What an excellent video and review. Thank you. I’m sold on the Tenere as my next bike, and seeing real riders living with them just adds fuel to the fire, can’t wait 🙂
Great pick Matthew! When the good weather comes you're going to really enjoy the T7. Get any accessories now while the demand is not so great. Then you'll be ready for spring. Enjoy! Thanks for watching.
I just bought a DR650, so this bike is forbidden fruit at the moment. That said, I REALLY wish I had one as part of the stable. It fit my frame really well last time I sat in one
Can't go wrong with the DR. I came really close to getting one before I got the Tenere. People who have them swear by em! Enjoy and thanks for watching!!
Thank you. That was a well thought out and impartial review. The Mosko moto system looks practical and durable and super helpful that you can easily remove weight if you slide off. Not sure what I'll be going with when I change bikes in a few years time but the T7 is definitely on my list. Whilst I love the ruggedness of the KTMs and Huskys I think it's almost impossible to beat the Japanese for durability and reliability. 👍
I have been looking at the T700 for my next bike. I currently have a 2017 BMW R1200 GSA and like you I am disappointed with the cost of BMWs service. Thank you for your review!
Thanks for the video. I just ordered this bike but probably won’t receive it till early 2022. Looking forward to equipping it. I too have the R1250GS adventure

Awesome been looking at purchasing the Tenere 700, haven’t seen many reviews of a “higher” mileage one. Good to hear no issues besides normal maintenance. Now if only I can find one for sale……
This was a really cool well-done video. Love it! I ride a V Strom I’ve had it for many years, ready to get a true dual sport. Thank you for the excellent information
Great strait forward review Sir, My best friend is now on a waiting list for this bike and chose it for the same reasons you did, having to ride a lot of highway miles to get to where you want to go off-road to camp (like up to the Redwoods to see me lol). Thanks again for making this video!🍻😎
I've also had a KLR, then sold it and had a couple of road bikes. But now I want to get back on the dirt and this is top of the list. In fact, it's the only bike on my list. KTM's have reliability issues, Honda AT, BMW GS, Triumph Tiger too big, updated KLR needed an updated engine. For these reasons and lots more, looks like I'll be buying a T7! Thanks for your review.
Great video brother!!! Getting a t7 in November 23 if the apocalypse doesn’t hit first 😂subscribed to ya and hope to see more of your beautiful t7 in it’s natural habitat ❤
Thank you for sharing. I thoroughly enjoy my bike and have made modifications every few months. I am surprised you don't have Barkbusters on your bike.
I’ve done the front sprocket change, the windshield upgrade (Puig) lowered it 20mm and the kickstand to match. I’m gonna do the Camel-Adv auxiliary fuel tank and the factory handbags as well. Air hawk is absolutely essential because the seat is a brick after an hour but other than that I have done several 750 mile days and no problems. The only thing I don’t like is how easily this bike is effected by sidewinds but that’s just because I was used to a Bagger. Oh yeah, I have the throttle lock as well. I’m Loving this T7.

Great review. It’s nice to hear real world situations discussed. I’ve been running the TAT with some buddies on my KTM 690R. It dose great in the dirt but not as comfortable on the road. I’m thinking T7 after the TAT is done. Thank you for posting!
Very informative video and I like the way you’ve setup your bike. A few years ago I decided to add a bike that I could use in the trails. I decided on the Ktm 690 enduro r mostly because of its weight but 67hp, good suspension and ground clearance helped too. Now I find myself wanting to check out trails further from home. I’ve been looking at the midsize adventure bikes. The T7 and the Ktm 890 adventure r are the two bikes that interest me most. I like the Yamaha’s simplicity and looks better than the Ktm. All the technology really doesn’t interest me and I look at it like it’s just more stuff to go wrong with the bike. Finding a T7 for sale at a dealership or even used is almost impossible though. The Ktm however is more often available. I’m not looking forward to the extra 100lbs of either bike but better highway manners will be great. The 690 is a fun bike but a highway cruiser it is not
Thanks Mike! I hear ya. They're both good bikes. Seems like more and more middle weights are becoming available. It is a big weight difference but if you're going to do a lot of highway to get where you want to go off road those two are much better on the highway. Seems like there is always a trade off and it does depend on the riding you do. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Really chilled down-to-earth review. Key points for me: the Air Hawk seat, the forward pegs, the cruise control and the 16 tooth front sprocket. The latter might possibly increase the longevity of the chain because the links take a slightly less acute excursion around the sprocket. Really hard to beat that bike for versatility and practicality although I hear the new Tuareg's beginning to make some noise.
