On the other end of the spectrum you have regiments equipped no better than a renaissance period peasant. All dependent on their world’s history, wealth and culture. Most mid to well off worlds tend to equip their regiments in the same fashion as those from cadia because it is seen as the standard. But those that can afford to show off and have long standing military traditions May lavish their troops with the finest wargear.

As someone who played IG in 4th but now plays Orks in 10th I enjoyed this. Both sides were respected as well, compared to the norm of the IG getting mulched so that another imperial faction can seem stronger by comparison this was refreshing.

@@cleeiii357You could play a grenadier regiment. You do not have the full commando training of stormtroopers, I think they got infiltrate/deep strike to represent being air inserted or going on long range patrol. But you were elite infantry at least.

Not to mention GW basing them off of the British Long Range Desert Group from WW2 as an inspiration when they were introduced back in the 3rd edition. Lore-wise, they can do the same thing Tempestus Scions do, even being classified the same thing by the Departmento Munitorum as "stormtroopers". But less reviled and more admired by their comrades since they are also Imperial Guard who knows of their struggles unlike those from the Militarum Tempestus who grew up secluded in the Schola Progenium.
Its a mess to balance the atmosphere of warhammer 40k. On one side its violent and horrors abound (demonculaba) but on the other hand theres a certain "mystique" in not having characters swearing and being vulgar. But then again those made up swearing words for the setting are star wars level of cringe, worthy of little kids. Unironically HELLSREACH managed to capture the setting perfectly.

Personally, when i see space goblins fighting soldiers with laser guns, i tend to lean toward goofy with a side of misery, paired with a deep glass of grimdark. Just like Judge Dredd and Red Dwarf, it pokes fun at sci-fi tropes and creates a universe so deep in schadenfreude it can't help but be funny. So yeah, i like my 40K to not take itself so seriously, and conventional swearing just feels out of place for me, idk.

Plasma only blows up if you overheat it. If they blew up after a single shot no one would use them. Even in the tabletop plasma only has a chance to blow up if you intentionally overcharge it.
@@clan741 That's true from... What, 8th edition? In 2nd plasma weapons just needed a turn to recharge, except Chaos plasma weapons which occasionally leaked a bit. 3-7th edition had a 1 in 6 chance of hitting the model using them, though they didn't actually explode.
Glad to know they don't do that anymore. I had that same thought in watching Astartes as the Sergeant miraculously fires one many times without it blowing up in his face. Back in the 3rd Edition day, I was burned way too many times by terrible rolls with plasma. "Gets Hot" all the time for me.

yeah, I hate the charging into combat for ranged troops, it makes the tactical / smart soldiers look dumb. Good thing this one is an exception cuz no ammo no mo. astartes did it really well, the space marines only rushed the psykers, but the rest, they mostly just shot at range.
The animation is sooo good!! The plot is dumb AF (if they ask for a munitions tithe then it means that it is a munitions factory planet or industrial world at least, so how did it's defenders run out of ammo?? And the tithing planet being overloaded... Even if w40k is sometimes grimdarkly dumb, that seems too much)

@@cleeiii357I liked to differentiate between grenadier units like kasrkin and stormtroopers. Grenadiers are elite infantry. Stormtroopers to me have infiltrate and deep strike, inspired by the SAS.

The "Elite Infantry" you're talking about are what's called as Veteran Guardsmen and they're not the ones depicted here. And as for the general definition of "Grenadiers", Regular guarsdmen from Cadia can be considered as such since that is their preferred doctrine of being "shock troops". After all, they are called "Cadian Shock Troopers". To make it even more confusing, the Death Korps of Krieg has their own stormtrooper units equivalent to Kasrkins and Tempestus Scions that does your definition of "stormtroopers" being insertion deep in the enemy territory and infiltration called "Death Korps Grenadiers". Except they use Hades Breaching Drills to burrow under the surface and below the enemy's feet for insertion.
Hate it. It's hard to explain why but essentially the characters look like toys and there is a complete lack of testosterone. It's like a Pegi 7 version of 40k.

