Thankyou again for another informative video. I’m a midwife and breast cancer survivor. My patients are always asking me about lumps that come up in their arm pits as their milk comes in. I give them general reassurance that this is usually breast tissue, and will resolve by itself. Let your O&G know about it and follow up if it doesn’t resolve in a couple of weeks. I’m going to suggest my patients watch this video as it explains normal lumps so well.
Love, Dr Griggs may be an Oncologist by profession. But she's also a great & talented public speaker. Does an excellent job breaking down medical terms were anyone can easily understand her. Have watched quite a few of her video's & highly recommend her. Kudo's to you Love for finding educational material for your patients. I breast fed 4 babies and had it commented that I had very Fibro cystic breasts. That was just the way I was made. Had no issues till I turned 60. So I can appreciate why breast education is so very important. Good luck in your profession @LoveLiveCruise 😊
Thanks for taking the time to write. It is important to be mindful of any changes around pregnancy because they are often dismissed inadvertently by medical providers.
Many thanks, Dr. Griggs, for this useful video! I had left mastectomy with reconstruction and lymph nodes removed in November 2022, followed by radiation and now on medication treatment (verzenio, estrogen suppressant). There was a 3mm growth in the right breast at the time of diagnosis (MRI in August 2022), some 1 week before surgery the doctors recommended to biopsy this growth, which I refused because at that point it was too much for me. In March this year the MRI indicated that growth wasn't detectable anymore. In June the MRI indicated an enlarged 1,3mm lymph node in the right breast, that 3mm growth and additional tiny growths next to it. A control MRI is recommended in January. I am Check-2 positive. Also in January we will need to decide about possible corrections of the left breast (I have slight capsule fibrosis which might need surgical removal) and what to do with the right breast. Considering the Check-2 mutation and increased risk of breast cancer, left mastectomy and the constantly changing situation in the right breast, at this time I lean towards right mastectomy to eliminate the risk of cancer in the right breast and save my life in the long run. I do understand that you don't give medical advice, but what else do I need to consider to help me make my decision on the right breast? Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to write. Questions to consider asking your medical team include: What are my chances of getting cancer in the unaffected breast based on the treatment I've received and am currently on? Are there other measures I can take other than surgery to reduce that risk? Is reconstruction an option for me? Will I need to have lymph nodes assessed/removed? What is the recovery time after a preventive mastectomy? Wishing you all the best. Keep coming back.
@@yerbba Many thanks for getting back to me, this is very helpful! I will also have an examination at a gynecologist and will ask him as well. Yours is my favourite information channel on breast cancer, many thanks for your important work!
A timely video as I am going for an ultrasound this week for a lump. i am wondering if there are still changes in the breast tissues in someone who has already been through menopause. Say for example, monthly as one would have changes before menopause. Thank you
I just found your site. I am 61 and found a lump in my right breast. I saw my family Dr and she found a smaller one in my left breast. One is 1 oclock position and the other one is 7 oclock.. I have an appointment 9/4/24 for mammogram and ultrasound. My mother had breast cancer 25 years ago but I don’t know what kind or stage. She had a double mastectomy. I imagine back then she didn’t have near the choices we do. I don’t know how things will go next week but I just needed to read up on things. I saw how horrible her body looked post op and to say it looked like they butchered her is putting it mildly. I have watched multiple videos so far and your is the first one I understood and gave me the information that I need now. Most have so many big words and I would quickly click to the next because i didnt need all that right now. i do need information on how to deal with something that is probably nothing more than two benign lumps but that if it end up being cancer I can get more information. not a diagnosis but more information that I can understand. i will check your other videos so that I can understand what’s being said and if they are not just lumps I might know alittle more than I did before and that I won’t have to go through a surgery that just looks like they carved her with a meat cleaver. I have options more than she ever did.
It's completely normal to feel anxious right now, and it's great that you're seeking out information. You're right-there are many more options available today than there were for your mother, and if the lumps turn out to be something more, you'll have access to advanced treatments and less invasive surgeries. In addition, surgeons are more aware of the impact of surgery on people's quality of life. Waiting for your mammogram and ultrasound can be tough. If it is something more than a benign condition, you'll be prepared with the knowledge and options that work best for you. We hope our videos continue to be a helpful resource as you navigate this.
Sir, I have a lamp in my breast for the last 6 years. Doctors said that I have fibroadenoma, fibroadenosis and fibrosyst changes as well. Earlier it was not painful but now it has become painful. Last time yellow discharge also occurred once and now there is pain in the arm. The nipple is also inverted.
I felt a lump in my breast in 2019 and had my doctor check it and was told that’s it’s normal and nothing to worry about and i still have it but it hasn’t really changed shape or size but I feel like it gets a little bigger during my periods. I am 19 now and sometimes I just get scared. I have no family history or anything. It’s all fine right?
Given your age and the description, it may indeed be a benign condition such as fibrocystic breast changes, which are common and can cause lumps that fluctuate in size with your menstrual cycle. However, any persistent lump in the breast should be evaluated by a healthcare provider to rule out any other possibilities.
