Cakeytoes Me: I can't draw people, or the likeness of someone. Them:oh but is it that difficult you draw kinda cartoony, it shouldn't be that difficult right? Come on just give it a try. Me: (slowly dieing inside) 😐😑😒
I had an uncle who asked for one of my drawings for free. I was very young and just starting out on my artistic career, but I knew to value my skills and time. So I said “no” and that he’d have to pay for it. My grandmother found out about what I’d said and was livid. “You can’t charge family for your art!” she yelled. So I asked her, if I was a lawyer, would it be okay for family to get me to fight a case in court for them for free. If I was a doctor, would she want me to treat our entire family’s colds and flu and surgery for free. And if not- then why was my career as an artist not seen in the same way, with my time and effort being worth actual dollar amounts. She had nothing to say to that and never made any negative comments about my career choice after.
I agree with your grandmother. Family, unless you didn't like or feel close to your uncle, are special treatment. I had a grandfather that was a professional painter. My other grandfather built furniture. Guess what? They made things and gave it to family for free, because of love. You could have at least said you will do one free and any others will be charged.
Nathan Melander : I give my art works to friends and family as gifts, too. The key difference is that it is my choice to do it, on whatever occasion it happens to be. You do not go up to someone and demand a gift. A gift is a representation of someone's feelings towards another. I also am not obligated to give any of my art works to anyone (family/friend/stranger), because they are mine. In the same way that you don't pop into your lawyer uncle's office without notice and demand that he handle your civil lawsuit; or drop into a clinic that your aunt works at and say that you should get free treatment.... If they chose to do something for you, that would be their choice. You demanding that they do you a favour for free is disgusting behaviour. It shouldn't be any different just because someone works in a creative industry rather than a corporate industry.
Whenever people at school at me to draw them I say yes and then draw then the sloppiest possible way. "There you go. It's kinda abstract. Really brings out your true self." "Haha, funny. No, but like, draw me for real." "Are you suggesting Expressionism isn't real art? What about Edvard Munch? Ernst Ludwig Kircher? Emil Nolde? Gabriele Munter?" "Um, erg, you know what, just forget it." "That's what thought." smh...
Everybody tells me I'm selfish and that I should accept a compliment "If you really love art you should want to do it for free" also I'm a sketch artist and I'm not payed to do this, I do it for me, so when people ask to take MY personal fun drawing time it realllyyy rubs me the wrong way >_< I have a hard time not feeling bad about it, but it really doesn't feel like a compliment
Lyd heck That's totally normal, you don't have to feel bad.As you said,it's not like because someone tell you to do smth, you automatically have to do it. X slave. #Libre arbitre
Ella Orlando omg that’s me except if their my good friend my bff has been my bff since I was born I’m her cousin and when I found out she was going to my school I was so happy so I would defiantly make a free drawing for her
I work ten hour days at a daycare and my Dad always asks me when I’m going to get a real job and how can I be tired when I come home from work because all I do is play with babies all day.
Did your dad take care of you at all, babies take so much work. Don't mean to be negative about your father but I wonder if he'd say the same to your mother's face lol
kupotenshi Oh he says it in front of my Mom. My Mom did pretty much everything when it came to raising my brother and I. Working at a daycare is not only physically exhausting but sooo mentally exhausting.
Alyssa Stack That is what I was supposed to say about it being both mentally and physically hard. I would say it is the hardest and most exhausting job I ever had. Because there is a bit of everything. One often has to do some heavy lifts, work in a noisy environment, tackle both children and their parents and want them all to be happy and then there often is paper work and planning. There is stressful times and sometimes very slooooow times as well. So seeing day care as "not a real job" is something I can't understand. Then I would just say (to whoever thinks like that): "Why don't you try it for a week or so? 😁 and then we can talk." it is a nice job but still VERY hard. You are worth respect for it. 👍😄
As a cosplayer who spend over one hundred hours on the costumes I show my parents friends and get "Can you make a Halloween costume for me" SURE IF YOU PAY ME THE TIME ITS ACTUALLY WORTH
I'm not a cosplayer but I do a lot of art especially when it comes to manga and I personally really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it. Hearing that people expect this out of you really ticks me off. I really like your profile picture btw:)
ook? and i am back to my usually lot better paying then most of your forced into, useless, nature destroying jobs hobby and i only do every day what i Love, which i born for :3
I'm good with both. But even if she were to say "Goodbye" with the same hook, I feel like people would still get it wrong. That's the internet for ya though, so I say keep the original. Totally nothing wrong with it.
THE TATTOO REQUESTS BOILS MY BLOOD. In high school the most annoying question whenever I would sketch is, "is that supposed to be you?" SURE, because I LOVE drawing myself.
