George my 12 yo son is calling you out. When you said you had a baby “what else is left to accomplish?” My son replied “reading 26 books this year!” 🤣☠️🤣
I accomplished my 2023 New Year’s resolution which was to declutter and organized my entire house. It was a lot of work but I am SOOO much happier and less stressed out now!
It is SO much work to do this, that’s amazing!!! Back in 2019 I started doing an annual declutter, where I list all the areas of my house (closets, kitchen cabinets, etc.) and go through them at some point in the calendar year to make sure I’m not holding onto old stuff. The first year was so hard but it’s become an easy and routine thing since then and I believe it will save me so much grief in the future with house moves, etc.
I listened to George imitate Dr. John Delony three times before I watched the rest of this episode! 😂 Fun fact: I recently learned that one should stand in the sun for 15 minutes upon waking and delay their first cup of coffee for 90 minutes. It keeps the desire for a second cup at bay and supposedly stops the mid-afternoon slump. Who knew?? Well, besides Dr. John!! I guess it's like the bad habit of hitting the snooze button and putting your body in Sleep Inertia for the next four hours! I had no idea of the repercussions until a few years ago. Love you, Rachel and George! I feel like all of the Ramsey personalities are like family!! Keep impacting the world! And...take your supplements! 😊
Rachel- I just did that this week!! I put 5 things in my Amazon cart- clicked out and went back days later and deleted them all because I thought I didn’t really need them!!! 🎉🎉🎉😂Made me feel so happy!!!
I just found y’all’s channel here and new resolution to watch! I just started my debt snowball again( done it before 3x successfully and it’s sooo great!! However I never seem to make it past there! I stay debt free after for about 6-9 months and then slowly start adding little debt and end up here again! 18,000 in debt ( biggest one yet) I’m 40 so hoping this is my LAST debt snowball I do and I’ll watch to keep momentum to stay out of debt after!!!!
Start your day reading the Bible daily verse!! I won’t let myself play my daily solitaire or anything else before I do that. All glory to God!! Can I get an Amen?
I added up the benefits from my credit card: $300 annual travel credit, $300 car rental insurance coverage, $75 reimbursement for rental damage (rock cracked windshield), $1250 Pay Yourself Back credit on past purchases, $500 Priority Pass lounge membership, $240 DoorDash pass/delivery, $200 Lyft Pink membership, $100 no foreign transaction fees, $100 Global Entry/TSA PreCheck = $2765/year less $550 annual fee = $2215 net benefit. If you travel, it's worth it.
By the time advent begins(the Liturgical New Year), I plan to get rid of clutter and live a SIMPLER life. Spending less time cleaning, more time with the kids! Decluttering even our finances💕 my last medical debt payment is scheduled for Dec 9th 2024, and we will be debt free. And we plan to throw everything at the medical debt, so likely that date will be moved up✅✅🎉🎉
George, I read your book and it was phenomenal. Enjoy your content. However, I took your challenge for the entire year. I went and pursued a debt-free lifestyle. I was debt free within 9 months and stayed that way for a year, until purchasing a home. and I did not use any credit cards for an entire year because I am on a budget and I stick to it even with credit cards now I do not spend mor. I do not use airline miles and I average 4 1/2 to 5% back on every transaction which nets me $2500 a year or so directly into my Schwab investor account which then also gets to grow based on my chosen investments. I kept an open mind like you asked in your book and like you all mentioned many times, and I hope you can keep an open mind when I tell you that I am mathematically coming out ahead. And I feel no more guilt participating in this system than I do watching Disney+ or buying a coffee from Starbucks or shopping at Walmart knowing what these companies stand for and invest their monetary capital into. I would love to actually have a conversation with you one day.
I man I was dating never used his turn signal. Every time he changed lanes, the alarm would go off. He took his new car to the dealer and asked to have the alarm removed! (I am laughing so hard at him telling me this). They said they couldn't. I responded, just use your turn signal before you change lanes, and you will never hear the alarm. It is there to keep you from running off the road or into traffic in the other lane. That alarm saves lives! 😂
I think the guy in the ‘I won’t break my New Year’s resolutions’ men is Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow and Geordi from the TV Star Trek Enterprise! He’s and actor!… showing my age!
My new years resolution was to do a no-buy. I don't have debt outside of FAFSA (still in college atm). I just noticed a bad habit of impulse spending/being too free with my money. I've been irresponsible & havent been tracking my purchases so I decided to start alongside a no-buy challenge to keep my self accountable I show my tracker to my very penny pincher boyfriend lol. As of now (end of january) ive been pretty successful resisting impulse spending! Im being gentle and still allowing myself to shop online without checking out. Excited to get to the point where I dont feel like I even need to do that anymore!🎉
Note: i also had a large refund from scholarships at the beginning of the semester that i actually used directly to pay towards my unsubsidized FAFSA loans even tho im still in school.
