Hi. Great video and nice fishing. I really like these kind of "micro-climate" fishing, because its not all about the biggest fish nor amount, but for pure joy of relaxation. Greetings from Sweden
Truly amazing Perch footage, this is the kind of action that I turn up at the bank for. it's not always about catching, for me, it's about appreciating nature and the excited hunting behaviour of some of our most beautiful predators we have in the UK.
Your dedication to the welfare of the fish when doing the oxygenation test was great to see Chris. Much respect. The blow ups were great to see too. I've always loved top water lure Piking because it's all thrills no matter the size of the fish. And I reckon if you have a smaller version of the frog it would be worthwhile chasing a few of those Perch you caught briefly on camera. I thought it was pretty awesome seeing them follow and try to attack the big lure. It would make for an interesting session and vid too mate....when the temperatures are a bit cooler....😰☺
Man, there are a lot of great fishing channels here on YT, but you, sir, are like the one guy that would simply be a great fishing buddy. Sit down, make myself a coffee and enjoy the content. Sounds like a great morning plan
Nice setup buddy, here in Holland there is also a lot of discussion whether or not you can fish for pike, I have always fished, whether it is hot or cold, if there is not enough oxygen in the water you will see that soon enough and is the fish not active, as you did there is a test and then you often see that it is fine, here it is today at 40 degrees Celsius and then no one is actively fishing, nice video again, until the next one! !
Nice one! I'm still yet to catch a pike on top water lures. I have been frogging for giant snakehead plenty times in Thailand so I know the addiction. Best thing about the snakeheads is that they breathe air so no worrying about the oxygen levels. Big respect to you for taking care of the fish in your videos. I was pike fishing the other day and someone left a jack just lying on the bank 😡scumbags. Tight lines!
Nice fishing Chris and a nice bit of information about Oxygen levels. The testing kit looked very good. Keep um coming Chris you do use some interesting lures Too👍
I like that you touched on oxygenation where many channels don't. Just be mindful of your fish and I don't see any reason why we can't fish apart from in dramatic doubts obviously, but the guys who say pike fishing is for frosts only and slam you really frustrate me.
Great video, thanks for making and showing. Can I ask you, are you using a fine wire trace as was traditional when I was much younger, or do you subscribe to the thick fluorocarbon that seems popular with some folk?
Hi Chris, as a 'Winter' Piker i do have an issue with summer piking (especially with the huge decline in numbers down Southern waterways) but if every angler was like yourself and as educated in water conditions oxygen levels and had common sense not to fish for Pike where not appropriate, then there would be no debate from anyone. I know anglers still today with 3 deadbait rods outs behind buzzers in 30.C
Poatchers Kormorants/ birds Anglers in carp waters Bad angeling practices and inexperience kids Decline of habitat Pike Boats My son says piranhas Zander ?
A lot of pike around me get taken for dinner by all the polish fellas, seen them trying to capture a Swan once also but me and a mate told them to fuck off.
Yes I reckon massive amounts of detergents n fertilisers are having a huge affect on aquatic life ,, the amount of detergents ect used in last few years has been proprosterous , . Definitely pike, barbel n grayling especially are bad in low oxygen, for recovery.,good practice is key.
Iv'e always had the understanding that experts say fish do not have a good memory. One instance i had a big perch on a whip and the line came out of clip, ten minuets later same fish on same bait, and i got all my tackle back. So will pike remember what they have been caught on??.
I don't know what the rules are in the UK but in Canada, certain fish have seasonal times when you can catch & keep them. The water conditions have nothing to do with catching them.
Hi dude I just got into fishing and have bought a cheap ultralight setup I haven't got much to spend at the minute but just wanted to know would it be okay to use mono leader line onto braid? I have 4 6 and 8lb mono I believe my braid works out to be about 10 or 12. The fishing I'm looking to do at the moment would be canal fishing any help would be appreciated thanks
not if your fishing for pike, their teeth are like knives, they will cut straight through. Would be fine for perch or chub. If you like using mono, there are some specialist ones from Savage Gear (regenerator) or Berkley (big game I think) or LMAB, otherwise use wire. Have fun! don't forget your unhooking pliers!
@@mgnewman82 even then Mark very few waters without pike. If they are short on cash to get bit off and lose a lure would cost a lot more than a trace and no risk of leaving a fish with it stuck in its mouth.
why dont you do a live bait float fishing for pike somewhere its the way of fishing that i use a lot and its always exciting to see that float go under
there is nothing wrong with summer fishing. When the fish are released quickly. Winter is cold and windy and the fish are slower. Everyone decides for himself when to fish. I caught more pike in spring and summer than in winter.
Well said.... what half the people commenting on here don't realise is uneaten bait takes oxygen out the water but it doesn't stop then chucking in ten kilo and not caring
good on you for de-barbing your hooks, though really you should fish barbless 100% of the time unless you are planning on keeping your fish for the pot. Barbless hooks are especially essential when fishing for trout. i would recommend you fish barbless singles exclusively for wild brown trout. at least put a PSA at the start of your next trout video advising people to use barbless singles when targeting brown trout. you have a large platform and have certainly influenced more people to get into trout fishing with lures, and thats a great thing, but please tell people not to use barbs or trebles.
Love the new vid mate some wicked footage and some even more wicked fish! I'll give this a try on my local canal once the heatwave passes over! Hopefully I can get some on the bank! Great video as always 😁🎣 (not trying to be a begger or anything but I would absolutely love it if u could check my channel out since I've only just started and it would mean alot if you could) Thanks!