Omg I was once on vacation, and there is this one girl who came up to me while I was drawing. She asked to see my sketchbook, and...I agreed. And I had a few drawings of my oc and she was like omg is that you, you draw yourself a lot, and she found a few other drawings of my other OC and she was like, oh so that's your boyfriend isn't he he is so cute.
I always get the question "Did you draw this?" or "Are you drawing?" And I'm like NO, I JUST PRINTED IT OUT TO BE ABLE TO PRETEND DOING THIS AND MY PENCILS ARE JUST LAYING HERE FOR FUN THANK YOU GOODBYE
Jedzia Heen I get this all day long: You took all these photos yourself? Yes Is that Amsterdam? Sure is. Did you go there? Nope, simply put my camera in the mail and hoped it would return to me with some good stuff on the memory card!
I actually try my best to keep what i do to myself. When people irl find out i make videos their immediate response is "and you make money from that? how is that a job" its so annoying
I'm studying translation, which is a pretty normal job, right? Well, once a guy said that translators shouldn't get paid because if they really are good they don't have to make an effort to translate, since they are fluent in both languages. Turns out you should only get paid if your job is hard to do... (Also, that's not how it works, it is hard)
The guy that said that should just start translating for everyone in every language for free. After all...it's just SO SO easy!!!! Years and years and years of studying and practicing and communicating can't possibly cost anything or mean you were putting forth effort!!!! Also languages are always word for word translations without any cultural differences, word order changes, slang, and context complications....so it's just so so so easy!!! Okay, I'm done. lol.
Wow, you'd think the guy at least get it into his head that you should be paid for your TIME at the very LEAST?! But no, your time is free too? okay, bye. That guy is ridiculous.
Wait wait wait - someone asked *you* to pay *them* to make a painting for *them*???? Like they want you to give them a painting AND free money??? I can’t even fathom what it must be like to have a brain like that. I’m glad you’re finding the humor in it though! Love you Jamie! ❤️
Piano player for 15 years: "Will you teach me??? I'll pay you" (not a real piano teacher wage tho) "Will you write me a song? :0" honey I can barely write myself a song "That sounds nothing like the original" that's why it's a cover I made by ear and not an exact rendition from sheet music
Whenever I paint or draw someone, everybody asks “ Who is that?” And it is soo annoying, because I tell them EVERY SINGLE TIME that it is an original character that I created in my mind.
Ohhhh entitled people. Aren't they such a joy? 😑 In all honesty, I can't believe that at your level of artistic capabilities people STILL don't see your art as your livelihood/profession. That's insane, Jamie! ☹️
What a great video. Sadly, it's the same for many occupations. My son works in IT, I can't tell you how many people drop off their broken computers or ask him to stop by to see what their problem is. I work in computers so it's assumed I know every program out there! I'm glad I'm not a doctor :-)
U're just the sweetest person to not take those requests so seriously. Coz I know how it feels as a graphic designer, for ppl to want logos for free hahahha I mean it's not like it's going to be the face of your company or anything xD
AMEN! Art is a JOB. I've had people ask me if my artwork was just a hobby, when I was going to get a real job, etc. etc. I think creativity just doesn't make sense to them, so it's hard for them to understand the insane amount of work behind what they see in a finished piece. Thanks for sharing! :)
One time this girl in seventh grade asked me to draw her a character from five nights of Freddy, free of charge. And I accepted because I didn’t have friends and thought she would be my friend if I did. But she wanted me to draw it in one day when I had school work to finish, a lot by the way. So I drew her character and gave it to her the next day really proud btw, and this was her reaction: “ Um--but it doesn’t look like how I wanted it to look. You can keep it and draw me another one tomorrow.” 😑
The most annoying question I got asked for the past three years is, "Why do you wait for the job you want? You know you are not going to get it. Stop fooling around." Guess what? I got it.
*HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SAAAAAMMMEEEEE IM SO MAD* >:(
I thought she was saying "Spice, Spice, Spice". All this time I've been wanting to literally ask what is "spice spice spice"? Did I miss some inside thing??? lol
Sometimes I wish people didn't know I was an artist. My husband's mom constantly wants me to do stuff for her for free or for very little pay and she takes advantage of my skills. I tend not to share my art publicly online because people want me to make them things for free and then pay to ship it to them too. They think I sit around all day and draw for fun anyways. It's an awkward spot to be in. I completely understand.
Girl, I'm so proud that you continue to paint. At work when reformatting a schedule, my coworker said "You waste so much time making it pretty" when in fact it acted as a marketing document that improved the program.
As someone who studies Theatre and Performance as a degree, I completely understand. I hate the question: 'oh, so what do you study?' because as soon as they hear the answer it's just '...ohhh, reeaallyyy? ... so not a real degree then!' or something along those lines... and yet I will finish with a BA and, yes my work is hard and I have to actually do stuff in order to pass.
