Whoa, I've recently read KelbyOne's high praise of Platypod and thought this product might meet my need for travel photography, but this UA-cam video is terrible. I have no idea how to use the Platypod and am reluctant to spend a fair bit of money on it essentially sight unseen.

Hey Mike, I made this video several years ago simply to show people how to use the D rings. It is not a tutorial on using the platypod itself, which is actually very intuitive. Once you have strapped the D ring onto a pole or a railing you simply hook the platypod onto it. Not rocket science. For most other uses, you place it on a surface and put a ball head on it. Spikes are provided in case you are on rock or concrete and don't want it to slip. The Platypod ultra does not really require more instruction than that.
However, for our more complex, Platypod, the eXtreme, we do have a tutorial video and you can see that on our website or on UA-cam ( ua-cam.com/video/xB7Ey-G4Zek/v-deo.html ).