Save your wall calendar every year, to compare month to month so as to do better than the year before, keeping score of savings, spending and giving month to month to see if the following year can be improved is my new year vibe
Good morning, I am trying your style of budget and loving it, only third week in, and it's working well. I can't get the every dollar app as I am in Australia. I'm using a blank notebook for each pay and month. Thank you.
2024 goal: actually put money aside for the future, not just the emergency fund. I'm 38 now, if I want to profit from compound interest I better get that train rolling. I actually put aside about 35% of my income last year, but it all went up on renovations and making a large extra payment on the mortgage.
I like Ramsey financial advice for my personal finance. But the dude is a right wing hack, he probably roots for the big corporations destroying the Forrest in fern Gully
thank you, this was an interesting episode! And the airline miles made me think lately about all rewards in stores like wawa or victoria secret or any point system or even starbucks that it costs more if you actually go after the rewards. If you get the treat anyway thats fine, its more like a bonus, but if you continue to shop there just because of points, nope its costing more.
The military thought me three rules about time management. 1. If you are early, you are on time. 2. If you are on time, you are late. 3. If you are late, you are (insert bad word of choice) My children still haven't grasped this concept.
Great episode. We were not allowed to watch "You Can't do that on Television" in the 80s. So funny because we could watch a lot of other stuff, but the parents got wound up about that one show.
I can relate to Rachel. I also had a penguin nightmare after watching that Batman movie! Also had a nightmare that the dad/bad guy from Kindergarten Cop tried to bite my toes off while I slept.
I make a new years resolutions solely for the purpose of having something to give up for lent. It's a terrible joke that I think is funny. In reality I try not to make resolutions, only setting myself up for guilt and disappointment. 🤷♀️
George..... don't feel bad about sharing an appetizer with your wife. We rarely (never) order them as that feels like such a splurge. (And no, we don't mooch off our friends that order them) Edit: my husband and I are both 56yrs and we are on Baby Step #7. It's not like we can't afford them, it just seems like a splurge so I totally understand how you feel about it.
I could never he an appetizer ever again, but my husband absolutely loves them. He did go without them and chicken wings on pizza night while we were working the steps. With the agreement that if he ever wanted an appetizer or wings with pizza after the steps, he could have them. He had wings every week for probably a year straight and then got over it. Haha. He still orders an appetizer most of the time though.
So tired of the general bashing of credit card rewards I used mine for business inventory purchases exclusively in 2033, paid off in full every month Paid 0 dollars in interest, And cleared an easy $2k in cash back rewards Just for using that card, instead of my business debit
I think it's more that the average credit card users will build up debt and end up spending more because of having available credit. Using it the way you do is working the system in a way the lenders don't particularly want, but makes financial sense for you. I have had a credit card since I was 18 and have paid literally zero interest on it 20 years, despite always having a balance. Even though I am sensible, I do notice that I do tend to spend more when I take out my credit card than when I'm using debit or cash.
Same. We followed the steps and were very against credit cards for years. Then we opened our business and we can spend anywhere from $20-50k a month on parts and inventory. We pay it off monthly, $0 balance, and the money back is great. I also use one for our families daily purchases, and the cash back is great for Christmas each year. It obviously would not work well for most people, and I get why they discourage people from using them.
I'm sure that for some people, yeah; absolutely, they can be careless. - But to outright be "CC's bad!" might sound good from a mentality perspective, but not necessarily be the best way to approach your finances in a practical sense. - Literally having a card specifically for gas & groceries, and paying in full the next day; realistically should have no impact on someone's mentality when making purchases, but could yields hundreds (if not more) of dollars in rewards yearly, which can THEN be used to pay down debt, a mortgage, or invest in your retirement - as the Ramsey personalities like to preach. Cause honestly, who says: "I'm using the cash back card, time to only buy filet mignon!" - you still go: "Mmmm, that's too expensive, I'm passing this week" @@sinkintostillness
My money goal is to stick to my budget and make all payments scheduled to my student loan. I found an extra thousand a month and I plan to PAY it... but SPEND it!
Most of these don’t fall under the habit category. I’m sorry guys! A lot of these things are pretty intentional behaviors. This wasn’t my favorite. I’ll just have to say. I’ll keep listening because I absolutely love listening to you guys on Thursday night on my commute home from work. Here is a habit, don’t texting and drive. That’s a habit! 😁👍
George my 12 yo son is calling you out. When you said you had a baby “what else is left to accomplish?” My son replied “reading 26 books this year!” 🤣☠️🤣