Scorch TheRedhead i am a music performance major and I totally relate. Someone once told me “make sure you also get a business degree because if you don’t, you cant find work and you’re just going to be playing music at coffee shops”. Ahaha, But its always interesting how people feel its their right to to have a say in someone else’s life decisions
"Oh you have only art courses, that doesn't seem hard, you don't have math, chemistry, biology, and PHYSICS!" "no, but I do have to do a lot of project and make them look stunning..." "Pfft! Please that is nothing all you have to do is draw and make stuff!" "oh yeah! all I have to do is make a giant 3D grand piano, and design a t-shirt logo, and sculpt and figurine, and work with oil paint... yeah not that hard!"
I just wanted to pop in and say that the amount you've grown from the first videos I saw of you is absolutely inspirational. You're so much more confident and passionate and it's so, so beautiful to see. You're such an inspiration to me x
This video is too relatable :/ While I was an Intern I had someone from a different department in the organization ask me what exactly the communications department does & when I explained it all they then proceeded tell me exactly how I didn't know what the communication department does and why having a communications department in any organization is a waste of time and resources and how I wasted 3 years studying
Fellow communications student / future professional / current intern here. I feel you. I love how people think it's all about making Facebook posts and how they'd be totally capable of doing it. It's frustrating. Have to have a lot of zen not to punch people some times...
I have a certain friend that is constantly asking me to draw stuff for her, it’s driving me mad On the other hand, my mum asked me to make something for my grandparents wedding anniversary. I’m cool with that, it’s a special occasion 😂
jesus, why do so many people think they can get away with asking an artist to work for free?! i mean, if these are the same people that expect to get paid to do unskilled labor, why should an artist who's done years and years of practice and/or schooling to perfect their skill to work for free?!?! also i'm not really an artist, i'm just crafty, but my personal favorite remark is when they see my work and go "omg you're so talented!!" and all i can say is "no i'm not! i literally just learned by watching a youtube video! i'm not that special lol"
You are so nice!!!!! I would have given them a piece of my mind especially the UA-camr who was trying to make you pay for a painting you were going to make for free
"Oh you're studying psychology, can you read my fortune?" Sometimes I'm genuinely concerned when people ask this crap. Brilliant shady video, Jamie, I loved it!! XD
Someone at my school, who bullies me asked me for a painting as I'm known as the "art kid" and then said it's free right because it's not like a proper painting
There are loads of lovely people around. In my experience it's just too easy to let the crappy ones make more of a difference in our lives than they should. Keep going with your painting and if you need help to deal with the bully, insist that your school does just that. Best Wishes. Xx
I love the byes byes byes byes at the end of your videos it's so cute 😻❤️ P.s your voice is so soothing ❤️ P.p.s when someone says can you draw me ooh draw me 😂 {EDIT} Yay thanks for 16 likes (I've never gotten any likes 😂) x
“Can you draw my friends dog that just died? She’s really sad” “Can you draw a portrait of my family?” “I don’t have a lot of money, so will €10 do for a drawing that’s going to take 7 hours? I’ll pick it up myself so you don’t have to pay shipping” “Can you draw this picture of my boyfriend? I know you’re not like professional or anything but your good, and you don’t charge anything do you?” I stopped doing art for other people. I rarely do it at all now, and when I do, I do it for myself and things I want to draw
My mom actually commissioned a painting of my cat when he passed away and surprised me with it. She paid $80 for it, but it’s value to me is so much more than that. One of my favorite gifts ever.
when a client orders a shoot of 95 products in two different settings and then after a month of 12 hour work days, sleepless nights and constant "are you done yet? when are you gonna be done? we need you to be done?" calls, just when you're finished with the first set of pictures they call you and tell you they decided on not using the first set of pictures and since they don't want them anymore they don't think they should pay you for it. -.- i swear to god some people...
