  • The annual Land Day march in Gaza, on 30th March, resulted in the deaths of 17 unarmed protesters. This sparked weekly gatherings on the Israeli border by Gazan protesters demanding their ’right to return’.
Tariq sat down with Israeli journalist Amira Hass, a few days before the Land Day march, to discuss the story behind the headline news that we see about Israel and Palestine. The problems facing Gaza, the political situation in Ramallah, where she lives, and societal issues in Israel.

I can’t imagine life like this. The people responsible for these atrocities need to be brought to justice for the sake of the world.

I'm unclear about the phrase "illegal occupation." According to international law, does this phrase mean the West Bank, Gaza Strip, or all of the former palestinian land? Thank you.

For all her self-promoted good will for palestinians, she needs to (re)read Fanon's books on colonisation as well as some of the speeches by Malcom X, and more recently Norman Finkelstein's work. Maybe that will help her understand that as a representative of the coloniser, she cannot demand palestinians not be violent. As colonised people, palestinians have all the rights in the wolrd to resist BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY their alienation.

Interesting discussion, but inserting extremist, naive, American youths, saying unacceptable comments is a low, dishonetst betrayal of the discussion Tariq..
