    One of his grandsons was singing this song in school. The teacher asked what he was singing and he said a Conway Tweety song, that's how a 5 year old says Twitty. He said Conway was his grandfather and the teacher didn't believe him, so she called his mom and told her what happened. She said the same thing and once again the teacher didn't believe her. Conway happened to be in town that week and took his grandson to school, and asked his grandson where his teacher was. He pointed at her and Conway walked over and said "hello darlin" and after that his grandson could sing whatever he wanted to.

    You're friendly drummer here again, the tempo didn't change, it was a key change which a lot of artist do but typically they change and go up a key but instead he goes down a key which is what makes it so unique!

    • @MrNiccholas
      @MrNiccholas 5 місяців тому +2

      Coming from a musical background of singing mainly old hymns in church, I am very familiar with key changes in-between verses. I'd never thought about it, but you're right! I can't think of many (if any) examples of downward key changes with the exception of Bass singers and that's just so we can show off our low range!

    Legend. Not only one of the very best silky-smooth country crooners to ever hit the charts, but also a stone cold panty dropper. In other comments sections I have referred to him as "the Teddy Pendergrass or Luther Vandross of country." When his songs came on the radio, housewives with their hair in curlers would swoon at the ironing board. He was a KILLA. And yes, this particular song is about the lasting love of a solid marriage, and how he will always want to get busy with his wife for the rest of his life, even long past his ability to even get busy anymore. Now that's love. LOL

  • @maischelledeseriecf6419

    My parents really liked Conway. Mom always laughed at the "curlers in your hair". When Dad played this, he'd grab Mom and dance in the living room. Also, did you notice the chorus change at the end? It went from "all the things A woman loves to hear" to " all the things MY woman loves to hear".
    You should listen to Charlie Pride and Charlie Rich, too.

    Listen.... my husband and I go to Conway Twitty tributes. He does all the things... slow hand... all of it. My husband is a Silverback. ❤ A 6’4” Filipino. The karaoke for Filipinos is so real. He just does Creed and Metallica. 😩

    CT was a heavy smoker who burned his tenor range away. The downward modulations in "Lay You Down" was a way to explore his bass range. They're also fun to sing along to when Conway is on the radio.

    ConwayTwitty was my aunt's neighbor here in Oklahoma and when my mom visited her during her pregnancy with me he "patted your butt" as my mom liked to tell me. So I grew up on his music as a kid in a family who listened almost exclusively to country music. When I was little, under the age od 10, we went to a diner that had a jukebox where I would, EVERY TIME, pick my songs and I'd Love To Lay You Down and his song Tight Fitting Jeans were my first and last picks to ne played when we went in to eat. And Hello Darlin' is awesome.

    I absolutely luv how you refer to your parents when you talk about true luv. Our parents were raised at a different time that ya didn't just walk away when there was an issue ya work it out! I can remember my parents listening to this old school country. And all, though, it's not my first choice I can still listen to it and appreciate the talent! Luv the reaction!

    This is a beautiful love song. The 2 sexiest voices in Country Music are Marty Robbins and Conway Twitty! Conway sang to the Ladies & we still miss & love him. He wrote a lot of great songs. My favorite is "You've never been this far before." Conway had 55 #1 hits. He would of had more, but passed away at 59. Any song of his you will love. In Country music Conway is known as "The best friend a song ever had!" He knew a hit when he wrote or heard it. You also need to listen to the duets Conway did with Loretta Lynn. My favorite " Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man."
    I'm sure many have given you a list of songs to listen to. So l'm not going to. Just know, Conway sang to the ladies. He's the only one in Country Music that could get away with it. Once you listen to more of him, you will understand this statement. I know you have an idea of why if you have read the comments about him.

    Conway Twitty has been favorite male singer for 4 generations of women in my family. Even my 20 year old loves his music. Known as the High Priest of Country music he’s the master of not dirty dirty songs.

    Conway Twitty is a legend. He has the second most number one hits in country music history after George Strait. You should take a deep dive into his music catalog. It's terrific!

    Conway was a "heart throb" for us older Baby Boomers. You gotta hear his "hello Darlin, " which became the "pick up line" for every man in the country.