I was diagnosed with stage 3breast cancer in 2023 may I went again this year in October this year now they said it's calcification must I worry about this?
We're glad you found the information helpful. It's completely normal to feel afraid about getting a biopsy. With a BIRADS 4, a biopsy is likely the right thing to do. Thank you for watching.
I just turned 60 and found a lump in my left breast near the nipple. The NP felt it immediately. I have a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound on Friday. I feel like this is most likely cancer. 😢 Oh my nipple has also been retracted for about 18 months but only thing noted back then was focal asymmetry which I feel was a huge clue!!!
It's understandable to feel anxious about the lump you found. The diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound will likely be able to help lean towards biopsy vs. not having a biopsy. Sending you positive thoughts.
Great question. We know from very large randomized trials that the risk of distant recurrence and death is not better in people who have a mastectomy who would have otherwise been able to have a lumpectomy. Removing more normal breast tissue does not increase survival. The risk of having a recurrence in the breast is higher if there is remaining breast tissue, but these recurrences (in the breast) are generally curable.
Thank you, great content; straight and to the point. I have been getting a pimple near my areola since the 90”s. All my mammograms have been perfect to date. One strange thing I have noticed is that whenever I eat dairy products the pimple increases. Recently, i slept in a tight bra for a few nights… the pimple increased to the size of a quarter coin. Calcification in fibroadenomas are common, particularly as the fibroadenoma gets older. On mammograms, the calcifications are described as "coarse popcorn-like" calcifications. In some cases, the entire fibroadenoma may become calcified. These calcifications are usually classified as macrocalcifications, which are larger and generally benign.
It is extremely unlikely that this is related to breast cancer. However, if you're noticing a hard, painful lump under the areola, it would be good to see your doctor.
Any new lump, including in the area of the areola, should be evaluated by a healthcare provider promptly to determine its nature and if further testing is needed.
Hi doc, my woman removed lumps from her breast three times and she wants to go for the Fourth operation. But the doctor said that her lumps is not cancerous and that it's only going to stop when she gives birth and start to breastfeed. Please how true is that cos I'm confused about the whole thing
Without knowing the exact diagnosis, it is difficult to provide much clarity. If three lumpectomies have not revealed cancer, it is likely that further surgery is not necessary. Again, however, it is difficult to know the underlying cause of the breast abnormalities.
Hii doctor, i felt something inside my left breast, and if i try to touch it will slightly move. 😢 Please tell me about this .its not painful. It comes to known when i touched my breast .
Thanks for watching. It’s always best to see a doctor as soon as possible for a proper evaluation. While it may not be painful, it’s important to get it checked out by a doctor.
Thank you doctor, pls am 25 years old I feel something like short long something in my areola but am not feeling any pain what can I call that doctor, pls explain
If you feel a lump or any unusual changes in your areola, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider for a proper assessment. They can determine what it might be and whether any further testing is needed. While at your age, breast cancer is extremely uncommon, getting medical attention is the right thing to do.
Constant pain in your breasts is concerning. It's important to speak with your healthcare provider about this persistent pain, as they can offer more personalized advice and potentially adjust your treatment plan. We're here to support you, and hope you find relief soon.
Hello mam, I am diagnosed with fibroadenoma birds 3 and size is 1.5cm ? Doctor also said it's fibroadenoma by clinical examination. Can you please suggest should I get it remove?
There are characteristics of lumps that are fibroadenomas. That is, they look and feel a certain way. However, a biopsy may be indicated. It is worthwhile to ask about the value of a biopsy in your case.
Thank you so much for this video, I'm new here, I am very much concerned about the lumps in my, especially left breast. They have always been there and enlarge mostly before my periods and reduce after that but this time around they are a bit concerning because they have reduced after menstruation yes but they are a weird. I'm so nervous and afraid. I don't know why it's concerning this time around when I've been like this for up to ten years
Thank you for writing with your concerns. All kinds of things can make us worry about things that have been happening for a while. It's common for worries to increase when other stressors come up, when we hear of someone diagnosed with cancer, or even when stressful things go away! Hoping that coming here and writing to us helps you feel less alone.
We're sorry to hear about the pain you're experiencing. Not all breast lumps are cancerous, but it's important to have any new or painful lumps checked by your doctor as soon as possible. They can evaluate the lump and determine the best course of action.
Hi Dr. I visited my dr.and he asked me to go for a scan,of which i did,but the report shows that,i have a lump at my left lower breat and my ampit,no im to go for surgery, but i scared
It’s completely normal to feel scared about surgery. The thought of going through a procedure, especially for something as worrying as a lump, can bring up so many emotions. It’s good that your doctor is being proactive, but your feelings are valid-this is a big step. Have you had a chance to ask your doctor about what the surgery involves and how they’ll make you comfortable? Sometimes understanding what to expect can ease some of the fear. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for support, whether it’s from loved ones or others who’ve been through similar experiences.