I relate so much omg 😂 (other than the fact that art isn’t my job, I’m 16 😅). But the fact that people just expect you to paint/draw something for them without ANY background knowledge of how long and how much work it actually it, it’s SOOOOO ANNOYING 🙄. Stay strong Jamie 😂💕
I’ve only had the courage to do 5 commissions for some people I used to know from college because the thought of doing a painting for a stranger TERRIFIES ME! WHAT IF THEY’RE MEAN AND DIFFICULT NONONOOOOO
I have had people ask me for commisions a few times but i don't even know how i would approach something like that? What if if they don't like it? What if i start hating it midway?? aaaaahhh
Helvetica09 I’ve been lucky with my.. clients? I guess they’re clients😂 they’ve all been very patient with me and my work because I can take a long time😂 For a start I just used to do a rough copy in my sketch book and then take it to canvas when I felt it looked right. And if they don’t like it they can suggest changes, I’ve never had someone not pay for my work or be too challenging. Just make sure you take progress pictures for the first few clients at least (a sketch photo and then maybe every few hours of progress) to show them how it’s going and see if they like where it’s heading so it’s easier to make changes and you’re not an anxious mess when it gets to the finished product 😂
Honestly this is so annoying when people do this The most annoying things are when people ask them to do something for free or that artists are lazy or that art block Isn’t a thing
you are a real artist and youre amazing! I'm sorry that you have to face this.. as someone who dabbles in art sometimes I have faced some of these comments and its made me uncomfortable and shy away from art, but its helped me respect artists so much more. You're doing an amazing job. I enjoy content
Nooooo don't listen to them!! I'll never get tired of your "byes"!!!!! 😍 People just want to make trouble. That's one of the things you're known for! It's the cutest!😋😊😘
The only people that have asked me to draw something for free was my friends so, I am good in that aspect. But I have been told multiple times, "Digital art is not real art!" And, "Digital art is way easier than traditional!" And the all powerful, "Digital art is cheating!"... yaaaa.... being an artist is hard xD
I love to crochet and have an Etsy shop where I sell my items. Friends and family often insist that I should make them something for free or less than my prices on Etsy when I barely make money on the items I sell in the first place. I take that moment to explain the amount of materials and time it takes to create my items and sometimes even then they still want something for an unreasonable price. I once had someone ask if they ordered 20 of an item that costs $12 each if they could have it for $3. It's so frustrating when people don't take into account that you also have expenses to pay.
I totally understand... and most of all the time it takes to make things well is even more costly. I usually just give in and make the items but then get frustrated when I realize I am losing money on a project. I'm working on getting better at that! Your video reminded me that those of us in the art world understand :)
I remember when I was little I said to my parents that I wanted to be an artist when I grow up and they always said that I won't be good enough and being an artist is not a real job and that I will never have a future as an artist, that I will depend on others for money Shame on them I'm in art school and I'm going to keep making art and is going to be my job
Ohhhh yeah!! Best form of revenge! My parents always told me I couldn’t get a career from tv and movies (cause I used to watch it a lot) and haha, jokes on them! I’m getting into film school
One stupid thing that gets said to me is "I told my close friend that you want to be a forensic scientist as wanting to be a chef is to disappointing"😂
this had me dead jamie i can't believe people really asked you some of this, you're so good to be willing to have conversations after you get asked these
Oh man these ARE annoying! I can relate! Once I was flipping through my sketchbook and my friends were like, “Can have have that one? Ooo wait no can I have this one too? Can you do a drawing of my cat?!” Hehe also, love ya! Keep up the great work!
Nooo!! I love the byes!!! 😭 dont change it. Its so you! And its so cute and adorable! It is one of the things that I love when I watch your videos. Such a great way to end videos. Everyone else has lame ones by just saying "see you later" or stuff close to that. Yours is different and cool. Keep being awesome!
You're a great sport and I can imagine how annoying this must be. I think it's great that you make such nice lemonade for us out of these lemons. 🍋🍋🍋 (maybe a new motive: lemons and kitties....) thank you, sweet Jamie
omg, I love you so so so so much! You are my favorite youtuber of all time, and you're just so inspiring. I love love LOVE you, your voice, your videos, your art, your stories, your personality--- you just make me so happy. I love you Jamie❤️❤️❤️
I read a ton so people are always presuming that I'm super smart and asking me to give them homework and give them answers in class when actually I only get meh grades because I study for ages, I'm not naturally brainy XD
The “byes byes byes” is so cute!! If you don’t want to keep it, I’m okay with that 🙈 Naturally, it’s your channel and it’s up to you haha (idk how to word this wear it doesn’t sound rude or like I’m trying to make you do stuff with a channel that not mine, sorry if it’s come across like that 🙈)
I love art I don’t usually ask requests like portraits and such I just like the artists style and you are so talented and I know painting isn’t easy lol it’s so hard lol , people should be respectful and honestly just be you :) .
I don’t care how long art can take I don’t care if it takes 3 seconds it is still worth a lot and you should NEVER beg an artist to make you free art. I had a lot of people tell me why I should do Free art and I always tell these people the same exact thing “Would you go to work for free and not get paid, is No then why would I do free art?”. I even had people tell me that I shouldn’t be charging people cause I’m to young, But I don’t let those words bother me. Remember Artist spend time and effort putting details or style into there art!
The one I get the most is "oh that's nice, cant wait to see it when its finished". This specific one actually helped me think about and actually take strides in the quality of my work "Yeah, but why would I want to buy that" -it changed my art style for the better.
