Aww that calf cant be very old - it's little legs needed a break. I do love how they surrounded it, they're magnificent creatures. That wasn't a traffic jam it was privilege.

Spike: You even been in one of those "Wonderful" traffic jams? I was in Yellowstone recently and there was one of those wonderful traffic jams in the other lane that had traffic backed up for 15 miles. From before the turn off to the West Gate almost ALL the way to the West Gate. If you know Yellowstone you know how far that is!

@@63bplumb People who have an issue with it shouldn't be in the park. It's Yellowstone, you know what can happen before you even plan the trip to go. Just go to a different park if you don't have the patience to deal with it and ruin it for everyone else.

Only in a society with the vast majority removed from actually living with animals do such sentiments get "liked." Animals are often abandoned by their parents or left to die if they're weak or the runt of the litter, hence why that expression ever came into being. Animal fathers are rarely involved in the life of their offspring. Don't romanticize nature so much. She can be quite brutal.

I had some interesting conversations about animals v recent settlers (Less than 200 years ago). One of them was about bears there who still used route that bears had used for thousands of years but which had been settled in the 1900's as an exclusive holiday area, The complaint was that bears were still going through the settlement and should find a different route! Just the glimpse of them took my breath away.

The love and care these magnificent creatures show for their most vulnerable members is heartwarming.

Seeing these magnificent animals in such a close up makes me realise how "little" man is, yet how much destruction we have caused. So glad that bison are again roaming the grounds they were almost made extinct from.
Also, just to see the care that the herd gives to the youngest, most vulnerable member of their group is a lesson for us all; our first instinct should be to protect, not harm.

Не бойтесь: площадь Йеллоустоуна составляет 3 472 квадратных миль (2 221 766 акров), что делает его больше, чем штаты Род-Айленд и Делавэр вместе взятые.

There are a tiny number of Bison here in the UK but they are to be re established. Baby is young and tired so seemed like a good spot to rest......Why not? It's nice and flat here. Humankind has arrogantly overtaken so much natural land, epitomized here by a bright red man emerging from his truck imagining he can advance this situation through a herd of bison and baby but deep down knowing he was impotent to do anything.........Very wise.

@@Yellowstonewolves Yes, they are to be re established in Kent which is in the south east of England below London. They will be semi wild in a fenced 500 hectare area (too crowded to be allowed to roam free in South east England). They will be managed by the wildlife trust and the Wildwood trust.

Bison are the largest land mammals in North America and are deeply respected by any human with even half a brain. Give them the space they need, and enjoy them from a safe distance. There have been many examples of people getting too close, and learning some very hard lessons as a result.

They are just so majestic. I'm staying at an RV park in North Texas right now and they have a conservation herd here. There are 3 babies. I will always remember waking up and just being able to watch these magnificent gracefull animals doing what they do.