Please am 38years old and have lumb in my breast for the past fifty years when I visit the hospital the me is not cancerous I allow it last year October breast cancer day went for screening yet nothing good was said. I really need a test that will ensure me it will one day not grow into cancer thank
Multiple coarse calcified foci in a report usually refer to areas of calcification, which are common and often benign. However, it's important to discuss this finding with your doctor to understand its specific implications.
Hi doctor , is non calcified cyst has a chance for breast cancer because this is what I saw in my screening mammogram report. I had later diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound and given Birads 3 category.please reply me as I am very stressed about all this.
Thanks for coming here. It is so hard to have anything abnormal and to be scared. Calcified cysts are not cancer and are not pre-cancer. They do not increase the risk of cancer. We hope this is helpful in allaying your fears.
It’s understandable to feel scared about changes in your breast. A small pimple-like spot could be harmless, like a clogged pore or irritation, but it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor to rule out anything more serious. Your peace of mind is important, so don't hesitate to get it checked.
I have multiple firoadenoma in my both breast.. Largest is 2.5cm and also i have my fnac done from the largest lump which resulted as Fibroadenosis.I experience slight pain in my breast sometimes and also in arms and i have upper back pain too so is it realted to this so is there any risk of cancer in future.. Kindly reply ma'am
Fibroadenomas are typically benign breast lumps, and having multiple fibroadenomas usually don't increase your risk of breast cancer. However, it's important to monitor any changes and continue regular check-ups with your doctor.
Hai mam i had lumpectomy rt breast biopsy results is benign proliferative breast disease firoadnosis is this high risk of cancer in future.after surgery still i have pain in nipple and surgery site is it normal.
This diagnosis is not associated with a higher risk of breast cancer. Pain after surgery is common. It usually improves with time, but if you're experiencing ongoing or severe pain, it's important to consult your surgeon to ensure proper healing and manage pain effectively.
Great question. Non-cancerous lumps in the lymph nodes are treated based on the underlying cause. Some people will have surgery depending on what is causing the lump.
Yes, breast MRIs are very sensitive and can detect breast cancer, especially in dense breast tissue or when other imaging like mammograms are inconclusive.
Hi doctor I went to the doctor and they told me I have brast mass and they make me take a mamagram and I do a biopsy and say thers is nothing show up but when I press It i saw something like milk but not smally I I just don't what is that but I put my trust in God
It’s understandable to feel worried when you’re going through something like this, especially with all the unknowns. It’s a good sign that the biopsy didn’t show anything, but we can see why the discharge would be concerning. It could be something benign like a cyst or galactorrhea, but it’s always best to keep communicating with your doctor about any changes you notice.
Am 20 ma'am and I have this ball like thing on top my breast and i noticed it since i was in grade 11 or 9 and I didn't really put too much thought to it but I noticed it got a bigger but the funny part is that i don't feel pain and I don't know if it's a benign 😢
It's important to have any new or changing lumps checked by a healthcare professional. While many breast lumps can be benign, only a doctor can determine the cause and recommend appropriate steps through scans. Wishing you the best.

