The Meadow Run on the DSR . What a joke! The only time I've ever had that run to myself or shared it with another person was during August when the water was ankle high. The most regulated and overpriced fishery south of Gaspe Peninsula. Anyone watching this that's getting a chubby for going to the DSR do yourself a favor, don't. Buy yourself a new F150 and a Clackacraft Driftboat instead. You'll probably save money and you'll get way more enjoyment while discovering parts of that river that most of those pay-to-play spinning rod and centerpin jackasses have never seen. I did. no regrets.
steelhead migrate to the ocean, not the great lakes=these fish are called rainbow trout. steel head are rainbow trout that migrate to the ocean, where they live with and eat other salt water creatures, and deal with ocean predators, tides, ect. not the same.
Hi, MC! Unlike West Coast Steelhead who migrate to and from the Pacific Ocean, these fish live their entire lives in the Great Lakes eco-system. Thanks for watching!
@@DouglasOutdoors these fish are called rainbow trout, fresh water fish spawning in rivers, steelhead live and feed in an ocean environment, this is why these rainbows are given a different name :steelhead, great lake rainbows are not steelhead, because of the environment they were raised in. nice video though
@@mcolisekim what do you call the salmon that live their entire lives in freshwater but have been transplanted from the PACNW just like steelhead….articulate to me why they are different. Does the same no salt no salmon rule apply?
@@seamusmcfitz913 Steelhead are anadromous trout. That means they are born in FRESH water, spend most of their adult lives in SALT water, then return to FRESH water to spawn. A trout that hasn't seen SALT water is a trout, not a steelhead. Hook one of your midwest trout then come hook one of our Oregon steelhead. Then you'll agree.

Nice tutorial , thank you.
I hooked my PB just striping out my line after just entering the water.
You made mention that the time of year you were there is a good time for streamers and nymphs. What time of year is this?
Hi, Julian! It was fall when this video was shot. I believe it was the end of October.
Why swing instead of drift flies?
Ask my ex-wife she is an expert! We were swingers except she failed to tell me about it!

There are descendants of chambers creek strain steelhead, call em whatever you want, but they sure behave and fight like a PNW steelhead.

Steelhead are migratory trout.
