    I picked up the Asus S14 with 258V for the wife and I'm blown away. I really love it. The battery life in insane, the chip uses so little power when just using the laptop for regular use. The iGPU is actually impressive AF, you can actually game on it!

    This is by far the best review on this laptop. I have had mine since last Wednesday. You were exactly right on the display, you were right on the build quality, keyboard, performance and battery life. I am getting 12-14 hrs of light use - office, youtube, discord, teams, and accounting work. You do have to put it in battery saver mode BUT the performance does not drop off. Charging is super fast was well compared to other laptops. I thought Asus Nebula IPS screens were the best but this is damn near OLED. My only issues outside of the 2242 ssd is my trackpad stops working for a minute after i leave the computer sitting. The laptop also adjusts screen brightness which is a bit annoying sometimes but that is nothing. Outside of those issues, I have been waiting for a laptop like this for decades. I only charge the latpop when i go to bed and that is it. The cpu is very very snappy, much better than my lenovo legion 7 with a 13900hx unplugged. Its actually faster in tests on battery than my legion, not multicore of course but single threaded, its faster. Its light weight and completely silent. Everything you want in a mobile laptop.

    those is good only the pricing os way off. u cannot price this the same as zen 5

    • @TechGuyBeau
      @TechGuyBeau  Місяць тому

      Why? It has massively better battery life than zen 5, slightly better iGPU perf than a 780m. And is incredibly efficient in all Regards

      @@TechGuyBeau.. Lunar lake is competing with x-elite for thin and lights.. not performance market. It's a good balance for that casual laptops market. What it is not is a performance match for Zen5. I doubt its multithread efficiency will match zen5 either (missing hyperthreading). And finally battery life has a lot to do with the laptop than the CPU itself. Like display.. (min refresh.. self refresh.. resolution.. led vs oled). This would have made a perfect laptop for that 1000$ market who are not looking for more.
      Finally I was looking at some benchmarks seems like amd igpu is doing better than this in a lot of game by a lot some times (may be drivers still needs a bit of tuning). finally I have a thinkbook 16 with 7530u 6 core zen3 that has the exact same performance and battery life as this. only its half the iGPU performance. which I grabbed for 500$ .. you see the problem lunar lake as when trying to sell at 1500$! where zen5 resides.

      @curio78 Місяць тому

      @@TechGuyBeau actually in practical game benchmarks 890m is still showing an advantage over lunar lake. it still could be early drivers but we can call these even. and idle battery life is mostly a product of its display tech, which is resolution, self refresh and how low the screen refresh can be. amd had variable display refresh for some time. but I like how intel went all the way. so the difference in practical terms may not be huge as no one keeps the screen on idle.
      my amd 7530u thinkbook 16 lasts 18 hrs on video playback. that is a 7nm chip. because the screen is variable refresh with max of 60hz.
      what I am saying is in practical terms there is not much to separate these in gpu usable battery life(if you limit amd peak freq). but there is adifference in how much more efficient and performance amd is over intel at the same power when pushed. again this has only to do with amd having more cores and hence running at lower hz per core. so you see they cannot be on the same price point.

    Thank you for another great review...!! I'd much appreciate it if you could do the comparison review between this one and the new zenbook s14!
    Oh and also would there be big difference between ultra 5 226v and ultra 7 256v? Cause i figured that the most affordable zenbook will be ultra 5 226v in my region, and i couldn't find any review of ultra 5 226v yet...!! Thank you again!

    Keyboard coating is bad and it does not have a haptic touchpad. To me the keyboard, and touch pad are just as important as the screen, internals, thermals, performance. So i will not be buying this laptop