G'day Mate just a tip to take the pressure off your arms when standing in sand etc. Over here we use stegpegz made here in Australia im 50 years young and I love these things on my T7 saves armpump good review Mate happy riding:) cheers Billy
Great video! After a 15 year hiatus I’m getting back into riding and have a T7 on order. What crash bars are you using? They look very substantial and exactly what I’m looking for. TIA
Thanks for watching Mike. There Touratech crash bars. I've been down three times with no damage. They've worked great for me. You're going to love the T7. Enjoy!!
I hear ya Robert. I can’t believe how hard it is to get one. I don’t know if it’s the supply chain problems, Covid or both! Hang in there and thanks for watching!
Love the video Waiting to get mine I’m on a waiting list but doing things to get ready I have had two hip replacements and a knee replacement so putting on highway pegs is a must I love your set up and was wondering what brand are your crash bars ??
Thanks for the review. I love mine. What windshield extension are you using? I'm looking to extend mine a bit also. I use the Kaoko throttle lock on mine and it works great.
Wow. I have a drz400. Been riding it for a year. I’m 60 and have ridden on and off over the years. Im wanting to do some longer trips but realized this bike isn’t really suited for highway riding. I’m trying hard to at least keep the bike before I start looking at bikes like yours. I think I need to wear my 400 out a little more but see a Tenere in my future
Thanks for watching John! You have a lot of choices with all the new bikes announced lately. Good time to be looking. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Drz. All depends on what kind of riding you’re going to do and options you need or want. Enjoy the search!
Superb video! Can you also put the list (with links if you have them) in the description of those add-ons you mentioned in these videos. Plan to exchange my Transalp XL650V for the T7. Here in europe alot of Yamaha dealers are out of stock of T7's though.
Thanks for watching Marek! I would but I don’t know how to put the links in. I can tell you the crash bars, skid plate and upper windshield addition came from Touratech. The center stand from SW Motech. The seat pad is an Airhawk. The soft luggage is Mosko Moto and the exhaust is a Domiator from Poland. Thanks again for watching!!
Thank you! I got it from Touratech but I just looked at Amazon and there are a bunch out there much the same but way cheaper. Enjoy your T7. Thanks for watching!!
I enjoyed your review. I have taken about as many laps around the sun as you have and am looking to replace my Multistrada PP with a more versatile bike (the Ducati is too nice to take off road). The T7 seems to be hitting the sweet spot for an all around bike. The biggest knock on it, as with most stock bikes, seems to be the suspension. You mentioned that you put a stiffer spring on it. Was that just the shock spring or did you put springs in the forks as well? Do you have any thoughts of replacing the cartridges and shock with top end units or is the stock stuff sufficient that a pricey upgrade is not in the cards? Also, are you happy with the range you get from the stock tank?
Thanks for watching Ben. I just did the spring. The front is just fine for me. I’ve never had any issues. The range can be an issue but I’ve never had to use the extra I carry. Now is a great time to be looking at a middle weight bike with all the new announcements. Thanks again for the comments!!
Great video, thanks for the information! My buddy is doing research now on this bike and is pretty sure it will be his next purchase. I must say I am starting to look more closely at this bike as well. 😎 I have subscribed to your channel and will share it with my friend as well! Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos. Thanks again, safe rides!
I heard the chain guard is a MUST or in the dirt it can smack/crack the front countershaft sprocket casing and bleed oil. Theres a video on here about it👌
Great video thanks for the info! Few questions if you don’t mind. Did changing the front sprocket affect the MPH read out on the dash? What was the RPM difference between the sprockets at 70? Have you thought about doing the tubeless rear wheel setup?