As an artist I rarely get annoyed. I like getting asked to draw people. It's practice.i know some people are short on time but if it helps you grow and you can find time then there's no reason not to
You’ve definitely got your thick skin grown. Been watching now for a few years, and I’ve always been a supporter of underdogs. You’ve shared your insecurities before, and I found that very brave. Bullies come in all shapes, and sizes. Many of the questions you share in this video are from people that just don’t get it. They’re so involved in themselves they can’t see anyone else’s point of view, so they ask silly questions which they think are reasonable. I love seeing your strength keep up the great work.
I just drew fourteen digital shaded pictures of characters at a masquerade ball for someone... for free. I can't believe I accepted that request. Maybe it's because the people who ask me are my friends. err they're friends with my art
I love this video, also I’ve been watching you for a looong long time and I’m so proud of you growing as a person and as an artist! Love your vidoes and how you’ve been coming out of your shell, you’re the bomb!
LOL honestly laughed so much during this video XD I'm so proud of you just having such a good attitude about these things and seeing them as an opportunity to share your passions. You've grown so much since when I first subscribed to you and I'm so proud of all the success that you've had!! You truly do deserve it!!
When I was 14 I was into nail art and I was pretty good. My mom would always bring her friends over and ask me to do it. I didn't really want to do it so I said I'll do it for 10 dollars each. My mom got mad at me said I needed to be nicer to people. But it was fair. I was using my own nail polishes and those things are expensive. And the time she would always bring 5 or more people. My mom was exploiting me to look good.
Xiko Emerald Fr! When selling things, people usually do t think about the cost of the supplies. I paint (not professionally) and I sell them to people I know and they’re always saying it costs too much but like DUDE. PAINT IS EXPENSIVE 😂😂
Your videos make me smile so much xD You see, when I was first starting out with art I made my friends and family free art, thinking "Oh, ill just practice with them and if they post it or whatever more people will find me to practice on." SO BAD. Now everyone expects me to do it for free for them. xD
The "not a real job" thing is so real for some many different kinds of artists. I study theatre as well as creative writing because those are the things I'm passionate about but definitely have been told to get a real job and asked (sarcastically) what in the world I plan to do with those majors.
I predict this video will go viral. And if it does, will you paint my house?
lol I love you
Thanks, and ditto. PS, I'm thinking seafoam.
TheGadgetPanda Bahahah!!!!
haha
TheGadgetPanda this is absolutely the best 😂😂
“Is it for free?”- “yeah, it’s free, plus $500 tax.”

“Oh you draw? Draw me” “Can you draw me can you draw me”
Cakeytoes I hate that SO much...

Them:oh but is it that difficult you draw kinda cartoony, it shouldn't be that difficult right? Come on just give it a try.
Me: (slowly dieing inside) 😐😑😒
Me: Can I draw you?
Person: Uhhhhh...
It gets so freaking annoying...
I start with the eyes on my drawings and people always look over my shoulder and ask: What is that? Or say: I don't know what you are drawing...
I had an uncle who asked for one of my drawings for free. I was very young and just starting out on my artistic career, but I knew to value my skills and time. Oh yeah and James over there couldn’t hear it, can you repeat?
I agree with your grandmother. Family, unless you didn't like or feel close to your uncle, are special treatment. I had a grandfather that was a professional painter. That's how to deal with em
“Since you’re doing it for free...” THIS! Bring the sass! X
+Gary C I love you Gary 💕
oh my god this was SO. TRUE. and I have gotten that exact ‘as a tutorial this speedpaint sucks’ comment. you are great.
I love sassy Jamie! Some people are so entitled it’s unreal
MinistressForMagic Sassy Jamie is amazing!! 💕👌🏻
Whenever people at school at me to draw them I say yes and then draw then the sloppiest possible way.

I work ten hour days at a daycare and my Dad always asks me when I’m going to get a real job and how can I be tired when I come home from work because all I do is play with babies all day.
Haha 😂 insane! Working at a daycare can be terribly exhausting! To me it was the high sound levels that got me 😩
"only playing with babies" bwahaha 😂
Did your dad take care of you at all, babies take so much work. Don't mean to be negative about your father but I wonder if he'd say the same to your mother's face lol
kupotenshi Oh he says it in front of my Mom. My Mom did pretty much everything when it came to raising my brother and I. Working at a daycare is not only physically exhausting but sooo mentally exhausting.

Yeah had this as well, or they are willing to buy the fabric but not your time.
