  • The Frontera is getting a little well deserved attention.
Not trying to do a full restoration or anything like that, and i'm not a pro when it comes to paint, but since the car is 30 years old, and its driven all year round, its always a good idea to take care of corrosion and rust while its still not too bad. And remarkably its not too bad 😃
I mainly focused of getting rid of the rust and corrosion, and sealing up everything i could. Now its ready for another 2-3 winters, and its looking decent compared to how it was before. Hopefully it survives a few more years this way, despite the life it had.
And no, its still not rust free, that is impossible on a 30 year old "workhorse", but i certainly won some time 😃
I intentionally left the bent and damaged parts (hood, front left quarterpanel, rusty windscreen wipers, and so on) as they were, because they add to the character and history of the car. Its tough, and its meant to be tough, and i have NO intention of fixing these "beauty scars". All the bends should stay where they were, even if under a new coat of paint👌 this car will never be perfect, and thats fine for me

My initial 2010 F150 Raptor coat came out extra bumpy as my compressor couldn't keep the pressure up in the 70psi range. So I went out and bought urethane thinner and put in a 3/4 inch of it in the hardener cup and mixed it along with the hardener.. Came out way smoother more like a paint... Apparently you can put the Raptor containers in hot water as well to reduce texture/increase flow/coverage.

Ecactly! I also had some polyurethane thinner at hand, but in the end for a finer texture my solution was to spray with an ordinary paint gun, without thinning up the Raptor, but i did it at about 6-7 BARs (~90-100psi), and it came out pretty good aswell. It took longer to spray, but i'm absolutely satisfied with the texture, and the paint gun coped with the thick material (what i thought it wouldnt do)

@@itsNotmimiX awesome, its worth is, looks great with it!! If i remember correctly it took the whole set of raptor liner, as i sprayed it till there was no more to spray 😀 half of it would probably be enough for a full coverage though 😀