Thanks Chris! Good question. I changed the sprocket fairly early on so I didn't notice much change on the speedo. Doing 73 on the speedo is really 70 mph. At 70 the RPMs are 5000 to 5100. I haven't given tubeless much thought but it would be nice. I have a hell of a time taking tires on and off at home so I have a huge fear of having to that in the field. Thanks for watching!!
Loved your review of the bike. It was very practical review. I wanted to know in your opinion how much weight someone needs to be able to lift in order to pickup this bike? I am considering this bike but I am afraid that I may not be able to pick it up if I dropped it off-road. I am 5'9" and weigh about 150lb. So assume there is no extra luggage or dead weight. Would you say anyone that can lift 120 lb can manage standing up this bike on their own?
That’s hard to say? 🤔. I’m 71 yrs old 6’1” and able to pick it up. “Big Rock Moto” has a video on several bikes and what it takes to pick them up. The T7 is one in the video. Check it out and maybe it will give you a better idea. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it. 😊
Just ran across your channel , great info !! i have my big orange Adventure bike for sale now and one of these is on top of my list for replacement , i need to switch for a lighter (easier to handle off road) bike and a simpler so maybe i can do some of my own maintenance + more reliable & just lower overall running cost bike...
Off road is plenty of power. The only power on the highway I miss a little is doing a steady 80/85 mph. The T7 will do that but you're tacking pretty high.
@@seisamigos397 hey thanks for the response and feedback i appreciate you taking the time !! , i just have to have an easier bike to maintain and handle off road , lower cost per mile than the ktm & i think this bike is in a league of its own in that way
Marvin, I'm not familiar with the maintenance schedule on the KTM but it's been way less expensive to maintain than my GS 1200 was. Easier to work on too.
Hi, in the manual stays that every 2000 km you have to renew the inner work from the calipers and change the the brake liquid,.and every 4000 km renew the brake cables.. That seems to me not low maintenance. Never heard about that,.atleast at my last Honda bike. And special yammie liquid oil (10w40).... Greetz Alexander
Hello, not sure what manual you are looking at but mine says check the brakes every 6,000 km and the brake fluid is to be changed every two years. You don't have to use yammie oil but they recommend their brand. Thanks for watching!!
Sorry, I've had it for more than 5 yrs and I don't remember the model. It was the least expensive one. It was about $100 US dollars. They had one with a heavy duty bladder for $200 but this one has been just fine. Thanks for watching and the question.
Love the video what year is your t7? I went 2 Yamaha this morning and they're expecting icon blue 2022 anytime ask him if anybody had deposits on any of them he said no said I want it he'll let me know when it comes in or availability to be shipped . soon as I get mine I will park my mt10 for a little bit
I bought mine in June 20. It’s listed as a 2021. Make sure you stay on top of your dealer. I thought I had mine since I put down a $500 deposit in October 2019. Then got screwed with on the release of the first bikes and had to scramble to get mine. You’re gonna love it. It’s a great bike. Enjoy! Thanks for watching
Hi Wood! Not sure what you mean by engine bar? I think you’re talking about about the crash bars. They’re from Touratech. A little pricey but really nice. If you’re talking about the skid plate/bash plate, that came from Touratech also but there are better ones out there. Thanks for watching!!
This is an awesome video - I've watched a few of yours now. Curious - can you put a link for the cheap cruise you got? I bought an Atlas last year for $180 and it has vanished - literally cannot find it anywhere in this house. I don't need anything crazy, but just would love to stretch my hand out every once in awhile.
Thanks for watching Eddy! If you go on to amazon and type "motorcycle cruise control throttle lock" you'll see a bunch of them. The one I got was "Go Cruise" for $19 but there is a lot more there than when I bought mine years ago. There' s some really cool inexpensive ones.
@@seisamigos397 Awesome, thank you! I just ordered it! Which spring did you also go with? I'm right on the cusp between an 85 and 90; I'm about 87-92kg with gear and sometimes carry hard luggage, but soft most of the time
@@seisamigos397 Picked up the 85, going to install this weekend. Also got that Cruise thing and it works way better than expected! Keep up the great content!