Lol yeah
@@SwediCandy AND THAN THEY DONT PAY YOU
I'm not a cosplayer but I do a lot of art especially when it comes to manga and I personally really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it. Hearing that people expect this out of you really ticks me off. I really like your profile picture btw:)
Seriously though....you seem like a SUPER fun person to just paint and have tea with
+tulips4cho this comment is just lovely :’) I would absolutely adore to paint and have tea with you
@@JamieJo Im now an art minor :)
"Can you make a welcome home poster? I'd do it myself but I have _actual_ work." 😒
Oh my god, that made me so agitated.
ook? and i am back to my usually lot better paying then most of your forced into, useless, nature destroying jobs hobby and i only do every day what i Love, which i born for :3
keep the byes byes byes jamie, it's unique to you and makes you stand out.
Marc Jason Ali I agree!!😁
I knew I wasn't the only one!
I'm good with both. But even if she were to say "Goodbye" with the same hook, I feel like people would still get it wrong. That's the internet for ya though, so I say keep the original. Totally nothing wrong with it.
I knew what she was saying the first time I heard it... Maybe people who aren't native English speakers mishear it?
THE TATTOO REQUESTS BOILS MY BLOOD.
In high school the most annoying question whenever I would sketch is, "is that supposed to be you?" SURE, because I LOVE drawing myself.
Omg I was once on vacation, and there is this one girl who came up to me while I was drawing. She asked to see my sketchbook, and...I agreed. And I had a few drawings of my oc and she was like omg is that you, you draw yourself a lot, and she found a few other drawings of my other OC and she was like, oh so that's your boyfriend isn't he he is so cute.
I got that too all the time.
I always get the question "Did you draw this?" or "Are you drawing?" And I'm like
NO, I JUST PRINTED IT OUT TO BE ABLE TO PRETEND DOING THIS AND MY PENCILS ARE JUST LAYING HERE FOR FUN THANK YOU GOODBYE
Jedzia Heen i love ur profile pic
Preacchhh
the problem is that if you actually said that, they would say "I knew it!" =_=
Jedzia Heen I get this all day long:
You took all these photos yourself?
Yes
Is that Amsterdam?
+Neus Palou some people are just silly silly
The guy that said that should just start translating for everyone in every language for free. After all...it's just SO SO easy!!!! Years and years and years of studying and practicing and communicating can't possibly cost anything or mean you were putting forth effort!!!! Also languages are always word for word translations without any cultural differences, word order changes, slang, and context complications....so it's just so so so easy!!!
Okay, I'm done. lol.
Wow, you'd think the guy at least get it into his head that you should be paid for your TIME at the very LEAST?! But no, your time is free too? okay, bye. That guy is ridiculous.
I absolutely love this
CypherDen omg it's cypher
CypherDen wow you watch jamie
°0° CypherDen? ..~shocked~
✨ °[]°
Can you draw me for free? 😂
Wait wait wait - someone asked *you* to pay *them* to make a painting for *them*???? Like they want you to give them a painting AND free money??? I can’t even fathom what it must be like to have a brain like that. I’m glad you’re finding the humor in it though! Love you Jamie! ❤️
but think of the exposure! 😂😂😂
*lol*
How to ACTUALLY treat an artist
•treat them with respect
•if you want them to make you art then give them money
•do NOT disrespect their craft
Piano player for 15 years:
"Will you teach me??? I'll pay you" (not a real piano teacher wage tho)
"Will you write me a song? :0" honey I can barely write myself a song
"That sounds nothing like the original" that's why it's a cover I made by ear and not an exact rendition from sheet music
Whenever I paint or draw someone, everybody asks “ Who is that?” And it is soo annoying, because I tell them EVERY SINGLE TIME that it is an original character that I created in my mind.
+ cen lilith
SAME! My family has finally stropped asking that, but I still get it from other people sometimes.
The question that annoys me most is: “oh my god you can draw?! You’re so talented! Will you draw me?”
Amy McGregor Yesssss!!!!!!
I always go: "Sure, what's your price range?" It stops idiots 100% of the time.
November Funk I’ll definitely be using that!!
When they say "Can you draw me?"
I go "Yes" and continue with my drawing and they're so confused until I say "Oh I said I Can, didn't say I would ."
Amy McGregor omg yes
U're just the sweetest person to not take those requests so seriously. Coz I know how it feels as a graphic designer, for ppl to want logos for free hahahha I mean it's not like it's going to be the face of your company or anything xD
This comment is trippy
Sassy Jamie is outstanding
Rachel Andrews, I've never loved her more! XD
+YPGC0 0 awww awww awe this makes my heart hurt because I’ve literally had something just like that happen to me ;_;
The most annoying question I got asked for the past three years is, "Why do you wait for the job you want? You know you are not going to get it. Stop fooling around."
Guess what? I got it.
Ivonna Dew Wow
Inspiring *-*
Well,I'm glad-I mean, that's GREAT that you can do the job that you want
Amen. Shove _that_ in their faces!
