R.I.P Jay. We all have our demons and should not judge anyone.
well he judged a gay dude to death so...
rayochapin i dont have demons thankyou very much.
Ya only God can judge.HBHS
Huntington Beach was where I first met Jay when I was 11 years old. He was very cool, let me tag along and didn't look down on me or treat me any differently which really had an impact on my interest in skateboarding & surfing for the rest of my life.
I'm glad you interviewed him and future generations will be able to watch this.

I had a similar experience on the North Shore in the late 80s. I had just moved there from SD. I was watching him rip V land and when he came in he started talking with me like I had known him all my life. At the time I didn't know he was the J Adams. He had a shaved head and was kind of buffed. I just thought he was a military guy that ripped. Over the 10 years I was there I often ate breakfast, lunch or dinner with him at Di Amicos. Always fun to hang with. Always made me feel like a Pro. Glad he knows the Lord.
I love that all of his answers were positive. He didn't dis on anything that kids are doing now, just appreciated everyone having their own opinions, preferences and so forth. What a cool guy.
I'm not the slightest bit interested in the bad, Jay was a surfer & skater from So-Cal, if you lived it, you know. Peace & respect Brown, one love
It wasn't just drugs that made him look how he is today...he was in a hardcore gang. Still got mad respect for this man
He saved me from trouble before
Jay Adams' story may be sad but it is also heartwarming and his name inspires awe, basically the man is legendary but also increadibly vulnerable and misguided. A real person.
REST IN PIECE JAY ADAMS! WE WILL MISS YOU! YOU'RE A TRUE LEGEND!! :'(
Rip Jay forever You get mad luv from the Latino Community!
Jay didn't kill no one. His buddy was wacked and shit bro. It wasn't because the guy was gay. Do gays have like gay stickers saying hi I am gay? Listen Jay is from the streets and had some bad circles. He cut ties and is trying to contribute back to the community and is only human. He also made history and was top of his day. Now it is about doing the best he can day by day. If you got some hang up then maybe you need to ride a razor scooter or something.
The thing I think is Jays best trait is his honesty about his bout with drugs. He has defeated his demons through being perfectly blunt and never apologizing to people who get offended by his demeanor because generally he was abusing himself not other people. Not too many people would survive that road. Its like skating that big full pipe in the ground in complete darkness and making it out the light at the end.
Miss my old banzai board sold my two pellet guns to buy it Best deal I ever did.
It sucks that it took jay going to prison to finally figure everything out, but at least he did. Long live The Original Seed!

RIP Jay, prayers go out to all of those affected by this loss
My skateboard HERO!
"The Original Seed" Godspeed you on your way Jay
He talks like Donald trump.
in a pool, mullen invented it on flat ground,
its awesome to see guys like Jay Adams and Christian Hosoi who were down and out druggies do a full 180 and start living their lives for Christ!!
I would have watched a J-Boy Adams reality show. How awesome would that have been???
Tony Hawk went pro for Powell Peralta at like 14 or 15 years old, not 18. His 1st pro board was released in 1983.
Dude is super cool and I wish him the best. He's turned his life around. He was an innovator on the skate and deserves our respect.
Thats not true at all. Jays adams took skating in circles and in between cones to flying around pools and bombing hills aggressively. Rodey Mullen came along years later, but is the pioneer of 'street' skating.
I was from a little bit of a different background but REALLY similar...I was born into motocross racing & I started in 1994 (I was born in September of 1985), so my time in motocross, I say A LOT, I saw the birth & explosion of "Freestyle Motocross", "Supermoto" (which seems to have really fallen out of favor FAST since Doug Henry ended up in a Wheel chair, & Rightfully So!!), I've seen the Big Switch from 2-Strokes (which racers & riders have been on since the sport STARTED) to ALL 4-Strokes...
his nose is like that Lakupippu guy haha
wow.....give the guy a break.....yeah it sucks that he got caught up in drugs and stuff but that happens A LOT when kids become rich and famous......at least he's trying to do something positive with his life now......I guess only punk kids don't understand what life is REALLY about
He may have gone through some shit, but now he is in god's path. Christ forgives us of our sins, Jay is a believer and good for him. God bless him for finding the truth. Kids, you don't need to do drugs, do what you need to do. Life has a bigger purpose and I hope that you find that purpose. Peace.
LOL true.
Jay, It's good to see you doing better buddy. Haven't seen you around Venice . Hopefully you'll surprise everyone with a visit and I can buy you lunch at 'Danny's' or anywhere else. Take care
@toowaker37 dude are you kidding? he's definitely someone to look up to. yea he did all that, but it takes balls to admit you did some stupid shit and then completely turn your life around.
sad sad life...Jay seems like every other guy just hanging around Venice Beach...no disrespect intended...just sad,,,drug problems, prison,,,living "in land"...long way from Dogtown!
Jay Adams was not in 'Lords of Dogtown'. He isn't an actor. He's the real deal and was one of those featured in the original documentary 'Dogtown and the Z boys'.
I'm just wondering, but does anybody know what is with his nostril? I think it's from cocaine or something, but dont know fully. Dude is a legend though.
Pools are for skating, flat ground is for getting to the pool.
@steelman205 it wasn't like that in his childhood pictures, i think it's from an injury or something
Jay Adams isn't the Lords of Dogtown star, that's Emile Hirsch. Jay Adams IS the Lord of Dogtown.
who doesnt!!!! but back in the day me and jay would mostly ride waves instead of the drug high
I don't think so man. That is damage from a weapon, not a drug.
He said the lords of Dogtown movie was Hollywooded out I wonder what parts specifically
he could've been bigger than he is right now without drugs smh
111,538 views on this.1,381,389 on lil wayne goes skateboarding ... fuck the 2000s

