Very excited to see the full warscroll for the new hero. Sad it’s not a generic vamp cavalry hero (or generic hero in general). Legion of blood is my favourite dynasty. I love that it's Deathrattle focused and puts alot of weight on vampire heroes. It's a shame that the army has so little customisation for vampires and aside from the trueblades, no vamp foot units. Wish it had some skeleton archers or a vamp archer hero, so I made my own anyway.
Super cool and helpful video! Was just wondering how you come up with your lists? As a new player, I don't have anyone to bounce list ideas off of, so I might not realize a glaring weakness.
I build my competitive lists by researching current meta not only in Soulblight but other factions as well. Looking at the current GHB and tactics and building around the completion of these tactics with the most point per performance optimal units (as well as what I find fun). I am happy to look over a list you are considering and give my feedback on it.

@@anon_domini6603 Happy to help in any way I can. I highly recommend joining the AoS Coach Discord server. Great source of community feedback and knowledge. Regarding your list, I would personally drop the 10 Grave Guard as you normally want them in a block of 20 to really deal significant damage, at 10 I feel like the points can be better spent on a unit of Zombies or Dire Wolves. You could run the two units of Wolves with 2 base units of Skeletons or with one 20 block of Skeletons. The Wolves aren't a waste of 300 points, you want to use them to grab objectives and potentially die early so you can work towards your Grand Strategy. Hey I'm really glad you ended up making this followup to your last video, I think you've become my favorite SGBL youtuber. I'm still very new (waiting on some models to ship to complete my first army), can you please explain what gives the "ethereal 3+" that I keep hearing you mention?
Thank you so much for the kind words. Hearing that these videos can be helpful to the community really motivates me to keep producing more. The "ethereal" 3+ (using the word ethereal to relate to nighthaunt mechanic - just means the save cannot be modified either in a positive or negative fashion) can come from two sources: 1. The Cloak of Mists and Shadows artefact (usually given to VLoZd) 2. Neferata warscroll spell Dark Mist (which you can target a unit with - even herself) Looking forward to hearing more about your SBGL journey!
@@nopaintnogains948Thanks a lot! One quick follow-up, I noticed you never picked the sword for the VLoZD. Is it bad or is the opportunity cost just not worth it?
@@TheBDU The standard choice is the lance because it offers -3 rend -3 damage on the charge. The sword doesn't get these bonuses, it just sits at -1 rend 2 damage always. @@nopaintnogains948 One last question if it's ok, about to put together my final army for Friday. I ended up putting together something similar to your standard list, but I want to replace the grave guardx1 and lord on foot with a 2nd VLoZD. Would that serve the same purpose as a hammer or am I going to run into trouble in a more competitive game. I don't have the experience to really know yet and don't want to drop money on another dragon if I won't use it. I get that it will make battalions sloppy but not sure if that matters so much.
This is the second video I’ve seen that says Black Knights impact effect, but it is not in the battle tome or errata’s that I can see - can someone please tell me what I am missing? Edit: Apparently I was sold an old battle tome?? No where seems to list editions online 😕
I was about to say that you might have picked up the second edition battle tome. I am sorry to hear that happened to you. The way their ability works is that after the charge you pick 1 enemy unit within 1" of this unit. You roll 2 dice for each model black knight model, on 5+ the target suffers 1 mortal wound. You do not need to have the entire black knight unit within 1" just at least 1 knight model
If anyone has an answer for me, my friend and I are having a debate. He insists that if I have 2 vampire lords on foot (VL), standing next to 2 units of skeletons, that I can only use Crimson Feast with 1 VL. I say each VL can use Crimson Feast in the same turn as long as they are each targeting a different unit. Thoughts?
You are correct. Each Vamp Lord can use Crimson Feast so long as they do not target the same Summonable unit. This works b/c the wording on the ability does not classify Crimson Feast as a command and as such is not subject to core rule 6.1
Since LoN might come out later, would black knights, wight king on steed and VLoZD bee good in that list? Kind of following the rule of cool atm and just bought the vanguard box
I am terribly behind on posting the new vids due to work and personal things getting in the way, but I am hoping to get a LoN and a Vyrkos video out soon. If you are going for just rule of cool then those units would work fine. Normally you see competitive LoN lists running Manfred, Lauka Vai, a vamp lord on foot, and maybe a necromancer or a popular choice is the sons of velmorn (which are near impossible to find right now). Black knights are versatile enough that they can be used in almost any list in my opinion.
Blood Knights used to be a core unit when the book first launched. You would take a reinforced unit and apply Dark Mist on them making them a very difficult piece to remove. They fell out of favor with subsequent points nerfs. Their problem comes more from the fact that the current book format favors Summonable very heavily. That coupled with how expensive core LoB units are make it difficult to justify bringing Blood Knights. You can for sure try running something like: Nefy, VLoZD, Vamp Lord, Dire Wolves, Dire Wolves, Skeletons x2, Blood Knights, Blood Knights (Maybe 1 unit reinforced and have Nefy use Dark Mist again). But I can't guarantee it will perform exceptionally well. Hope this ramble made sense and helped :)
Personally Im not always gonna use Neffy, Im a very 'Your Dudes" style of player, but definitely am gonna at least get her at some point. I just like the old lore of the bloodline and the general emphasis on skellies and vampires. Also I definitely want a Wight King on Steed, that new update really sold me in the end on the army! And I love Black Knights and making their charge better. Eventually I want to build sort of down the middle, fun and thematic but also able to win decently consistently. Units I wish to include: -VLoZD, I got the kit lying around and it would be a great centerpiece. -Grave Guard, honestly one of the reasons Ive been delaying starting building is because I heard the horror stories of constructing these guys, but can't not have access to them -Deathrattle, rank and file, newer sculpts, look great. -Black Knights, kinda wanna try that one gimmicky list that runs a bunch of them and covers the board but not sure if I should -Wight King on Steed, the model that ended up selling me on the faction in the end
While I am a Nefy fanboy for sure, I understand not wanting to bring her. VLoZD really makes LoB worthwhile with the Cloak artefact. The WKoS and Black Knights combo can be pretty spicy if you run a brick of 10 and get that charge of (20 dice, mortals on 4+......very nice). Im not to sure about a Black Knight spam list tho. I think the most I would do would be 10-15. I would probably try something like: VLoZD - General - Cloak of Mist and Shadows - Doomed Minions Wight King on Skeletal Steed - Amulet of Screams (for the memes) Vampire Lord - Hoarfrost Vampire Lord - Blizzard Black Knights x1 Skeletons x1 Skeletons x1 Grave Guard x1 Could Swap the second Vampire Lord for Wight King on Foot to support GG and give exploding 6s but I like the extra spell cast option.

@@justinterrell7020 You are correct Grave Guard work best in a brick of 20 ( the x1 next to the names indicates one reinforcement so its 10 Black Knights, 20 Skellies, and 20 GG). You can drop the Vampire Lord for 5 Knights or maybe reduce one of the 20 skellies to only 10 and that might have enough points for the 5 extra nights. Before the points hike there were some pretty decent lists also running 10 man squads of blood knights were Nefy would cast Dark Mist on. Then you would have 30 wounds saving on a 3+.
@@nopaintnogains948 that sounds horrendously gnarly. Those drops sound like what I’d do too, either 10 skeletons or a lord. Its a little iffy because LoB loves its vampires a lot; I forget, do they still have command abilities in aos3? I recall the lords has the great ability to give extra attacks. If the 10 Knights were already accounted for then I think the lord or reinforcing the deathrattle are probably the better options, just as long as I get to use my cool horse guys!