How does Jamie not have a million subscribers already?
Right?!
IAmWoat I KNOW RIGHT
Wait what..*checks sub count*....HOW DOES THIS PRECIOUS BALL OF SUNSHINE NOT HAVE 1000000 MIL
Because she does it for free... Right?
IAmWoat seriously though!! It doesn't make any sense. She's SO talented!!
Jamie is showing her sassy side, and I'm here for it!! Love you Jamie. You are amazing and I love your paintings.
*omg just watching this makes me mad*
Valaeth Artist *saaaaaaame*
I know right! Like where is the respect for artists' work and time, effort and feelings?!
Same!!
Valaeth Artist Right?? It's infuriating how common it is. Anybody who is any type of artist gets this B.S. on a regular basis. Lol
*HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SAAAAAMMMEEEEE IM SO MAD* >:(
I love the byes byes byes. Mainly because it sounds like you say "bajs bajs bajs" where bajs means poop in Swedish.
Nellie Metsäär Hahah I think about it everytime! 😂😊
I thought she was saying "Spice, Spice, Spice". All this time I've been wanting to literally ask what is "spice spice spice"? Did I miss some inside thing??? lol
this entire time I thought she was saying buzz buzz buzz
Luvjeordie Studios I thought she was saying Spice too!
I loved this! I do sewing tutorials and also make things to sell sometimes and have definitely gotten some crazy requests and comments along the way.
"Oh you have only art courses, that doesn't seem hard, you don't have math, chemistry, biology, and PHYSICS!"
"no, but I do have to do a lot of project and make them look stunning..."
"Pfft! Please that is nothing all you have to do is draw and make stuff!"
"oh yeah! all I have to do is make a giant 3D grand piano, and design a t-shirt logo, and sculpt and figurine, and work with oil paint... yeah not that hard!"
+Mayday Arts I can relate so much to this haha
One day computers will be able to do all the science and math related stuff and then artists will be appreciated.
"Do you get high off your paint" I'm dead 😂😂😂
The one that really annoys me is 'can you do a painting JUST like this one' 😂❤
Gracie Dreams i know right
Gracie Dreams It's terrible cause you can't paint the same thing again it will always be different even by a little bit
Rachel Walker true😂😁😊😉😙😚
I have a certain friend that is constantly asking me to draw stuff for her, it’s driving me mad
On the other hand, my mum asked me to make something for my grandparents wedding anniversary. I’m cool with that, it’s a special occasion 😂
Little_Pixie_ that’s also a really sweet gift.
I made something for my Grandparents anniversary too! It was an oil painting based off of where they went on their honey moon :')
jesus, why do so many people think they can get away with asking an artist to work for free?! i mean, if these are the same people that expect to get paid to do unskilled labor, why should an artist who's done years and years of practice and/or schooling to perfect their skill to work for free?!?!
also i'm not really an artist, i'm just crafty, but my personal favorite remark is when they see my work and go "omg you're so talented!!" and all i can say is "no i'm not! i literally just learned by watching a youtube video! i'm not that special lol"
Non-artist: “The other eye is different”
Me: *( ͡◉ ͜ʖ ͡◉)*
You are so nice!!!!! I would have given them a piece of my mind especially the UA-camr who was trying to make you pay for a painting you were going to make for free
"Oh you're studying psychology, can you read my fortune?"
Sometimes I'm genuinely concerned when people ask this crap.
Brilliant shady video, Jamie, I loved it!! XD
Someone at my school, who bullies me asked me for a painting as I'm known as the "art kid" and then said it's free right because it's not like a proper painting
Lucille Blacknell don't let a bully get to you . People like that are such a pain. Xx
sally longhurst thank you, I wish more people were like you❤️💜
There are loads of lovely people around. In my experience it's just too easy to let the crappy ones make more of a difference in our lives than they should.
Keep going with your painting and if you need help to deal with the bully, insist that your school does just that.
Best Wishes. Xx
Take a dump snap a photo and print it out for them. Perfect portrait. Jk. Get help if you’re being bullied.
KiarraSari 😂😂I should do that next time ,thanks I will
I love this video. Youve gotten so much more confident and its amazing to see you grow as an artist. Your bueatiful!
I love the byes byes byes byes at the end of your videos it's so cute 😻❤️
P.s your voice is so soothing ❤️
P.p.s when someone says can you draw me ooh draw me 😂
{EDIT} Yay thanks for 16 likes (I've never gotten any likes 😂) x
I love your confidence! I remember your first few videos. Comparing you in those to you now, I can tell how much your confidence has grown.
“Can you draw my friends dog that just died? She’s really sad”
“Can you draw a portrait of my family?”