Lump is painful for me. But still i have not contacted any doctor, pls tell me what should i do? Do i want to contact doctor? Pls reply me. I am getting fear.
We understand how nerve-wracking this must feel, but it's a good idea to get the lump checked by a doctor. Painful lumps can have different causes, many of which are non-cancerous, but it’s always best to have a medical evaluation for peace of mind. Your doctor can guide you on the best steps moving forward. Take a deep breath and know that you’re doing the right thing by seeking advice!
Hyy doc, my mom diagnose with breast cancer 3 months ago im 17 and im feeling lump near nipple which is movable soft and so tiny i go to doctor but she said it's normal but she didn't tell to mammography and ultrasound Because im too young but im scared what should i do?
We understand why you’re feeling scared, especially after your mom’s diagnosis. It’s common for young people to have small, movable lumps that are benign, but it’s good that you’ve already seen a doctor. If you’re still worried, it’s okay to ask for more clarification or even a second opinion for your peace of mind. In general, we avoid mammography in people at your age because your breast tissue is vulnerable to radiation therapy, which can increase the risk of cancer in people under 30.

Fibroadenomas do generally cause pain. However, some people find that they are more tender around their menstrual period. In addition, if someone is touching the fibroadenoma a lot, that can cause tenderness. Thank you for watching.

Hey doc I find this helpful but help me understand what I'm going through. I'm breastfeeding and when my baby is feeding I'm feeling pain inside my boobs..what could that be?
It's understandable that this is concerning to you. It is unlikely to be a serious problem and is more likely to be a blocked duct. Nonetheless, it would be smart to discuss this with your physician or other member of your medical team.

And if it’s not can i get it removed through surgery? The pain is sometimes unbearable…Thanks a lot hoping to get a reply
Any persistent lump, especially one causing pain, should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. While many breast lumps are benign, especially those associated with hormonal changes, it's important to have it assessed, especially given its size and your discomfort.
@@yerbba Thanks for the reply it has been accessed through the means of a mammogram and i was told it’s not cancerous in any way guess it’s benign….advised also to go for a fine needle test . Can benign lump be removed?
Yes, it is possible for a breastfeeding mother to get breast cancer during breastfeeding. If you have any concerns or notice any unusual changes, it's important to consult with your doctor.
It's important to have any new lumps checked by a healthcare professional. While many lumps are benign, it's best to get a proper evaluation to ensure everything is okay. Please see your doctor as soon as possible.

It's understandable that you would be worried. Tenderness during pregnancy is of course common, and the imaging you've had sounds reassuring. Nonetheless, raising your concerns again with your medical team would be wise.
At 26 years old, it’s great that you’re paying attention to your health. Make sure to follow up with a healthcare provider about your lump, even though it’s rare for young adults to have serious issues, it’s always better to be proactive.
We hope our response was helpful. Knowing that you are 25 is helpful; it is extremely unlikely but not unheard of that this would be a malignancy. Getting it checked out would be prudent.

