When we fall deeply in love 😍 with someone special, it always feels magical 💖 so magical that you don't wanna think or believe that magical love will ever end and when it does, it feels catastrophic, a train wreck. People especially women need to think in terms of independence, of just being satisfied with being on your own. I'm sure it was a very difficult time for Melinda to accept that her long term marriage was over but it gives me joy and happiness that she's moving on by finding purpose to help other women and girls. As a woman who chose to never marry or have kids, this gives me hope that I and other women can find purpose and not just resort to a life as a wife and mother. Good luck Melinda you're doing GREAT! 😇

As a woman in my forties, I find immense inspiration in figures like Melinda Gates. It's heartening to see more and more representation in the media of women thriving beyond their 50s or after significant life changes like divorce. These women-Melinda French Gates, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey-are paving the way and setting an example for what life can look like at 50, 60, 70, and beyond. Their journeys give me a roadmap for my own future, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.❤

Being a little bit older then French-Gates, I am pleased she is finding herself again. I cannot imagine how exciting it is to be so smart, worldly, and find yourself in such a position. She is so well educated, proved brilliant in her career, and motherhood and now she is flying in her Philanthropy work. You go girl. Just disappointed she is married to a political party.

Melinda is strong, smart and a change agent in society. She challenges all of us to step up and do something for another human every day. She is a role model for ALL people.
If Bill Gates was in the hot seat, I guarantee that Gayle would not have commented so often “and You look good.” “And You feel good?”
Isn’t it time this changed? Exhausting.

what irks me is how a billionaire, many times over, when talking to these women in dire situations and the poorest of the poor, with the utmost awful future ahead, how on earth doesn't she have the urge to give them directly some money; 3-10 thousand dollars -which would be a handbag for her, could change a family's future forever! And I know you can't help the whole world, but she could directly help hundreds and hundreds and it would only be a teeny tiny dent in her finances. Like how can you look theae women in the eyes, sitting on dirt, pretending you can empathize with all that head nodding, and then go back to thousand dollar sheeted bed, luxurious jet, mega mansion, and so forth.

Some food for thought as a gay male.. take 30 seconds to imagine this for a minute.
I am a 30 year old and I marry the founder and CEO of the most successful company in the history of the world. I go into a meeting with a world leader and my husband. Who do you think people are going to focus on? I'd be willing to bet every dollar that I've ever made on them focusing on my hypothetical husband, the founder of the most successful company in the history of the world.
Melinda, do you think when Kamala Harris goes into a room with her husband Doug that anyone even acknowledges him? Is he going to get any sympathy from a news anchor as a man? No...

Did you miss the part about "philanthropy without strings attached"? She is giving to orgs that are lifting up women, girls, and men and boys. She has no influence on how that's done. If you had an charity organization (though I'm not sure you're the person for the job) wouldn't you be glad to have the money to accomplish your goals? What do you mean by "do good for yourself," anyway? Be selfish?

I too, think that a woman in the White House could be a very good thing for America. But someone smart. A woman that commands respect - here & around the world. Someone like Tulsi Gabbard - who is not only brilliant, but politically astute. Harris is none of these. She's not a strong leader. Her word salad answers & the talking down speeches are embarassing & annoying. And she was the biggest liar (besides Karine Jean-Pierre, Jill, Chuck S, & perhaps Nancy P) for telling the American people how strong & healthy Biden was UNTIL the debate. I personally think her "policies" are dangerous: opening our borders (ever wonder why she & the Dems are more interested in Ukraine's border than in our own?), against resource development in the US, but would rather spend even MORE money in the middle east for products WE could be developing, believing that it's a good thing for men dressed as women to compete against women in sports (dismantling Title IX), defunding police, forgiving student loans when they should be paid back (holding citizens responsible for their choices), more government, prioritizing DEI over qualified persons, no plan to curb our inflation-other than printing more money & continuing BIG giveaways, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Trumpeter either. But between these 2, he's the better choice for America. Just my opinion.

Does it really matter? Is it so important why others outside the immediate family need to know? Okay, most women at least in western culture may keep the married last name. For such reasons as it’s a hassle to change, if there is kids from the marriage it’s easier to have the same last name as them, if a woman has been married for many decades and feels like they earned the name and is still close with her exes family she may keep it etc. those are some big reasons why a woman way keep her married name if she chooses to…but again, does it really matter to know why?
