Good morning Stuart. Great demo. As usual I am inspired and relaxed in equal measure. Thank you. With regard to the back problem I also had a strong back until I abuse it and put it out and spent 2 long spells flat on my back the last one in hospital. One thing I found which helped was, before going to bed, to take a bath towel (sheet preferably) and taking two opposite corners wind it into a sausage. Then tie the sausage around the waist so that if you turn onto your back the sausage puts your back in. I hope it helps.
Dear Stuart, I hope your back gets better!! I know what that is like. I went through a lot of months with it recently where the pain was up to a 7 or 8 out of 10. Thank you for this tutorial. I am sorry to hear about your back, I had that problem too, when I used to carry water jerrycans on my bike. Loading and unloading the jerrycans did it for me. If you would like, I would like to repay your kindness for sharing the tips in this video with helping you cure your back problem permanently. It is just a little trick to get the nerve back to it's proper place. The relief is unbelievable. 😊
The first thing to do is, you have to lie flat and have someone measure the distance between your left nipple and navel, and right nipple and navel with a piece of string. Ideally, the distance should be equal but for us back sufferers, there is a difference in the distance. If there is a difference in the measurement, next morning, before eating or drinking anything, after a bowel movement, you like down on a flat surface, say the floor. Then, another person rubs hard at a particular pressure points near the ankle and foot joint, yanks the big toe on each foot and then you have to come into a sitting position without raising your knees. Your partner can help keep your knees down. As soon as you are in a sitting position, that is it. Stretch the back, get up. Eat something immediately. You will be fine.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful calming gift of your talents. Like you I’m exhausted of painting what others expect You have reassured me that freedom is not a bad thing. I hope your back gets better. I know my painting will. Be well!
1. Your voice is so soothing. 2. I have bad back problems too! 3. Thank for you just getting into it and showing technique...so many "How to" videos includes way too much about the surfaces, brushes, cleaners, tools etc... and then barely any painting! I learn by watching, so thank you for providing a peaceful tutorial. The more I watch, the more eager I am to get into it! 4. lol I have OCD for perfection, so being chaotic - or more so un-orchestrated - is gonna be my challenge in all of this. But I think that'll help me in coping with mistakes and not being so critical of myself even beyond art.
Glad to hear your back is better. As a Licensed Massage Therapist, thrown out back is notttt fun. Your painting has definitely helped my skills and stress.
I feel it with the back especially when trying to enjoy painting...I got myself a tens machine which helps lengthen the time I can do things. Beautiful work 😊
Acupuncture for your lower back and other issues. Lower back, symbolically, has to do with support, financial support... Also, "Five Elements Acupuncture" specifically correlates the seasons, emotions, colors, balance, etc. "Five Elements Acupuncture" is fascinating similar to balancing out the many facets of a painting. Excellent video. Glad to watch a completely different style and approach to painting. Wow! Being a back-to-painting four year beginner, I would have painted every brush stroke for the little trees and now I see an option! Terrific sky and lanscape. Chris Volpe (American) has a similar style. Thank you from America.
As I am sadly well familiar to back problems and doing yoga and other exercises to keep it within bearable proportions, I can neither paint sitting and standing gives me great problems after a while. I have now a saddle chair wich is a great help. You can roll backward to create distance to your painting and easily get into painting distance again. You don't really sit but you don't stand either. And as always, thank you so much for giving us this useful information. I greatly appreciate it.
I'm glad you are feeling better. I know what it's like having back pain especially as we get older and I am 67. Take good care of your back and I know you are.

That helped more than anything else. Thank you for this. Hope you don't mind me offering, but frozen pastry (applied to back pain) is quite relieving, I'm told. I suggested my husband use it on his sciatica instead of ice and the best bit is, unlike ice, it doesn't drip. It all swells 'back' into the pastry as it defrosts. Anyway, I love the calming effect as you talk through. I'm feeling confident enough to get back to some art and trying oil. Totally subscribed!

4. lol I have OCD for perfection, so being chaotic - or more so un-orchestrated - is gonna be my challenge in all of this.
Yes, whenever I get a back ache , I think- ' my subconscious is not supporting this
Thanks. Thanks. Also sorry about your back and I'm glad you're back
A beautiful beginning thankful ❤
I love your attitude and your style of painting. ( not that I could ever be able to copy it.)
As always another informative lesson, brilliant for those starting out. You did it for me!
I always learn many things from your videos. Thank you sir 😀
Hi Stuart . Excellent as usual , getting started is always the difficult part ... this will help and I'll watch it many times. Cheers !
Bedankt
Thank you!
That’s really helpful brilliant video thank you as I’ve just started oil painting for the very first time
As I am sadly well familiar to back problems and doing yoga and other exercises to keep it within bearable proportions, I can neither paint sitting and standing gives me great problems after a while.
Fantastic. I learn a lot. Thank you. And welcome ”back”
Thank you Mr. Davies! I'm glad your back is better♥
Thank you for sharing, I’m going to try this approach with my own palette to improve my colour mixing 👍 Love your work!

Thank you so much. I hope you feel better soon.
Love your technique. Thank you, sir!
I love your approach to the art! You don't make it complicated for the sake of being complicated. Just use whatever you need to get the effect you are looking for. New subscriber here!
I've got the bad back to so I completely understand. If I sneeze the wrong way I could be out of commission for the next week or two. Nice to see you back at it.
I wish I could do this.So amazing how u do its beautiful
That helped more than anything else. Thank you for this.
Hope you don't mind me offering, but frozen pastry (applied to back pain) is quite relieving, I'm told.
I suggested my husband use it on his sciatica instead of ice and the best bit is, unlike ice, it doesn't drip. It all swells 'back' into the pastry as it defrosts.
Anyway, I love the calming effect as you talk through. I'm feeling confident enough to get back to some art and trying oil.