The first episode of the Tithes had two Space Marines doing all of the badassery, save for the Sister of Battle who is largely portrayed as erratic, irrational, and needing to be guided by the example of the male SM's who ultimately perform all of the heroics. This episode had male pilots heroically kamikaze bombing other Ork pilots to further the mission, the Comissar who is the main focus and the leader / mentor to the female Guardsman who needs to be educated on the finer points of wartime action and how Comissars actually operate. He duels an Ork mekboy, twice his size and strength, with nothing but a chainsword and entirely alone until *gasp* a woman soldier shoots an enemy attacking her superior! 40k is a universe with trillions of human souls fighting everyday for survival. Some of those are inevtiably going to be women, and some of those women will do remarkable and heroic things, just like real life. If it's going to upset you to the point of commenting, go ahead and headcanon your own boys-only-club of Guardsmen and leave the normal people the fuck out of your whining. So sorry you had to learn about the existence of women this way

We understand that you really like seeing male humiliation, females stronger and braver than any man, and of course instances where a man could not succeed without the assistant of a superior female. I want to know how that Plasma bolt even hit his head. Like, his neck faces out of his torso, he was hunched over about to squish the commissar, there is no feasible way that Kasrkin could have shot him in the head from that angle.

I would always charge my guardsmen, cadian or catachan. you got to get to those objective markers and get VPs.

@orochinagis The guard girl in pariah nexus was a regular guardsman, this episode of Tithes uses Kasrkin for the main girl.
@orochinagis Voice actors might be the same though, GW loves reusing their voice actors for very similar roles.

They're Kasrkin stormtroopers, of course they're not issues standard las weaponry, they're issued with Hellguns/Hotshot Lasguns instead.
@@cleeiii357I liked to differentiate between grenadier units like kasrkin and stormtroopers. Grenadiers are elite infantry. Stormtroopers to me have infiltrate and deep strike, inspired by the SAS.
@@SusCalvin Kasrkins and Tempestus Scions the same in terms of their role of being "Stormtroopers" that infiltrate and gets inserted deep behind the lines. The "Elite Infantry" you're talking about are what's called as Veteran Guardsmen and they're not the ones depicted here. And as for the general definition of "Grenadiers", Regular guarsdmen from Cadia can be considered as such since that is their preferred doctrine of being "shock troops". After all, they are called "Cadian Shock Troopers".
To make it even more confusing, the Death Korps of Krieg has their own stormtrooper units equivalent to Kasrkins and Tempestus Scions that does your definition of "stormtroopers" being insertion deep in the enemy territory and infiltration called "Death Korps Grenadiers". Except they use Hades Breaching Drills to burrow under the surface and below the enemy's feet for insertion.
Hate it. It's hard to explain why but essentially the characters look like toys and there is a complete lack of testosterone. It's like a Pegi 7 version of 40k.

Women have been practically everywhere in the setting, including other decades old 40k novels. A commissar isn’t just, “disagree? You’re dead” if they were just that, they would have no troops to lead. they’re a commander, good commanders hear their troops out, and use their discernment in how they would react to the situation. Obviously as frustrated as this guardsman was, the commissar didn’t warrant her response as one needing discipline. It’s a shit situation, but they have their orders.

The first episode of the Tithes had two Space Marines doing all of the badassery, save for the Sister of Battle who is largely portrayed as erratic, irrational, and needing to be guided by the example of the male SM's who ultimately perform all of the heroics.
This episode had male pilots heroically kamikaze bombing other Ork pilots to further the mission, the Comissar who is the main focus and the leader / mentor to the female Guardsman who needs to be educated on the finer points of wartime action and how Comissars actually operate.
He duels an Ork mekboy, twice his size and strength, with nothing but a chainsword and entirely alone until *gasp* a woman soldier shoots an enemy attacking her superior!
40k is a universe with trillions of human souls fighting everyday for survival. Some of those are inevtiably going to be women, and some of those women will do remarkable and heroic things, just like real life.
If it's going to upset you to the point of commenting, go ahead and headcanon your own boys-only-club of Guardsmen and leave the normal people the fuck out of your whining.
