Saludos! 2023 S1000R rider here as well (3K miles on bike). 7th track day for me coming up in May, first one this season. I am a novice…your opinion on stock brake pads? Still running those. New to me this season, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa…first changeover from stock tires. Always appreciate your feedback. Gracias Hermano
6 track days already! I'm jealous. The stock pads are okay if you're in novice-intermediate group, they have a softer bite than race-oriented pads, more user friendly for sure. The EPFA pads I show in the video are a good choice once the Brembo ones wear out, they don't cost a lot of money and you should notice the decreased stopping distances. The Rosso IV Corsa should give you a nice boost of confidence exploring more lean angle, I have yet to try them myself but have good buddies who really like them.
Thank you!! Appreciate it. Will take careful observation of tire performance/feel to pass along and help provide guidance myself to others as well. Saludos!
Does the BMW coome with a lithium battery ? I've been running LiFePO4 batteries for 10 years - they feel like an empty plastic box 😮 on one of my big, old bikes I saved almost 8lbs just from the battery ! Li batteries barely discharge even if the bike is left for many months.....you can tell I like Li batteries 🙂
The HP package comes with a Lithium battery, but all I got out of that package was the forged wheels; the lithium battery, titanium muffler and rearsets are cheaper to buy later compared to spending an extra $3k when buying the bike. And yes, those Li batteries are amazing, one of the best and cheapest ways to save weight, I've had one on the XR for years. It should be in the next round of mods. 😉
Saludos Cuban!
🫣 oh no! BT Moto now offers a lower profile oil pan, but I don't remember if it's for the newer engine only. I've never felt it needed to be protected, but of course I'm aware these things happen. I recently watched a video of a Streetfighter that got a hole in the oil pan from a bouncing rock, but those bikes are a lot more exposed than ours.
Me acabo de dar cuenta que te respondí en inglés, pero bueno, llevate la XR al track que es súper divertida y te cansas mucho menos. Si puedes ponle pastillas de freno de carrera y súbele los estribos y puedes coger ángulos bien inclinados.
Hi Cuban Rider will you be at MSR in Angleton TX for track days i was there today. it was my first time as a spectator it was awesome. Eventually ill do a track day me self
"Guess what I was missing at that time?"...I would argue you were missing the riding skills for a S1000XR at the time, a litre bike is pretty ridiculous after 5 months of riding. The accident you showed was a classic newbie accident coming into a corner too hot for the skill level. I imagine this comment sounds a little trollish but been a long time subscriber and love your work!
No doubt. I had already done plenty of curves by that point... in the dry. The damp pavement really got to me then. I'd say I've learned a few things since then, haha.
@@CubanRider You certainly have :) I started off riding bikes like the RGV250 and VFR400R (NC30) anc tracking them. Thanks for taking my comment as I meant it by the way.
Cuban has been riding longer and do your research before you call him a Newbie…lol. I bought my S1000XR because of Cuban lapping liter bikes on the track! 😂
@@bazza8947 I have actually ridden with Cuban! He can out ride both of us easily. Let’s see some of your expert riding skills videos since you want to judge him? 🤡
Sadly I lost the rear end with new tires and some liquid in the intersection. Did not put a hole in my case but it is worn pretty well. 365 bucks…. Case guards are going on the XR when I finally get all the plastics back.
You DID run it a little wide xD But yeah the trex sliders are a requirement if you care about your bike. I finally got another bike! Found a 16' Suzuki GSX S1000F with 2400 miles 1 owner in NC for $5500 When you gonna be back at Tail of the Dragon?
Aren’t you gonna get a sportbike sooner or later? They work great for everything, autobahn, mountains and trackdays. I think you would be beasting the dragon harder on a sportbike then on any other thing once you get used to it.
I may in the future. The insurance is too expensive for the amount of street riding I've been doing, so if I get one it'd probably be for the track only. I actually enjoy handlebars on roads such as the dragon when I'm not supposed to push the bike to its limits. I may get a supermoto before I get a sportbike 😉
I've considered it, but I don't do enough track days to justify it. I also wanted a bike that can handle great on mountain roads but the insurance is not sky high like it would be with the RR.
Wonderful Mods Cuban. Enjoy the bike, I’m rooting for you!😁
Thank you 🙃
Hope to ride again with you one day. I was in one of your first videos on the bmw s1000r.
Cuban is a nice guy.
Congrats on the new bike brother. Looking forward to seeing you tracking that beauty. Saludos de un paisano.
Thanks bro, looking forward to it
Very nice! Thanks for sharing that.
I though you have being riding much longer than 2015.Wow cubiche tu aprendes rapido.Mucha salud y cosas buenas te desea otro cubano.✌
Gracias Miguel, saludos.

I may, it's the furthest track day for me, so I miss it more often than not

Did you already do a Li-Ion battery? Best weight reduction for the price!
Sure do! One of the best mods for sure. I plan to borrow the one on the S1000XR.
Esta preciosa tu moto bro.
Muchas felicidades
Ya quiero una de esas jajaja
Nah la XR esta mejor 😉

Lessons learned the hard way!
Is your bike a 2024? I asked trex about the 2024 they couldn't guarantee it would fit.
Mine is a 2023, but it's the same bike, it hasn't changed.

When you gonna be back at Tail of the Dragon?
I know, went wide for fear of braking on the damp road, and ended up on the dirty side of the road. I had the spirit, but not the skills 😉
And congrats on the bike, that sounds like an amazing deal! I should be in the area after they're done repaving the dragon 🤙
saludos cubano

I am wonder why if you like so much riding on track and you are very good on it , why don’t do it in a super bike ?
I've considered it, but I don't do enough track days to justify it. I also wanted a bike that can handle great on mountain roads but the insurance is not sky high like it would be with the RR.
The worst part was the guy leading was 2 up because nobody else wanted to take lead.
That was a long day
I escaped from all that rain that day, but limping back home at 50 mph was not fun, a 3 hour return trip turned into 5.