“I don’t have a lot of money, so will €10 do for a drawing that’s going to take 7 hours? I’ll pick it up myself so you don’t have to pay shipping”
“Can you draw this picture of my boyfriend? I know you’re not like professional or anything but your good, and you don’t charge anything do you?”
I stopped doing art for other people.
Stay strong Jamie 😂💕
it's sooooo lovely to see how confident and outspoken you've become on UA-cam! Keep the awesome videos coming :)
THIS IS WHY I GET SO NERVOUS AND HESITANT TO TAKE ON COMMISSIONS AHHHH
+Helvetica09 i start hating it at first then when i carry on and finish it, it looks great✌️👍
Even when I was in art class, there were other students saying" omg, can you draw me, or here's a photo of my friend can you draw them?" like ugh, no.
Honestly this is so annoying when people do this
The most annoying things are when people ask them to do something for free or that artists are lazy or that art block Isn’t a thing
you are a real artist and youre amazing!
Digital Painting Wolf I love your art style! You have a new sub, your art style is so adorable and you're really good at art!
And no, digital is not cheating for sure, I can't do it myself! XD
OMG I AM JUST NOW SEEING THIS! Thank you so much for the kind words! And thank you for subscribing! :D
+Amber Renae that’s always a hard one for me too, art supplies cost so much, but also I feel bad asking for more
I totally understand... and most of all the time it takes to make things well is even more costly. I usually just give in and make the items but then get frustrated when I realize I am losing money on a project. I'm working on getting better at that! Your video reminded me that those of us in the art world understand :)
I remember when I was little I said to my parents that I wanted to be an artist when I grow up and they always said that I won't be good enough and being an artist is not a real job and that I will never have a future as an artist, that I will depend on others for money
Shame on them I'm in art school and I'm going to keep making art and is going to be my job
Look who's not getting any of your delicious cooking!
YouShotMyRobot Definitely 😂
this had me dead jamie i can't believe people really asked you some of this, you're so good to be willing to have conversations after you get asked these
Oh man these ARE annoying!
I love how your confidence had grown over the last year. I love you and your personality so much!
Most of those would annoy me as well haha 😂
omg, I love you so so so so much! You are my favorite youtuber of all time, and you're just so inspiring. I love love LOVE you, your voice, your videos, your art, your stories, your personality--- you just make me so happy. I love you Jamie❤️❤️❤️
Don't let them get you down! Stay strong Jamie!
Jellyrolls II
Oh my gosh I love the 'do you think your pretty enough to do art?' 😂😂😂 #gold
Also your just adorable! ✨😂🐶
If you get to 400k in the next couple months...will you paint my cat?
I love the sassy videos!! Also love the byes byes byes- please don’t change:)
I read a ton so people are always presuming that I'm super smart and asking me to give them homework and give them answers in class when actually I only get meh grades because I study for ages, I'm not naturally brainy XD
Oh man, I've been asked so many of these. I always find it amusing rather than upsetting. Glad you're not upset by any of them either!
One of the worst things is: “.....what is it?”
Lysm xxx
+Zaynab Ashraf hahaha!
I love love love this side of you .... I laughed the entire time! You just made my day so much better.
The “byes byes byes” is so cute!! If you don’t want to keep it, I’m okay with that 🙈 Naturally, it’s your channel and it’s up to you haha (idk how to word this wear it doesn’t sound rude or like I’m trying to make you do stuff with a channel that not mine, sorry if it’s come across like that 🙈)
RebeccaBeckery I think you did well! I said kind of the same thing. "Don't stop! (Unless you want to)"
I love art I don’t usually ask requests like portraits and such I just like the artists style and you are so talented and I know painting isn’t easy lol it’s so hard lol , people should be respectful and honestly just be you :) .
It's practice.i know some people are short on time but if it helps you grow and you can find time then there's no reason not to
I am in love with that goldfish cupcake canvas. In love. It’s beautiful
These were all annoying but when I heard "This doesn't look like art to me", I got triggered.
I love seeing your strength keep up the great work.
pls paint me an exact replica of the mona lisa on a 5 by 5 centimeter canvas that would be great
"Do you think you're pretty enough, to do art"
That one hurt...
The struggles are real, I understand
No offense but your mom lacks empathy
Your videos make me smile so much xD You see, when I was first starting out with art I made my friends and family free art, thinking "Oh, ill just practice with them and if they post it or whatever more people will find me to practice on." SO BAD. Now everyone expects me to do it for free for them. xD
keep the byes byes byes please, love your videos :)
The "not a real job" thing is so real for some many different kinds of artists. I study theatre as well as creative writing because those are the things I'm passionate about but definitely have been told to get a real job and asked (sarcastically) what in the world I plan to do with those majors.
