Don't be foolish. If the wire is on the ground it will depress into the soil as they walk on it. Even if it didn't, there would be minimal pressure applied to the foot as the grass/ground on either side would support virtually the entire surface of the foot.

Im building a smaller one tomorrow, but i need to raise the "hutch part" because of flooding.
How has this design worked out for you when it comes to taking the rabbits out? I'm looking to build one for my rabbits as a grow out area.