I cut up my last credit card just an hour ago. Let’s keep this momentum going! 2024: Year of attacking debt like there’s no tomorrow!!!
I accomplished my 2023 New Year’s resolution which was to declutter and organized my entire house. It was a lot of work but I am SOOO much happier and less stressed out now!
How did you tackle this? Any other goals? 👏🏽
It’s been taking me YEARS to peel the onion 🧅 but I do have to deal with my husband who isn’t convinced about it.
It is SO much work to do this, that’s amazing!!! Love you, Rachel and George! I feel like all of the Ramsey personalities are like family!! Keep impacting the world! And...take your supplements! 😊
Props to you, George, how you can quote Miley Cyrus with a straight face while Rachel’s giggling.
Rachel- I just did that this week!! I put 5 things in my Amazon cart- clicked out and went back days later and deleted them all because I thought I didn’t really need them!!! 🎉🎉🎉😂Made me feel so happy!!!
‘You know what I love? Turn signals’..
George - you made me properly laugh out loud 😂
14:30 😂😂 George had me rolling with the Dr. John impression! You definitely know he’s heard that a few times lol. Much love to all the Ramsey peeps.
Yes!
Stare at the sun for 45 minutes 😂
YESSSS!!! 😂

Same!
I appreciate the 'waiting in Amazon cart' idea. Makes me reconsider needless wanted items. Thanks
Start your day reading the Bible daily verse!! I won’t let myself play my daily solitaire or anything else before I do that. All glory to God!! Can I get an Amen?
Amen!
Amen!
After the first of the year I got a gym membership, then I slipped on ice and fell on my back. I resemble the meme.
Love the comedy mixed in with the money talk. It lightens the mood for sure when talking about money. Love the show
😂😂😂George making impression of Dr Delony 😂😂😂
I added up the benefits from my credit card: $300 annual travel credit, $300 car rental insurance coverage, $75 reimbursement for rental damage (rock cracked windshield), $1250 Pay Yourself Back credit on past purchases, $500 Priority Pass lounge membership, $240 DoorDash pass/delivery, $200 Lyft Pink membership, $100 no foreign transaction fees, $100 Global Entry/TSA PreCheck = $2765/year less $550 annual fee = $2215 net benefit. What card is it? Thank you!

That's such a great timeline! I think I'm going to steal that as my timeline for paying off my car!
8:55 Its nice to have a kid that lives in Australia, we can celebrate the New Year on his time zone and still get to bed on time! 🙂
Loved the Dr. John Delony joke; that was funny. “Thorne, my sponsor” 🤣
George, I read your book and it was phenomenal. Enjoy your content. However, I took your challenge for the entire year. I went and pursued a debt-free lifestyle. Just switched to high yield savings yesterday, thanks to you George!
Heck yeah!!
Left this conversation better thank you ❤
The Dutch eat pancakes for dinner! Totally valid dinner and our kids love it! 😅

"that's just a guy" Y'ALL.
Yes!!! I was thinking the same thing!!

Not me just learning what a high yield savings account is... I should have had one of these all along 🤦♀️
New year and new view! ❤🎉😂 Was a webinar I went to and I liked the rebrand.
Am I the only one thinking about Rachel’s comment on George’s “olive green” jacket?
No. She must be color blind. I have been frantically googling olive green to ensure I am not crazy.
Omg this is just like that one new girl scene. I wonder if she knows she's brown-green colorblind
Same
Save your wall calendar every year, to compare month to month so as to do better than the year before, keeping score of savings, spending and giving month to month to see if the following year can be improved is my new year vibe
11:52 Rachel must love blinker fluid then :)

Lol@ Times Square is Spring weather in March. I’m in Philly. Snow apocalypse usually hits in March.
I've read 10 books so far in January. 😎 Better catch up, George!
I absolutely love you 2! I die laughing the whole time! George you are hysterical, I love your snarkiness! Keep it coming!
2024 goal: actually put money aside for the future, not just the emergency fund. I'm 38 now, if I want to profit from compound interest I better get that train rolling.
I actually put aside about 35% of my income last year, but it all went up on renovations and making a large extra payment on the mortgage.
George is hilarious 😂!!!!!
No one uses blinkers in St Louis and it drives me CRAZY!!!
I wish the Every Dollar App was available in Europe
😂😂😂 “That’s not an actor, that’s just a guy” “a guy from 1992” 😂 THAT’S EDDIE MURPHY!!! 🤣
That’s not Eddie Murphy, my friend 🤣
Canceling Prime was a big resolution for me this year. Even being in BS7 it's easy to fall into lifestyle creep and spending poorly.
George...you had a baby? 😂 6:27
As long as bingeing YT isn't on this list, I should be okay...
Agree with George. Rachel needs to watch Always Sunny and have that dream disappear!!
I purchased the book on Audible? Does it still come with the free trial of Every Dollar?
Yep! Listen for the link at the end of Ch 1, 10, and Conclusion!
King Charles with the glowing skechers 🤣
Oh my goodness,Winston and Rachel’s anniversary is the same day as ours, and I think one of their girls birthday is the same day as mine 😀
Omg I told my husband about you guys and he did also ask why it’s less than an hour 😂😂😂😂
Just listened to this on the Apple Podcast app. I NEED to know why Dave wouldn’t let Rachel watch “FernGully!?” 😂
I like Ramsey financial advice for my personal finance. But the dude is a right wing hack, he probably roots for the big corporations destroying the Forrest in fern Gully
Smart man, I'm still traumatized!
thank you, this was an interesting episode! If you get the treat anyway thats fine, its more like a bonus, but if you continue to shop there just because of points, nope its costing more.
I always thought that "wont break any New years resolutions" Meme templete was Eddy Murphy, lol!
It is!! I was baffled that they didn’t know that!
Pretty sure it’s Levar Burton
On Tuesdays at lunch hour, we (co-workers and I )make your mocktails, delicious!
A no spend month Jan has been a challenge but so worth it, and a few months a year.
Now to lose paced put pounds per month!!
The military thought me three rules about time management.

