    I think you gave a very fair review. I like that you have experience in some of the competition, But you didn't really swing one way or the other. As much as I absolutely love playing this through the fender power cab, I equally appreciated it when directly plugged into my recording software... I'm just learning how to do this stuff. And this makes it so much easier than trying to mic up my actual amp...

    Good playing Rich! For sure Everytime I jump to modellers- I am somehow always back to the tube amp. More content on the HT Mark 3 amigo- that is inspiration!!

    Thanks so much for this video. Please be aware that ALL of the presets need A LOT of tweaking in order to get them where they should be sonically. Having the TMP for just a few days will not give you the best idea of what it is capable of. I've only come to really love the TMP after about four days of tweaking. I was skeptical at first. PS - A new firmware update was released today (11-21-23).

    Honestly I could care less about high gain - the clean and mid gain stuff and effects are sooooo good. They'll fix the higher gain stuff anyway - but the unit does what I want already better than any other (currently).

      Hi Landon, how are you getting on with your TMP? I have had mine only a short time. I have not even got through the first few presets. I find myself just playing and getting lost in the music and great tones the unit puts out. I too am a clean to edge of breakup guy. I do believe they will get to the high gain as you said here. I have to admit I am a bit uneasy about how often they will do firmware updates... only a few times a year is what I heard. Personally I think at this stage of things they should do quarterly, but that is just one guys opinion. I have had a Pod Go, and just sold my Quad Cortex. I like the TMP best so far.

      @@BrianVallotton still loving it Brian! I'm the same - one of the best pieces of gear I've ever had. I play so much rather than fiddle. Honestly my patch with a Fender Deluxe sounds great even without any effects - add a little reverb and it's just gold. Anything else on that just sweetens the deal.
      Since I got the TMP and made this comment I got the FR12 also and it's wonderful as well. I've always hated most FRFR options and I've tried a ton - but it sounds amazing. Wide - fills the room - and tons of bass to fill out the sound for playing alone - or you can remove it. So much like an amp.
      I'm having a wonderful time - my only fear is that some the naysayers in the forums and such could influence Fender to make negative changes where they aren't needed - hopefully that won't happen - that's why those of us who really like it need to keep speaking up (I think).
      Glad you're having a great time - me too.

      @@landon.cunningham Wow! Landon, Thanks for the great reply. Here's to "confirmation bias!" hehe. I have a Line 6 Power Cab 112 I bought when I was using my Pod Go. I do not like it. I don't know why I keep it. We are silent stage at church where I play weekly so no use there. At home I am playing my TMP through my old Yamaha receiver into some old Boston Acoustic speakers I have and it sounds great. I have heard good things about the FR12. For the reasons you mentioned I would probably love it just like you do. I think I will sell my Power Cab and save up for the FR12. I really appreciate you responding to me. UA-cam is my only social media. :-) God bless.

    I think if you're into vintage tones the TMP is the way to go. If you want modern/high gain Fractal or Helix are a better bet. There's something for everyone. Also important to note that the TMP will improve with updates, while Fractal just released it's 23rd version.

    • @QuoVadis88
      @QuoVadis88 8 місяців тому +3

      That's until the TMP updates come out. Why do so many people not understand time does not stand still. A year from now the TMP will be miles ahead. Good to get one now and get in on the ground floor. Old Katana amps are in landfills. Old Fender amps are highly prized in nice homes.

    • @msi1985
      @msi1985 8 місяців тому +1

      I'm actually not disappointed with the high gain tones... The presets, on the other hand, are a different story. They use a room mic 2 inches from the center cone. What did they expect, hehe 😅 I have a Mesa boogie amp and next to it with the fr12 I've managed to clone it in under 5 minutes.... I personally got this unit for the clean and edge of breakup tones that I was having a hard time achieving consistently with my other amplifier.

    I never have seen your channel before but your playing is excellent. I am a clean to light distortion guy. And I am 59 yo and I can't lug heavy amps any more, so this might fit the bill if I can match it with a lightweight solid state amp. Any suggestions?

