    Dear Dr. Tasha,
On 11-25-2024 I had a right breast lumpectomy + sentinel node biopsy. My tumor was low grade (9mm) invasive ductal carcinoma. The lab results determined that the margins were clear and the 2 lymph nodes that were removed were benign. The biology of the tumor was 90% estrogen receptor, Her2 negative. I'm a 62-year-old and I'm considering omitting radiation. Part of the reason is: I'm now entering the sixth week post surgery, I have developed seromas, calcifications, and the bruises won't go away. My surgery site and pretty much the entire breast is taking way too long to heal. It hurts even when I walk. My breast surgeon has attempted needle drainings with painful squeezings on my breast without success. The radiation oncologist won't do anything unless I heal completely which is taking forever. 😢 He told me to go back by end of January only if I'm fully healed to submit myself to mapping.
And I can only start Anastrozole 2 weeks after the end of radiation which I don't even know when I'll be able to have. 😕
My Oncotype result number was 12.
All my genetic testing came back negative for mutations and I don't carry the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
The only thing that really worries me is that the pathologist found atypical lobular hyperplasia in the tissue that was excised.
    Nevertheless,
I want to just skip radiation and start aromatase inhibitor ASAP. What are your thoughts?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