That sounds about right! I’ve had mine for a number of years and don’t remember the model? I have a buddy that just bought one and he said it is a dual sport model. Mine is larger but I think pretty much any size makes it much better. Thanks for watching!
I got it at Touratech. A little pricey but we’ll made and I really like it. I think Givi makes something similar also. I’m sure there are other makers too. Hey, thanks for watching and commenting!!
You seem to have a lot of experience with the bike, and pretty well thought out opinions on it. I was however missing something that I am interested in, and I am curious about your thoughts. How about using this bike for longer distance travel with a pillion? Would it still be a good fit for that, or would you think its better to get something 'heavier' (i.e. AT, tiger, 1200/1250gs etc).
From a comfort standpoint for the pillion I think something a little bigger might be better. It will handle a pillion just fine but just not as comfortably as a bigger bike like a GS or Africa Twin, Triumph 1200 or KTM 1290. If you're pillion is only on rare occasions no problem otherwise go bigger. Just my opinion, Thanks for watching!!
I do the oil and filter every 4 but yes the next major service is in 8000 miles at 24k. That will be the 1st valve check. I’ll probably do the chain and sprockets at 20,000 miles. Thanks for watching!
I think that depends on the rider. Might be better to start on something smaller if it’s your first motorcycle. I appreciate your comments. Thanks for watching!
@@apz5817 In terms of type of bike I think it’s great for a first bike. It’s really good both on and off road. I was speaking more to the overall size and weight. 😉
Dan, go to Amazon and type in “go cruise”. Several will come up. The one I got is currently priced at $18.95 but there are several there that look pretty cool. Thanks for watching!!
That’s a couple of great bikes to learn on. I wish I’d started out years ago on a smaller bike. I’d probably be a better off road rider. Thanks for watching! 👍
I don’t know? I’ve had it for years. Don’t remember if they even had sizes back then. I don’t think it’s the largest so medium or small would probably be fine. Thanks for watching!
Much thank Bob 4 the real nice informative review.. I think enough said..I'll go for icon blue.. I was near to hmget one but went by chance with WR450F 2021,not regret, it's fit for my time now,..
Great review, well presented, could you tell me what brand or where to get the break pedal extension, thanks !!!!!
Thank you! I got it from Touratech but I just looked at Amazon and there are a bunch out there much the same but way cheaper. Enjoy your T7. Thanks for watching!!
Great review!
Thanks Mark! Glad you liked it and thanks for watching!!
Brilliant. Thank you
Great video, thank you! I see you do have quick shifter installed. Do you? Does it make sense to have it?
Thanks Gennady but no I don't have a quick shifter on it. Never felt the need. Thanks for watching!
I have subscribed to your channel and will share it with my friend as well!
Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.
Thanks again, safe rides!
I sure like it! It is RT he Unicorn for me. Thanks for watching and the comment!! 👍
I heard the chain guard is a MUST or in the dirt it can smack/crack the front countershaft sprocket casing and bleed oil. Theres a video on here about it👌
Haven’t heard that one. I’ll have to take a look. Thanks!!
Great video. Have you had any wind buffering or wind noise issues?
No it’s been fine but like any bike it doesn’t like a cross wind. But then neither do I! Thanks for watching Adam!!
Havebto commend you on how clean that bike is, looks brand new
Thanks John! I try. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the speedy response! I’m torn between T7 and Africa Twin
Both great bikes!
Which brand is that engine cover pipe? It's covering the stator as well. Liked it.
The engine and crash bars are Touratech. Thanks for watching Pollux!!
@@seisamigos397 Thanks mate.
I’m sure pleased with mine. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@seisamigos397 do you miss the horsepower or highway comfort of the bigger bike though ??
Nice video :) I liked it. Could you share the brand or model of your front foot pegs to relax on highway? Thank you very much
Thanks you for the video 👌 what the modèle of your airhawk ?
@@seisamigos397 thank you much appreciated I can't wait

👍 thanks for watching ale!!
Hola desde el puerto de Santa Maria Cádiz que bonita es tu moto
Gracias!
Hi I very y
Just bought a t7 can you tell me what engine bar you have .great video
Hi Wood! Not sure what you mean by engine bar? I think you’re talking about about the crash bars. They’re from Touratech. A little pricey but really nice. If you’re talking about the skid plate/bash plate, that came from Touratech also but there are better ones out there. Thanks for watching!!
