That thing is looking awesome!
@@Rob-p2j thanks Rob! Always appreciate you as usual!
Can't wait to see it done!! Looking great!
@@hotlapgarage thank you! Should be a little ripper
Súper Clean as always ! Love it
@@creepycrawler43 much appreciated! Thank you
Nice that the lower control arm frame connections were straight front to back. I have seen many where the frame tapers front to back. You are definitely taking that custom to a whole new level! Lovin the stance!
@@MightyRaze yessir! The control arms being straight was one thing I made sure of before I chose those parts. I’ve never built anything like this before, definitely learning as I go.
But by the time it’s over, the words “custom” across the grill will have a whole new meaning 😄
@@Tennesseemountainhomestead - "But by the time it’s over, the words “custom” across the grill will have a whole new meaning" I love that.
Beautiful work! Super videos too!!
@@captain_315 Heck yeah! We got Captain_315 in the comment section!!
Thanks Cap, you know what it’s like fabricating stuff up with basic hand and power tools in the garage! I still have a ways to go and hopefully it turns out as something formidable!
That thing is sweet! Gonna be a strong contender in the 2025 Build-Off!
@@SlipperzYT 😅 thank you! I’m super excited about that but even more worried I can get it to perform and function right!
This thing is going to be badass man! Each video you make on it the more im loving it! The suspension will help a lot with big rocks! Really looking forward to seeing how she preforms!
@@craftsmancrusher207 haha me too! Hopefully the arms are strong enough to handle some abuse! I think it’ll be fiiinnnneee😄….maybe! For real though there’s a lot going on here and some things to work out. Steering and shocks are next!
@Tennesseemountainhomestead i recently built a sears suburban with a 3 arm suspension if yoy run into any issues let me know and ill help you the best i can!
@ that’s ironic you mentioned that, I was going to do a triangulated four link before this. But once I got measuring and thinking about it, realized it was going to be way too heavy with the parts I would have used. I will have to go check out your build setup
@@Tennesseemountainhomestead I'll send you some pictures tomorrow!
@ yes please! I went back over your videos to see if there was one and didn’t see it. Is it the Midnight build?
That’s awesome that’s going to be a smooth ride when that time comes haha
@ConnorHellmuth I sure hope so but I have a feeling it will!
Looking fantastic! Update on the powder coating I think it’s worth it. All the small pieces I’ve done on the wheel horse has me looking at much bigger ovens. I’m experimenting with cast iron now. Seems to be working just needs double the cook time.
@@TractorDad sweet, I will have to check that out, been so busy with all these projects and Christmas lately. Only time I get to kind of try and watch everyone else’s videos is to and from work with my phone holder on the dashboard 😄
This thing is so cool, here in Finland these horizontal engine lawn tractors are so rare. I hope I can find one for cheap somewhere
@Jonssi069 Finland ! That’s cool ! One of my favorite UA-camrs is over there Hydraulic Press Channel!
I didn’t realize horizontal drive machines were a mostly American thing. They are everywhere around my area it’s like take your pick. But you might consider simply converting a standard vertical tractor into a horizontal. Idk but I guess it’d be just as hard to get the transmissions and stuff. I was thinking just offset the motor and build your belt system down the inside if the frame like it would be. It’d be a lot of work but could be worth it 🤷🏼♂️ anyway bud I appreciate you! Thanks again!
The Big Un is 48 or so inches wide in the front, it can still fit on some decent trails, and i can take near 90 degree corners at ~28 mph without issues on pavement. It may be a bit too wide, but in a way its also a show tractor. Im also loving that suspension setup, really simple and will make a nice soft ride. Im excided to see it done!
@@Mo_2118 thank you! The main reason I was going around about width is because TTC rules. If I’m not mistaken 43” is max width. If not for that, I could’ve put the arms right near the edge of the frame and not had to relieve the frame so much or at all. But it’s cool how it is and I’m glad it’s wide(er)
@Tennesseemountainhomestead wider will be much better
That’s going to be really nice to ride! I think you got a chance for top tractor!
@@AbbyNormalGarage maybe, lol. A good machine is only part of it. There are some really fantastic guys who can ride a tractor like nobody’s business!
Once I get it done, I gotta start getting some serious seat time to practice, and test it out! Find the weak spots…
@@Tennesseemountainhomestead is there a possibility of it being to small? It’s really cute!
@@AbbyNormalGarage not too small, it’s basically going to be the same dimensions as the John Deere as far as it has an identical wheelbase and even wider track width. At least in the front the back of the deer is pretty dang wide like 44 inches. It has the same transmission the same engine. It will have a very similar clutch system, but it should be about half the weight. So it’s everything I love about the deer With half the steel.
I think it’ll run pretty good, it will be a lot zippier, less tippy because I’m gonna be sitting down a lot lower and now that it has for suspension and brakes it’s just gonna be a wicked little tractor
@ no, it is going to have the same wheelbase as the John Deere, it will have a wider front track width. It has the same transmission, engine, it will have a similar clutch system, better steering, front suspension, and front brakes at half the weight. It should be a nasty little tractor.
I gotta say you are building a beast !!!!!!!! Can't wait to see it done.
@@cloes_Grandpa thank you! I just checked out your Wheel Horse video and tried to help you out over there in the comments.
How's the steering gonna mount? Is there anything in the way of it or are you gonna have to make custom steering rods?
@@M_Track I’m going with a “latest rage” or similar dune buggy rack & pinion. They are pretty compact. It will mount on the backside of the original axle pivot plate that used to be the front of the tractor. I’ll probably make my own tie rods out of 3/8” heim joints. 1/2” ones if I can. I’ll use a combination of steering DD shaft and splined UV joints to get the steering wheel input down to it- I hope 😅
