I'm sure it was a very difficult time for Melinda to accept that her long term marriage was over but it gives me joy and happiness that she's moving on by finding purpose to help other women and girls. As a woman who chose to never marry or have kids, this gives me hope that I and other women can find purpose and not just resort to a life as a wife and mother. Does it really matter? Is it so important why others outside the immediate family need to know? Okay, most women at least in western culture may keep the married last name. For such reasons as it’s a hassle to change, if there is kids from the marriage it’s easier to have the same last name as them, if a woman has been married for many decades and feels like they earned the name and is still close with her exes family she may keep it etc. those are some big reasons why a woman way keep her married name if she chooses to…but again, does it really matter to know why?
