I think there are a lot of young people and kids wearing Moon Swatches now. That in the future could buy Omegas, not to mind the boost in Speedmaster sales. I look at it as setting up the next generation of Omega owns, which brands have been having issue with. I don’t think it honestly cheapened the brand, if Rolex did it uses would be lapping it up oh wait they did and you did “TUDOR” and when you think of Omega you don’t think of the Moon swatch do you, no, you still think about the Speedmaster. The problem is a lot of watch snobs have money and are out of touch with average people and what they will spend on something, think back before you bought your first Luxury watch. Look at Tag with the original F1, it didn’t hurt Tag.
The Moonswatch is played the fk out. There's a new version everytime I turn around. If the Omega Speedmaster Professional design wasn't milked enough. Rolex would never do anything like the Moonswatch and let's face it they don't have to
Nah. I didn’t get it at all, thought this was a bad play. But then I saw a young kid who is in college, wants to graduate and go into finance and he loves watches. Can’t afford a Speedy, but he plans to buy one after he graduates. So, now I get it. It’s a brilliant play. They are letting us old dogs die off and guaranteeing that the next generation is going to want to own a Speedy.
I bought the MoonSwatch mission to the Moon THEN I bought a new Speedmaster Professional Moon watch.
I bought the Scuba X Fifty Fathoms THEN a I bought a new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. I doubt I’m the only person to do this.
Genius marketing IMO.
Same price as the other Moonswatches, with the exception of the Snoopy moonphases - maybe that was what you were using for price comparison and made you think there was a price cut?
Very good point. The spillover effects were surely spread in many directions. I personally bought other watches when I picked up a MoonSwatch and I'm guessing I wasnt the only one who did this. The increased foot traffic into Swatch boutiques was an excellent strategy. And the inflection in Speedmaster coverage led me to buy an Omega Speedmaster...which I dont think I would have without the MoonSwatch publicity.

I was a Rolex maxi > bought a MoonSwatch > 2 weeks later bought a Moon Watch.
and you could actually buy it bc it was available in the shop.
NO WAY does this diminish the value of Omega .... like a Miro Swatch ... come on this is a conversation for people who look at watches as a prestige item only ... bummer people think so ... it is a very good idea and wondeful, playful

last month I went to kbbq place with my friend back at uni, among them there's 2 MoonSwatches and 1 Applewatch I take that a win as a Watch nerds.
there was no price reduction, you confusing it with the msrp for the snoopy versions

I’ve seen one person in the wild with a moon swatch and at first I thought he was into watches and knowledgeable and got it for the novelty of it all. Nope I was wrong. That’s the only watch he wears and I genuinely think he thinks he bought something worthwhile. Don’t get me wrong the moon swatch has its place but none should ever only have just the moon swatch. You’re better off with just owning a gshock if you are going to own just one watch.

These watches are total rubbish. The whole point of a quality watch, is that it will be with you forever.

@@russellis6993 I own other brands, but in comparison to Omega, Rolex is clearly the better brand, and it makes the superior watches. Rolex >>> Omega.
Omega is literally the 3rd biggest brand in the world for sales. Omega is doing just fine. They are not rolex competitors. Most of their watches are less expensive than rolex.