    No doubt a good sounding unit but so are many other units. Feel it's a bit pricey but there again so are many of the other units. Question is,can you get similar sounds or better with a decent amp and some pedals ? Might be wrong but I guess a lot of people may buy it for home/studio use for it's versatility. As with all units of this type you will probably save a few of your favourite sounds and the units multi sounds/effects become under used. Keep up the good work.

    • @gdawgs101
      @gdawgs101 8 місяців тому +1

      It's basically the same price as all the other flagship units so not sure where you're coming from with that complaint. Did you expect it to be $800? 😂
      The Helix is 8 years old and it's still $1600. The price seems right in line with the market as far as I can tell

    The bass is rich and the range is wide.
    I think this equipment is the best especially for Fender sound.
    But that's all for now.
    I like that it can do a lot of things and has new features, but for the price, I wish it had a pedal.
    Overall, it's not a bad piece of gear, but considering the price, I feel it's lacking.

    People are talking about how expensive this unit is. Even though I would probably enjoy having a device like it where you didn’t necessarily need outboard software to edit or create presets, I think I would sooner take a chance on HX Stomp or Firehawk, especially if I knew either could profile the distortion generator I purchased at the end of 2022 (and have commented about in several places).
    I would like to know something. What is your opinion of the Behringer synthesizer over your right shoulder, Rich?

    How many updates has the TMP had after a month? Fractal has had ten years of updates. So the TMP will only sound better with successive updates. Fender abandoned the low-end crap they were toying with. They are not going to abandon the flagship TMP. I have a TMP. It is a long-term keeper.

  • @misterreality

    I played with one recently. Is it better than the helix? I don’t think so, I’d also be worried about Fenders long game to support this unit. They abandoned Fuse and the Suoer Champs. I think I’ll stick with my Pod go and Tonex

    Cool demo my brother. The Tone Master sounds good but it doesn't elevate the sound beyond what a good amp would do. The price tag is steep for a gadget that will be obsolete in a couple years, as are all computer based musical gadgets. A ProCo Rat, Cry-Baby, Tube Screamer, etc are all timeless gadgets that will still be relevant 10 years from now. They cost a fraction of the price of any modeling system. Of course, price is not the real issue for people looking to get into a modeling system. Bro, I've heard you play through your Katana and it was fabulous. A Mesa Boogie RectoVerb 25w (sale prices) costs about the same amount as the Fender Tone master. Throw a Keely Verb pedal in the effects loop and you've got a beast of a sound, clean or dirty. Overall, there is nothing wrong with that Fender gadget. But no one is going to run up to the player and rave about what they just heard. But, it's a cool gadget that could be useful to certain players. ROCK ON Bro'

      Based on what? Bro the Helix is like $100 cheaper... You're complaining about $100? 😂
      This device has more functionality than the FM3, like it can actually run 2 amps for instance. It's also just straight up better than the Headrush. Ask anybody who's played both the TMP and any of the Headrush products and find me one who prefers the Headrush.
      Seems like you just want it to be cheaper because you want it to be cheaper lol

    Sounds pretty good to me! I am not sure I would want to pay £1600 that it costs in the UK as there are better value modellers that do more. If you are a brand type and want Fender then you won't go far wrong with this.

      Why is the price wrong? It's right in line with the competition - Quad Cortex, FM9, Helix Floor, etc.

    • @Annunaki_0517
      @Annunaki_0517 6 місяців тому

      @@Daddybell6957I sort of agree with this. I think it’s probably a bit better than the GTX, but look how fast Fender abandoned that whole line. I don’t see them sticking with this product and issuing free firmware updates and improvements for 8 years plus as Line 6 did with the Helix. Helix and it’s entire ecosystem was L6’s flagship product (and the main reason Yamaha wanted to buy Line 6), so the amount of investment they put into it was logical. Fender has too many other product lines to ever put that much time, money or resources behind the Tonemaster Pro. As the original post said, these will be available on the used market very soon at a much steeper discount than what you can get a Helix for. A used Helix still commands 75-80% of the price of a new unit. The Tonemaster won’t hold its value in the same manner because Fender will drop this product after 3-4 years, same as they did with the original Mustang amps, the Bassbreakers, and countless other non-core product lines.