HE MADE SKATEBOARDING HAPPEN BREH.

holy fuck! i nostril is like 5 times bigger than the other 1!!
There’s needs to be a movie based on Jay Adams.
Your mom's a talented kid.
Allen Gelfand invented the Ollie.
Look at how big his left nostril is! Kids dont do drugs...
RIP Jay Boy true to the end
I hope he gets the glory he deserved as a kid now.
We don't need no preacher men up in here.
RIP ご冥福をお祈りします。
man i was there but i didnt see him damnit!! :(
Before the internet all there was was Skateboarder magazine. You'd see these photos. Then go out and try to replicate what you saw in them. That's how I'll remember Jay Adams. And thank goodness Craig Stecyk (and others) were filming those sessions. Only after I stopped riding did I get a chance to see Jay or any of the guys in live action. And it's also kind of funny. After seeing some of those live sessions on UA-cam I now realize that they weren't always pulling off what I saw them trying to do in those photo stills. So I don't feel so bad now when I think back and remember the times I ate it while trying to do some of those things myself. ; ) Jay and Alva and Biniak were my idols.
its not about money to him
does any one no wat drugs jay adams was on ?
How many years he went to jail?

Cool guy. Messed up nostrils.
1 dislike? must be tony alva
Cocaine's a hell of a drug.
@cbarrett34 : not a chance!
Jay man...I SEE you bro and I hope you're randomly browsing around and see my comment to you. You said that you're trying to get shit together in your life? I'm VERY VERY proud to hear that dude because it's never to late to put an iron on things and smooth em out. Many blessings to you! I saw a video earlier today and I feel like that you in your journey will appreciate this: It's called "The gift of forgiveness". Check it out...
Praise Jah and love with NO fear my dude..
much respect to Jay, he was there and he did it. sometimes history hits a bottleneck and a handful of people do something that spawns a massive sea change and it's impossible to imagine how things were before it happened. i wish Jay a future life of health and satisfaction , knowing that he is an absolutely critical part of American history. What else could a person hope for?
meth,,,,, Before and after
Jay Adams is skateboarding
He was doing Meth actually
Heroin
look at his nostrils lol
not about money, only Art
Heath Ledger also did an incredible job in his portrayel of Skip Engblom.
I saw Dogtown and Z-Boys (Stacy Peralta's documentary), they were showing some footage, then this voice started speaking, and before they even showed who it was, I knew it was Skip Engblom, just based on me seeing Heath Ledger play him in Lords of Dogtown.
Dude shut up, you are not old, we are the same age, I'm september too, we are not even 30, you don't remember any birth apart from pokemon and power rangers.
He's talking about the actor who played Jay in movie Lords of Dogtown, not the documentary Stacy made called Dogtown and the Z Boys that you're referring to
R.I.P Jay :'\
coke will mess you up.
@Twattoo666 heaavvyyy
I was fortunate enough to skate the legendary Fruitbowl in Garden Grove with the Z Boys back in 77 Jay and Tony used to ride up on the board that was propped up with cinderblocks. fucking Amazing'
probably all the coke
Jay Boy is the TRUTH
He's in the light, even Jay boy went to church GOD is good.
How is he a star?
The original seed