Sometimes very painful that mass solid lump in areola region in left breast . Its a dangerous dctr
I have multiple breast cyst but I believe in Jesus. God healed me and got normal reports. Thanks Jesus

Hello doctor l have a lump below my left breast it pains when I press on it
It’s important to have any lump, especially one causing pain, evaluated by a doctor. Please schedule an appointment as soon as possible to get it checked out-it’s always better to address these concerns early.
Please am 38years old and have lumb in my breast for the past fifty years when I visit the hospital the me is not cancerous I allow it last year October breast cancer day went for screening yet nothing good was said. I really need a test that will ensure me it will one day not grow into cancer thank
Thanks for sharing your concern with us. Having had this lump for so many years makes it extremely unlikely that this is cancer.
Doctor kindly reply me
My report shows I have multiple coarse calcifi foci
What is mean ?
I have a little pimple looking thing on one of my breasts. Should that be a problem? pls help, im really scared
It’s understandable to feel scared about changes in your breast. A small pimple-like spot could be harmless, like a clogged pore or irritation, but it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor to rule out anything more serious. Your peace of mind is important, so don't hesitate to get it checked.
@ thank you so much
I have multiple firoadenoma in my both breast..

Hey are you there@@p1xi3dust333
Hai mam i had lumpectomy rt breast biopsy results is benign proliferative breast disease firoadnosis is this high risk of cancer in future.after surgery still i have pain in nipple and surgery site is it normal.
This diagnosis is not associated with a higher risk of breast cancer.
Pain after surgery is common. It usually improves with time, but if you're experiencing ongoing or severe pain, it's important to consult your surgeon to ensure proper healing and manage pain effectively.
Do you get surgery to remove a lump in your lymph nodes that's
not cancerous?
Great question. Non-cancerous lumps in the lymph nodes are treated based on the underlying cause. Some people will have surgery depending on what is causing the lump.
Can a breast cancer can be seen in breast MRI?
Please I want you to tell me the medicine of the breast lumps I don't understand ur English or use ibo language please and please

We understand your fear. It's important to contact your doctor to check the new lumps. They can provide the reassurance and care you need.
Hii, my age is 24. i have breast lump in my left breast. The lump is painful. I am having it from more than 1 year i think. Rather than that, my breast size, colour, nipple and everything is normal.
@@yerbba thank you for your reply!! I really appreciate your efforts of reading all comments and replying them your comment really make me relief I was scared the lump is still there doctor gave medical for month if it doesn't strink they're going to ultrasound but your comment make me relief it's normal lump
Hey Dr my breast are painful an ultrasound result shows they are fibroadenoma. Do fibroadenoma hurt?
Fibroadenomas do generally cause pain. However, some people find that they are more tender around their menstrual period. In addition, if someone is touching the fibroadenoma a lot, that can cause tenderness. Thank you for watching.
Does this information apply to males the same?
Yes, the same abnormalities can occur in men as well as women although cysts and fibroadenomas, which are benign, are less common.

Pls doctor kindly reply me i beg of you …….I have a lump measuring about 5cm if i touch it , it moves and round in shape and it’s close to my nipple….i noticed the lump few months after weaning my daughter from breastfeeding i was in my early 20s then now I’m in my early 30s almost 8yrs now the lump is still there and causing me serious pains most times during premenstrual days and ovulation and other times i get consistent pains……is it cancerous or what ? And if it’s not can i get it removed through surgery? The pain is sometimes unbearable…Thanks a lot hoping to get a reply
Any persistent lump, especially one causing pain, should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. While many breast lumps are benign, especially those associated with hormonal changes, it's important to have it assessed, especially given its size and your discomfort.
@@yerbba Thanks for the reply it has been accessed through the means of a mammogram and i was told it’s not cancerous in any way guess it’s benign….advised also to go for a fine needle test . Can benign lump be removed?
Is a breastfeeding mother can get breast cancer during breastfeeding time

Lump and fibroids is samea mam
A lump is a physical exam finding--something we feel in the body. A fibroid usually refers to a benign growth in the uterus (womb).
