Having self confidence is so important, I see so many people say "I make bad music lol" why would anyone check out your music if you actively say its bad Edit: Yall are missing the point. That energy bleeds into your music. If you go in thinking "This will be trash" its going to be trash. Think about why you say that about your music and see what you can do about it
It's true. I've done it in the past myself. He's definitely on point with that, a lot of people just struggling to be confident about repping their music because they don't see their songs as their best, or the finished product yet, but I'd say put them out, rep them, and show the journey. having confidence in yourself can be the biggest weapon you can have when creating art because you need to convince yourself first before you try to convince anyone that you are great at what you do. and believe me you are great at what you do.

I've moved around so much, I aint got roots, I think that's where real self confidence comes from. I'm still making music and I'm never going to stop. Momentum also builds confidence, so I follow the hip hop mantra "and ya don't Stop". The game keeps shifting, but the aim stays the same.

The same way he sais that people are sensible to different things in music, people have different ways of being proud of their work and themselves. Not promoting your work doesn’t mean that you aren’t proud or that you’re dismissive of your work. Being proud of your work is a concept that can appear in so many different ways and actions. Promoting yourself is just one of them.

I’ve lost my way in the new world…when Tyler mentions that folks will put a song up on stories and that’s that; the kids tell me that’s how it’s done now. I used to stand outside the radio station or venue, handing out tapes, trying to befriend dj’s to get my stuff played on college radio. Obviously, not enough kids have tape players for me to do that these days, and I keep getting advice about how I have to figure out the algorithm/get the hashtags right…it’s beyond me. Is it that I could have been fooled into relying on social media?
There is a lot of effort that goes into the creative process, even while in the flow. We need to be kinder to ourselves and more appreciative of our abilities to create! Grateful for this advice/information 🙏💗
Thanks for dropping that support and positivity. I agree wholeheartedly. People, including myself, judge their work because it's not as good as others, or not hitting the mark they want. But any time someone puts into this, they are moving forward on the journey and getting better at something they care about. Doing it when you're not as crazy successful as the artists featured is almost more of a rebellious/inspirational act, cause you're just there for the art and learning process.