George didn't recognize Eddie Murphy as "that's not sn actor, that's just some guy" made me laugh.
That’s not Eddie Murphy 😂😂😂 it’s the guy from Reading Rainbow
It's not Eddie Murphy nor LeVar Burton 😂😅
These have to be jokes because WHAT?! 😂@@BoboGumdrop
14:23 best part 😂
I make FUN New Years Resolutions!
More concerts!
Michael Keaton is my fave Batman!!
My money goal for this year is to save enough to replace my current vehicle.
Sometimes I actually plan on breakfast for supper!
Great episode. We were not allowed to watch "You Can't do that on Television" in the 80s. So funny because we could watch a lot of other stuff, but the parents got wound up about that one show.
Michael Keaton Best Batman!!
I can relate to Rachel. I also had a penguin nightmare after watching that Batman movie! Also had a nightmare that the dad/bad guy from Kindergarten Cop tried to bite my toes off while I slept.
I'm starting to like this show as much or dare I say more than the ramsey show
I guess George needs to sell the dogs to make space in the budget. 😊
I didn't realize that Lyndsie was my favorite part of the show until she was gone. I hope she is back soon.
Same! Where did she go?
I make a new years resolutions solely for the purpose of having something to give up for lent. It's a terrible joke that I think is funny. In reality I try not to make resolutions, only setting myself up for guilt and disappointment. 🤷♀️
The british chocolate snack/cookie called a Penguine could really do some Damage here!
I know someone who prays for three days about big purchases!
I don’t like resolutions, Goal Making is better
Where can you open a high yield savings account?
Many protestants that banned Christmas would still celebrate the new year
2024 goal: get out of debt!!! 🎉🎉🎉
To George- What’s left to accomplish?
You could read 26 parenting books so you know how to parent your little one! 😁
My younger brother is traumatized by E.T., because we used to force him to watch it in our childhood 😂
Baseball shirts are called Raglans! Now you know 😂
That guy you said isn’t an actor, is Eddie Murphy 😅😅😅
Levar Burton the Reading Rainbow guy is the actor in the meme.
Having a baby has definitely helped us focus more on our budget and cutting costs.
George..... don't feel bad about sharing an appetizer with your wife. We rarely (never) order them as that feels like such a splurge. (And no, we don't mooch off our friends that order them)

It would be nice if restaurants didn’t price appetizers to be half the price of an entree and only 4 bites of food
I always thought that was Eddie Murphy 😂
you can change the turn signal sound to funny stuff in your tesla

The #1 excuse couples make for not wanting to combine bank accounts: the other is too controlling and I can’t make my own choices.
Eddie Murphy is “not an actor, just a guy” lol so middle Tennessee
My Resolution was to hit the gym 3 times a week. I've been sick for what seems like weeks and haven't been to the gym once 😂
Most of these don’t fall under the habit category. I’m sorry guys! A lot of these things are pretty intentional behaviors. This wasn’t my favorite. I’ll just have to say. George can't pretend as if Boston driving is better
The actor was I believe Eddie Murphy in the meme that “wasn’t” an actor just a regular person tapping his head
Rachel making me want to watch some Batman movies
RACHEL-- Look that in the dream dictionary now
Actor... That was Eddie Murphy
Where do you find a non-brick and mortar high-yield savings account?
Online. Ally bank or C.i.T bank
Hahahah...that wasn't just a guy in Rachel's meme. It is an actor known for Reading Rainbow. LeVar Burton!! @levarburton
Clooney was the best Batman because they were the best movies. Loved those tights :) fan service for everyone, not just for t1t lovers!
When you did nothing wrong, and George calls you out at the beginning of the podcast.🙈?? (At 0:55)
It’s not my fault that I have a “basic white chick” name😂
