergy season, when we are feeling unwell, etc), but it seems that the covid response and mandates have likely soured most people’s opinion of masks
I still wear a mask every time I am in public. I have an autoimmune disease that really wrecks my respiratory system. I’m in the southern part of the US, so unfortunately it usually means I’m the only one (or one of very few), so a lot of looks and comments I get from strangers are so unnecessary. It makes me feel like an idiot, but I would really like to avoid something that could kill me. Especially with cases being on the rise. I don’t have any plan of losing the mask for a while, especially since we always have waves coming and going.
@@RedPandaNinja6886 it’s unbelievable to me that something that is proven to help reduce transmission of so many things is being so demonized in the west. Makes no sense at all.
