Connect your Fire TV Stick and the device you want to mirror to the same Wi-Fi network.

Brett, that was one of the best tech device set-up videos I've seen on UA-cam. It is really excellent. As I'm heavily into the Amazon ecosystem I'm primarily using FireTV devices although I also have a Roku at each TV. This isn't really a setup thing, but since we use a variety of computers/phones/tablets/etc. in our house having the ability to cast virtually any device (Mac/PC/Android/iOS) is handy for me but takes an app to do it. There are several that work, but they are usually a few dollars which I gladly pay for the functionality. The one I'm using most right now is called "Air Receiver" but others work, too. It's the functionality I'm after. To mirror a PC you don't need an app. A quick UA-cam search will link to several videos that will show you how.. Maybe Brett could do this sometime. We're new to cord-cutting. I've ordered one fire stick for the upstairs tv to see if it picks up wifi from the basement right below it. My question is: What problems might I face running two firesticks on the upstairs and basement TVs aside from sharing the basement wifi? Will the two systems work independently and well? They would share accounts for services/apps, ie UA-cam, Prime, Sling Blue, etc. Thanks!
Brett, thanks for this great video. So far the only thing I did to my Fire TV stick was to watch prime videos. I would definitely add echo dot to control my Fire TV. Thanks for this tip.
You are welcome. The other thing I learned is you can control the power of your TV and a receiver with just the Fire TV remote which is pretty cool. If you need that it can be adjusted in the settings.

Thanks to your video...I'm now in the process of switching to amazon prime and purchasing a fire TV stick, an alexa and an echo. I'm definitely saving money in the long run. I've tons of hard drive space on my new PC. Can i saw the apps and downloads on the PC instead of the on the fire stick. The PC doesn't have wireless of course but is on a cat 5 cable to the modem.

Good video but even better would be things like: what if you don't choose the default options, can you go back and change them? What if you're setting up an account for somebody outside the USA (and the use of a virtual private network, VPN, to get around geographical restrictions)? Whether "Alexa" needs something extra (and why you don't refer to Alexa by name, nowadays voice activated control is universal and not limited to Apple products)

Yes , as long IF you download the Alexa application directly to your device . and also you need to understand it depends what kind of application you need to do on your device . Some product is not supported on any device like OLD TV without any HDMI port . Even though you capable to download the ALEXA apps but you missing any accessories it might now working and not easy to accessing your device. Check your TV if the unit supported .

You would need another control to use your antenna and change over to the Antenna input

Brett....you said to ask below...so here goes. I have a Panasonic smart tv that is maybe not so smart as new apps cannot be downloaded to it. It is a plasma and works great....but I want to watch Amazon and Netflix, etc. Been watching through a blu ray player that is dead (and never really worked great anyway). I have ATT Uverse cable and like it and want to have the apps I mentioned......so, can the fire stick be used just to watch specific providers like Netflix or Amazon and then go back to Uverse for regular cable? I also have speakers in my ceiling and the sound system is controlled through an amp as is the input from the fiber cable. Are there better options....or should I just go out and buy a new tv that is smarter? Enjoy your pieces and appreciate any suggestions.
Great question. The Fire TV Stick will do exactly that without the need to upgrade your TV. When you plug it into an HDMI port on your TV, you will just need to use the Input button to switch between the Fire TV and the U-verse channels.
The Fire TV can run Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and many other apps.
For audio, if the amp is plugged directly into the TV with a fiber optic cable then when you watch the Fire TB the sound would come out of those as well.

They will both work and both will change on your existing Fire Stick. There is no extra fee for having more devices on your account.

I have a MiTV 4A pro which does not support Dolby Atmos but i have a Soundbar which has Dolby Atmos with HDMi Pass through. Can i connect Firestick to Soundbar and get Dolby ATmos sound on soundbar and video to tv through HDMi (Arc) connected ??

As the Fire Stick is plugged into the wall, can you use the voice assistant on the remote to control smart home products (lights, plugs,etc.) even if the television is off?
I just tested this with the lights in my room and it totally works! TV the was off and stayed off. If you ask for something and it needs to display something it will turn on the TV and play it.

Hello, can I ask one question about this Fire Stick (Internal memory is 5.35 GB, available about 4.60GB due to system applications)!
I bought the device, I had 4.63GB available, I didn't install anything, just turned it on,turn off, the next day I turn on the Fire Stick, I had about 3.80GB of available memory, where did those 0.80GB disappear if I didn't install anything?
I did a Factory reset today, installed a couple of applications, I had 4.25GB available as it should be, I put Fire Stick on sleep mode, come back after 2 hours look at the memory I have 3.65GB available, where is now 0.60GB of memory?
What's worse, I don't know what it's about, terribly!