Rapala Subwalk lure is my favourite! Catches so much pike! 💯💯

Great action, loved the footage of the perch hitting it too 👌
That where super footage of pike attacks!
Welldone Chris!!!!
Great video Chris I don't normally fish for pike until late autumn and winter. But given the right conditions might give this a go 👍
Glad to see you use the world famous Chinese takeaway tackle boxes just like me...great vid Chris.👍👍
That's a beautiful rod and reel combo. Compliments from a fisherman in Colorado USA.
Some nice topwater fishing there. Them jack pike may be small but damn do they hit a lure.
Great vids from a Great Fisherman. 👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻

I'm not sure that is the reason for a 'huge' decline kemal. Could list about 10 more reasons before that even came up.
Poatchers
Kormorants/ birds
Anglers in carp waters
Bad angeling practices and inexperience kids
Decline of habitat
Pike
Boats
My son says piranhas
Zander ?
Summer is the best time to fish for pike aslong as there's wind and cloud cover it's fine unless it's 23 degrees and up

Great Attention to fish welfare , and great bit of kit 👍
Very cool, links to the lures please Chris.
Tips for surface fishing for carp on canal?
love your videos but i think you need to try a light fly rod with a top popper for pike action like you will love !
hello friend. tell me what leashes do you use?
Hey awesome video how are you so good at yousing a bat castings set up and casting
Cool vid mate
9:10 not too lazy and pick out the weeds from the bothom too😉 we dont want to give the fish irritation for the rest of the day

It sounds like your fish enjoyed your bait . Back for seconds,

What are the names for those surface zigzag lures? Not the make/model, but do you know what that family of lures is called?
Walk the Dog i think. G
I really love fishing that zigzagging topwater stuff myself. Funny action, amazing bites... what else do you want🤷♀️

Just a quick question, if your reel line is braid, what length of nylon leader would you recommend for lure fishing. Excellent vids by the way👍
Around 18inches but as a lot of people would say, any chance of pike just fish with a trace on.
Why are fish in danger when O2 levels are low though? Like actually, what exactly could go wrong and how would fishing harm the fish at that time?
I’ve been going out to catch perch and still end up catching pike so sometimes u can’t rly help it
you make a decent presenter
When there's a lot of water greenery you get higher do. Why bass love grass in hot hot summer if not out deep
❤️

Pike will take anything if there hungry
Dont be a snow flack mate , just go fishing xx
