Wonder how Carl would be today when pitted against some of the more modern bikes and younger riders. Be interesting to hear his view point on how advanced racing has become post his departure.
Foggy, Hailwood, Agostini, Surtees, Redman, Sheene, Roberts, Lawson, Schwantz, Doohan, Spencer, Rainey, etc. They would all say the same thing; racing has advanced massively, however if they raced now (as young men), they would get the most out of the bike/technology as they did in their era. They raced what was given to them to the maximum, and they would do the same now, if they were young.