Was going to cheap out and get KLR650. Think I'll spend a little more and get this. Justifiable for the price increase.
You'll be glad you did!
I'm right on the cusp between an 85 and 90; I'm about 87-92kg with gear and sometimes carry hard luggage, but soft most of the time
I got the 90 but it may have been a little overkill. I should of played more with the preload on the original but I'm still happy with it.
@@seisamigos397 Picked up the 85, going to install this weekend. Also got that Cruise thing and it works way better than expected! Keep up the great content!
Thanks Eddy!!
Thanks just perfect
Thanks for watching Paul!!
Good insight. Which air hawk cushion do you recommend for tenere700?
I found my butt hurting after 45mins
That sounds about right! I’ve had mine for a number of years and don’t remember the model? I have a buddy that just bought one and he said it is a dual sport model. Mine is larger but I think pretty much any size makes it much better. Thanks for watching!
Great review sir. It's too bad they're all sold out!
Thanks Matt! I hear ya. This whole supply problem is terrible. Hope it gets straightened out sooner rather than later. Thanks for watching!!
Comfortable? AirHawk seat required. I haven't road a production seat that was comfortable. I own an AirHawk as well.
I hear ya! For the life of me I can’t figure out why the OEM’s can’t make a comfortable seat???? Thanks for watching!
nice, but what has broke and stopped working during that period???
Nothing, knock on wood! Thanks for watching!!
Great tips... where did you buy that little fairing attachment? I think its just what I need...
18,000 miles...My V Strom 1000 is 4 years old and has just past 9,000...yes NINE lol I need to get out more.
Thanks for watching P Cat!!
Think you've been overcharged for your BMW service I don't anywhere near that here in UK
You’re lucky. Thanks for watching!
Trae deslizador de cadena, excelente
Thanks juan!! And thanks for watching!!
Is it due its next service after another 8000 miles? I must watch some more of your videos on this bike!
I do the oil and filter every 4 but yes the next major service is in 8000 miles at 24k. That will be the 1st valve check. I’ll probably do the chain and sprockets at 20,000 miles. Thanks for watching!
@@seisamigos397 20k miles seems like a fair decent amount of milage for a chain and sprockets to go through! What more could you ask eh?!
@@vrum497 I agree!!
Would be easy able to handle it as a first motorcycle? Nice review!
I think that depends on the rider. Might be better to start on something smaller if it’s your first motorcycle. I appreciate your comments. Thanks for watching!
@@seisamigos397 I am not that concerned about the 689 cc that much or hp, as for the type of bike that tenere is. thanks for answering
@@apz5817 In terms of type of bike I think it’s great for a first bike. It’s really good both on and off road. I was speaking more to the overall size and weight. 😉
@@seisamigos397 yes my main concern is the weight of the bike. At least I am 6'2 so on height I am ok for this bike. :)
Did it come with the center stand?
No, that’s an after market SW Motec center stand. Thanks for watching!!
T-700 is a modern day classic .. Yamaha didn’t win the very first Dakar with a standard XT500 by accident .. they know how to make great dirt bikes.

Klr will not burn a drop of olive if you install the thermobob before 10,000 miles
Good to know! Thanks for watching!!
What is your link to the cruise control? Tried the expensive one does not fit.....Thanks
Dan, go to Amazon and type in “go cruise”. Several will come up. The one I got is currently priced at $18.95 but there are several there that look pretty cool. Thanks for watching!!
@@seisamigos397 Thank you...
I recommend the Kaoko throttle lock.
Thanks Michael!
I never had a bike that big, am riding a kmx 125 and a Honda xr200...I hope the T7 will be cheaper in the near future
That’s a couple of great bikes to learn on. I wish I’d started out years ago on a smaller bike. I’d probably be a better off road rider. Thanks for watching! 👍
i want to touring with my lover by tenere700 . how about the back seat would comfortable for long travel?
I think you’d have to put some kind of pad back there. It’s just as hard as the front. A sheepskin or air pad. Thank you for watching!!
