I don't believe that Chinese companies need U.S. AI models. Instead I suspect the opposite situation where the Chinese tech industry is already ahead of the U.S. even in AI research and development. And also, it seems that Chinese companies compete fiercely among themselves but also cooperate! So that Huawei, Xiaomi, ByteDance, Tencent, Alibaba, BYD, DJI and Baidu etc form an integrated tech behemoth.
